I am glad I checked out the other reviews. My usual size didn't fit because of my hips, but the 6L worked out great. If you have wide hips make sure you get a size up from your usual for the backup. I wore this dress with 4 inch heels and the "long" length was great. I also safety pinned the lining in the front as others had done, so it didn't show. I got numerous compliments on the dress and had an amazing time out on the town. As my first experience with Rent the Runway, it all worked out great. I am looking forward to trying it again soon!

I absolutely LOVE this dress! Not only was a perfect fit, but I got so many compliments. I was concerned that the all over sequins were too much, but since they were matte it ended up being just the right amount of glamour. I will say that I'm small chested and there wasn't a lot of extra room, so if you're well-endowed you may need to size up. Overall I would highly recommend this dress for a formal/evening event!

I could not have been happier with my rental! I read all of the reviews and decided to go with an 8 and 8L as mu backup size. My size is between a 6 and 8, so it seemed like a good idea to go up. The 8L length was perfect (thanks reviewers - I would have never ordered a long otherwise), and it zipped up, but it was SNUG. So, I called and had a 10L next-day shipped to me for the additional fee. Totally worth it! The 10L was a perfect fit and I felt so amazing this dress. A few additional pros: The sound - the sequins make music as you walk. The fit - I was a bridesmaid at a fairly conservative wedding and didn't want to look too busty, but the fit of this dress actually minimized my boobs and made me look more slender all over. Also, not too low cut. A few (minor) cons: The straps were a little too long and I ended up taping them to my bra to make sure it wasn't visible. The zipper was really tricky and took some finesse to zip up. The lining of the dress was about 2" lower than the sequins at the hem. It didn't look terrible and I think it was supposed to show a little bit, but I would have preferred they be a little closer in length. Rent this dress! You'll love it.

This was the first time I had used Rent the Runway and it wont be the last. I needed a dress last minute for a New Years Eve gala and thought Id give it a shot. Every dress I wanted to rent was sold out and I was getting discouraged. I came across this one and was nervous because of all the sequins being too heavy or scratching my arms. I also read the reviews and everyone had said the dress was too short. Being that I was running out of time I figured Id give it a shot. The 10L was sold out so I ordered the 10R and hoped for the best. When it arrived it fit like a glove. It was flattering and was not too heavy. It also did not bother my arms at all. It was a little tight in the bust area but it gave me great cleavage! It was on the shorter side and you could see my feet with heels on but I paired the dress with some fun shoes and the look came together great! If you're my size and you are looking for a dress to cover most of your shoes then def go with the long size. The sequins were two-tone giving it a nice pattern that I wasnt expecting. Overall - great dress!

Zac Posen is my all-time favorite designer. The pictures don't do this gown justice, the detail throughout, even in the sleeve, is perfection. The reviews from the other ladies are spot-on. It is incredibly fitted in the waist so be sure to order one size larger (just in case!). I'm 5'6, 158 pounds, size 34D and the 10 was perfect despite typically wearing an 8. The dress is made to come off the floor in the front even though the model's picture doesn't show that. So the 10 long was definitely the right choice (thank you other reviewers). I wore this dress to a black tie wedding and received compliments all night long from men and women (even the bride and groom!). I didn't want to take it off and had a hard time sending it back. Beautiful gown, masterfully designed. This dress made me feel beautiful and confident all night. RTR takes good care of the gowns as it was flawless. This was my first experience with RTR - can't wait to rent again soon!

My only complaint was that it wasn't very long. Even in the long i felt like the dress was short. Especially because there was a mini train and you couldn't even tell.. And I'm not very tall. I am only 5'4". Regardless, I got SO MANY compliments! Everyone was asking me where I got the dress from and how much weight i had lost (when in reality i didn't lose any weight) this dress is beyond amazing. So happy I rented such a perfect dress!

I am nearly 5'11". I wore completely flat shoes and the dress was still not floor length. I almost didn't wear it because it was shorter than I expected it to be. It actually stretched a little during the course of the evening to make it slightly longer. However, out of my choices, it was the most flattering. The underskirt was longer than the sequence overlay and the fabric was very delicate. I liked that the dress didn't hug my hips (spanx helped too.) The weight of the dress made it look really chic. Although it did not need much by way of accessories, I rented the Silver Mesh Glam Clutch, Kensington Drop Earrings and Silver Glitz bangle bracelets (and I'm glad I did - they looked great.) I love the fact that I can wear something this beautiful and I don't have to worry about keeping it for 10 years to get the value out of the price paid. I felt really beautiful dressed up in the gown, especially with all of the accessories. Overall, renting my outfit was a good experience.

