I rented this for work. The fabric was stretchier than what I was I was expecting and the cut of the dress seemed a little casual (relatively short, a-line, with slits on the sides). I still wore it but dressed it up by adding a scarf. 

I sized down (usually a 4) based on other reviews. The 38 (2) fit fine, but seemed to stretch a bit through the chest. The neckline didn't lie flat (but was covered by the scarf)

Very pretty, classic dress.  Beautifully cut.  I'd buy if the price weren't so high.  Styled with black tights and boots and pearls. 

This is an absolutely gorgeous and elegant dress. At first when it arrived (before I tried it on), I thought, "This looks like just a normal black dress...I would expect something more from a Derek Lam dress." I was soooo wrong. When I put it on, it turned me into a Jessica Rabbit perfect hourglass. The cut is phenomenal and shows just enough cleavage to be sexy not trashy (too much for work if you have any boobs to start with, but perfect for a dinner date as I used it). I love how the sleeves bell out slightly, and stop just above the wrist so you can wear nice bracelets and they'll still be visible. Also, the weight of the material is perfect and drapes gorgeously. Will be my new go-to LBD for cool weather months!! Considering purchasing.

Nice dress with a scarf to cover neck line (which is a little low for work).  Unfortunately was a bit small so I didn't get to wear it

Pretty unremarkable LBD with bell sleeves. Not much else to say. Pair it with some statement jewelry and it has the potential to be beautiful. Alone, however, it leaves something to be desired.

The fabric was a good weight, but the dress seems like it may have been cleaned too many times because some of the seams seemed overpressed/slightly shiny. I received lots of compliments and it was so easy to wear. Very comfortable and can style it to dress up or down.

I would have worn this in a second if i had the smaller size.  Rented 44 Italy/8.  Nice cut and material.  Hit me just above knee.  

I rented this for work and wore it with tights and boots as it's below freezing this week!  I ended up wearing a turtleneck underneath it because of the cold, but also because it was a tiny bit too low cut for the work place.  It would be great for an evening out and you can dress it up or down as much as you want.  The shoulders felt a tiny bit large, but I had plenty of room through the rest of the dress and sleeves were prefect.  It's a shift dress, so if you want definition at the waist you'll need a belt, but I like the easy feel of a shift that doesn't look like a tent!  Will definitely consider renting again.

I am 5'2 118 with an athletic frame. I ordered the size 4 (I don't recall the European size). It fit well across my shoulders, but was a little low cut for my liking. I had hoped to wear it to a business Christmas party

Strange fit. The shoulders had a lot of extra room but the arms were really tight. Not my favorite.

I ordered this for work and ended up not wearing it. It was too big in the shoulders and I kind of looked like I was a little girl putting on my mom's dress to play dress-up.  The material is nice and thick and other than the shoulders I think that it would be a great dress.  If you are on the petite side, this is probably not for you.

This was too big for me and the neckline had a funny element where the edge did not lie flat. I did not wear this out of the house. 

I rented for work but the v neck was too deep which never happens on my tall frame. Also there are two small slits on the sides. Together with the v neck, it was a bit too showy for work. 
It was a very flattering cutt though so if you want a basic black dress for something other than work, this is great.

PROS:  Sophisticated style. Understated elegance bordering on blah. I didn't wear the dress because it was way too large.

CONS:  Nothing really specific with the dress, it just struck me as too boring. I generally love this designer so I was a little disappointed.

The dress is beautiful and quality.  The thickness is just right and the material is very comfortable.  I'm 5'5 and this dress was too tall for me.  The space between waist and shoulders was HUGE.   I have a bit of a short torso, so the bottom fit fine,  but the top was just a sloppy mess on me.  This dress would work well for someone who has a large bust or a very long torso.

Weird fit. Really, really big up top and snug through the hips. It was almost comical. Did not wear. 

Ran small through hips but large through top. 

The dress was cute but the shoulders run pretty wide.