This dress was so comfortable and easy to wear. I'm y'all so it could have been a bit longer, especially if you want to wear really high heels. Also a bit tight in the bust if you're on the larger side but still great and so fun to wear!

I have pretty thin shoulders so the straps of the dress were a little loose on me. But in the end it was actually a good thing since it forced me to stand up straight all night. This dress is pretty much great for anyone. The bust area was made so that anyone could easily wear it. Even though I didn't completely fill it out, the sequins made it so that you could not tell. The sequins are not the normal shiny cheap stuff you often see but are matte black and form a design. I was worried at first that it would be a scratchy dress to wear but it actually turned out to be incredibly comfy and I had no problem wearing it for 6 hours. This is an incredibly classy dress that looks even better in person. It's one of those dresses that would look great on any age and looks amazing up close and from a distance. I was so sad to return it! Thank you rtr for the great dress and for sending it to me an extra two days earlier than I had ordered it!

I cannot say enough about RTR!! Customer service is absolutely fabulous and I will never use another company. I love the dresses and I love the customer service. Dress fits great, short but I am only 5'2" and it fits without taping it up. I can vacillate between a 0 and a 2 but the 2 fit better so I could actually eat without holdling in my stomach!

Wore this for a NYE wedding! Length is very short in the front (longer train in the back)- I think the designer purposefully intended for the wearer's shoes to show in the front. The model is bending her knees to conceal this. Since I hate high heels, I purposefully ordered the R length even though I knew it would be short, so that I could get away with comfy 2-3 inch heels. The 0 wasn't available so I ordered the 2R and 4R as backup. The 2 fit me, but I chose the 4 because it was about an inch longer, so that my heels were concealed in the front and yet my dress didn't drag too much in the back. The shiny black heavyweight material concealed the fact that the 4R was slightly loose on me. I danced all night in my low heels and my feet thanked me. :) I recommend this dress highly, just make sure to be aware of the unusual length (and sightly tighter fit) when ordering sizes.

Love this dress -- fit was spot on. I should have ordered the long version (2L) though instead of the regular (2R) because the latter was way too short and hit me just below the ankles, showing my shoes! I wanted to order both lengths but they weren't available. Ideally the gown should graze the floor which for me would have likely been the 2L. I am 5'7 and wore 3.5 inch heels.

The dress fit great.I ordered a size 8R and 10R, and ended up wearing the 8R. The only con I had, I should of ordered the longer size, I had to buy different shoes so my ankles wouldn't show. Slightly itchy, but after 10 mins I didn't even notice.

I'd put on a few pounds by the time December had rolled around, so I wasn't sure how good I'd feel about wearing a slinky dress to a winter Repeal Day ball. This little number made my short, curvy body actually look somewhat long and lean! My friend said I looked like Jessica Rabbit. With high heels, the length didn't turn out to be too much of an issue, though I ended up picking up the hem when walking stairs or long distances to avoid tripping. This dress also really fit the mood of a vaguely Prohibition era-themed formal, but it would work for a range of black tie events and a range of ages.

The dress doesn't have adjustable straps, so beware that you might have to wear a strapless bra or cups in order to fill in the center-pinched bust. The sequins are not at ALL overpowering. They are very subtle and tasteful and do not overwhelm the dress at all. The dress is also lined very nicely so it doesn't at all itch and holds up beautifully over the course of several hours. If you have a small waist (even without a larger bust or hips), it highlights all curves perfectly. It was a gorgeous dress. I'm so glad I got it for the black tie wedding I attended.

This was such a great dress. It hugged my curves and was a hit without being overly flashy. I got a lot of compliments! In terms of fit, it does not have any give so if you have a very large chest, I'd order a size up. Also, I am 5'4 but I ended up wearing flats with this dress because it was the right length with flats. If I had worn 3 inch heels, 2 inches would have been very visible below the dress. Overall, I really loved this dress and I wish I could keep it!!

This dress was so comfortable I forgot I was at a formal affair. It is stunning and simple yet interesting.

The bride had all her bridesmaids order a long black dress from Rent the Runway (all of the dresses in the group picture are from RTR). Everyone's came on time and they loved them! I was very nervous about the fit but glad it came with 2 sizes. I did not zip the dress all the way up in the back and folded it in to give it a low back. The only issue I had with the fit was the extra room in the top but I am a B and even though I ordered an extra long, it was almost too short. Overall, loved the dress and the process of ordering/returning.

I ordered 2 sizes - 10L and 12L. I was a bit nervous about the length as I'm 5'11", but it was the perfect length, and could have been a bit shorter! Phew! I highly recommend everyone do this and I'm so happy RTR offers it. Beautiful dress, came when promised, and so, so easy to return. I can't say enough good things about RTR. Thank you for your service.

I absolutely loved this dress. I have never felt so fabulous! A lot of the reviews said the dress looks gunmetal, but i felt it was a true matte black. There is not a lot of give in the dress, and it is very form fitting, so i would recommend some spanx. I was able to wear a strapless bra as well, so that was a plus. I received endless compliments all night and I can't wait to order from rent the runway again!

I'm 5'3" and normally wear a 6 or an 8 so after reading reviews that the dress is form fitting and may run small I decided to order the 8R and the 10R. If you don't have a pretty flat stomach then the dress will be tight. The 8 fit me but I chose to go with the 10 just so I could have some extra breathing room. The hips were more of a relaxed fit so no problems there. The length on me was exactly the same as the model in the photo in that the bottom of the dress just brushed the floor. The straps were too big on me but I secured them down with some fashion tape. Overall I loved the dress and received numerous compliments throughout the evening. I wore this to a formal black tie boxing event and the dress fit with the evening perfectly.

I never received this dress because it was unable to be delivered in time but I am still righting a entry to talk about how truly supporting and helpful the people of rtr are. They not only called and emailed me right away but allowed me to pick out another dress regardless of price. They ever gave me possible suggestions to substitute the dress and the new dres I received was still brought on time. I hope this is helpful information for you in your future purchase. Instead of true to size, I wish I could submit true to support you to make sure you receive the best customer service possible.

This dress is even more beautiful in person. The sequins are actually a mix of matte black and gunmetal gray, which creates a subtle pattern on the dress. The result is an elegant gown that shimmers with every movement. The straps are edged in a raw silk and the fringy effect is so modern and chic. The back of the dress is slightly longer than the front which creates a slight train when you walk--so fun! The dress fit perfectly in the hips and waist, but the top was too tight, even for my moderate bustline. I was SO disappointed, and I really wanted to wear the dress, so I got creative! If you look closely you can see that the dress has an inset waist, so I decided to zip the back of the dress just up to the inset waist. I tucked the unzipped part of the top under and secured it with a bit of fashion tape. So, instead of a higher scoop neck back, I created a plunging bare back dress. SO sexy--I actually liked it much better than the scoop back and it fit my bustline perfectly!

True size 8 fit. I typically wear size 8 in any dress. I wear 8-10 in jeans and Medium top. I picked 8L so I could wear tall heels and it was perfect. I'm not sure if the 8R would have been much shorter but it worked great for me. I wear Regular-Long in my jeans as well (Old Navy Jeans = Long, Joe's or citizens = regular length). Flat footed I'm 5'8" I'm not busty by an means but I'm not flat either. This dress worked perfectly! My hips are what I consider the biggest part of my body. This dress hid that well. I felt comfortable in it all night and got lots of compliments. I could wear a regular bra and undergarments which was nice. Overall I was well pleased with my RTR choice

This dress was perfect for the formal event that I wore it to. It definitely fits true to size, but it is snug in the hip and abdomen region. So if you aren't partial to a tight fit throughout the body of a dress, then you may want to consider a different style! I also received many compliments which was a bonus! There are two small cons to this gown. The all-over sequin design was a tad itchy in the beginning, but I adjusted to it in a short while. Also, I ordered the Long version of the dress and still had to wear my shortest heels with it to make sure my ankles didn't show. So if you're planning on wearing sky high heels, you may want to reconsider! Overall this dress was great! I would definitely use Rent The Runway again!

I am 5'4" and usually wear size 4 but I ordered 4R and 6R. The 4 fit but it was tight across the chest ( I am a D cup). The 6 fit well but I am short waisted so I had to pin the straps to my bra so it would stay up. It all worked out fine. Also, the front of the skirt is shorter than the back so the 6 was better for that reason also.

Loved the dress and fit well. I wear a size 10 dress but ordered a 12 because of the style and previous reviews and it fit perfectly. So I would suggest ordering 1 size up. It was disappointing to find out that the underslip hung 2" below the front of the dress when I tried it on! After reviewing the dress, the entire waistband of the under slip had come apart from the top of the dress ( this is how I received it) and I had to use the dress tape and pins to pin it under and hold the seam of the waistband together. It worked but I felt like the dress was not carefully looked over before I got it. In all fairness, you would not have know the slip was longer until you tried it on! I definitely would rent another dress from Rent THe Runway but would suggest you look over your item carefully before you wear it.

I go to a lot of different events and cannot keep up with buying new dresses for everything.... Thank you RTR for givig me options. Love it.

This dress is gorgeous. The sequin detailing is exquisit and it really serves as a statement gown. However, my waist is 25" and my hips are 38.5" and the gown was simply too loose under the bust line. The gown fit on my hips well but here was extra fabric when zipped correctly. I am curious if I could have fit into the 0L. Like a previous reviewer, I also fashion taped the dress into an open back in order to cinch in the dress. I don't consider my bust line small, but I did not fill the dress out the way that I wanted to, even after the cinching. I did get compliments on the dress but next time I think I will go for something with an empire waist or more tailored to a hourglass figure. On a side note, my order was incorrect from RTR (they sent the wrong dress in the size I requested) but this did not compromise me having a gown to wear to the event. Returning them was a breeze and I will use RTR for my next formal event.

This is a beautiful dress. However this was my fourth attempt at a dress and it barely zipped up one me. This was a suggestion from an RTR stylist who helped me since my first few dresses didn't fit. I was out of time and in San Francisco for a wedding and I had no other choice, I had the dresses delivered to the hotel room. I was told this dress looked nice on me even though I don't think that the picture does a great job of showing that. I ordered the 12 since my previous order were 10s and none were even close to zipping up top. If you have any stomach bulge or muffin top, you may want to wear spanx since it's very form fitting. It was hard to go to the bathroom since the sequins would get stuck on each other when I pulled my dress up. The sequins would get stuck pretty much any time I lifted the dress. I could see snapped strings too and strings coming out. You could only see them up close though. I did get a lot of compliments. The wedding had an "oscar party attire" request which I thought this would be great for but once I got there, compared to everyone else, I felt over dressed. I just kept my head up and kept confident since there was no turning back with the dress. It became a bit tight after dinner on the torso area but by then I had some alcohol in me so I didn't pay too much attention to it. The one great thing about this dress is that I had a lot of fun dancing in it since it was long so I used the skirt of the dress as a dancing prop, can can dancing type of thing. It's a beautiful dress but I really didn't like it on me and I will not rent this again. Customer service is great though, they stayed on the phone with me for over an hour trying to find me things to have it delivered overnight. I may not be renting this dress again but I will keep on being an RTR customer.

Fit tight, order your typical size and a size up.

I was not expecting this dress to fit me so good! It was very classic and chic! The sequins were very pretty and subtle at the same time! This was the perfect Mardi Gras ball dress!!!!!!!!!

Great fit on my body type. Top provided enough room for my large bust, and is sewn to provide room in the top even though it is so tight. This could leave some loose fabric though if a renter has a small chest. The fitted waist is beautiful, but keep in mind that this dress does not stretch. I have narrow hips and a bit of a backside. I found this dress accentuated all parts perfectly. I easily danced in this dress until 2 am, it is so comfortable, no itching or rubbing sequins. They are sewn onto the outer layer which is almost lace-like, this makes the dress flow so pretty when you walk. It is slightly shorter in the front hem, it is intended to be that way, so have the right shoes when you wear it as well. I wore classic black patent 2 1/2 inch pointy toe pumps, a high ponytail, and blue fur jacket, for a slightly edgy black-tie optional NYE wedding at a hotel in Beverly Hills.

It was a good length for me at 5'1 plus heels.

I ordered the OR and 2R. 2R would have worked, but the fabric bunched a little and it was obviously too big. The 0R was perfect, with the exception of the length. I am 5'4.5" and I wore 3.5 inc. heels. I could have easily worn the 0L, but I think that it was okay. I have a small frame, but I have a large chest so I always like to wear a dress that allows for me to wear my regular bra. This was perfect. I highly recommend this dress.

Bodice is fitted with no stretch so it was a bit tight.

I have a classic pear figure, with a waist that is much narrower than my hips and I'm short, which makes it a challenge to find something that doesn't need alterations. The length and fit of the dress was perfect - I was able to wear 3" heels without fear of tripping. Very flattering and very pretty in person the picture doesn't do it justice.

Such a flattering fit. The cut on top lets you wear a regular bra, and the neckline is flattering to any size chest. The dress is heavy, but that helps it fall nicely to the ground. I really loved that the sequins were patterned.

The dress fit perfectly, although I did decide to invest in a tummy smoother because it shows everything! I will say that the waste is very small. I am actually a 30F and where size 0 pants. Most 2s fit in the chest but are loose in the waste; this dress was snug through the waste and hips. It also fit well in the chest. It did show cleavage but felt very secure and appropriate. I got many compliments on the dress.
