This dress really cinches your waist without being uncomfortable! It looks better in person than in the picture but I would rent this again for a cocktail party for sure. I wore my normal size and had no fit issues.

The size 4 was a little big so I went with a size 2. I am in between both sizes but it was totally comfortable. The design with the black down the front made my body look very narrow and the peplum accentuated my curves. I loved this dress!

I wore this dress for an engagement party. I think its definitely an appropriate dress for a party or a night out. The slit in the front was an issue anytime I sat down as I was worried about showing my underwear all night. BEWARE this dress does run large. I am normally a size 8 in form fitting dresses and I am so glad I got the second size in a 6. Very comfortable to wear all night without any issues at all.

This dress fit like a glove! It wasn't the easiest dress to sit down in because of how tight it is through the thigh, but the slit in the front helps. I felt great in it & I received compliments all night! Definitely would recommend this dress!

I wore this new dress to a rehearsal dinner. Loved it because it wasn't fussy, but still cute & put together. The only note is that because I'm 5'2", it ran a bit long on me (down to my knee).

The dress is really a really good color. It just runs very right through the hips and legs. I didn't think that the slit was too high or an issue when sitting down. For me, I was more uncomfortable with how tight the dress was in my hips when sitting down and trying to dance. Overall it's a very pretty dress, but wasn't the most comfortable option for an event where you'll be sitting and dancing.

This dress has some major issues: 1) Color and Fabric: I liked the deep purple color of the dress and I thought the fabric looked nice, but my sister said it looked like a lampshade. Also, when you put the dress on the fabric becomes very hot, scratchy and uncomfortable on the skin. Plus, the dress is completely unlined, say what!!?! pretty abnormal for something that's supposed to be nice/expensive. 2) awkward fit. I think my measurements are pretty standard (34/25/36) and I usually wear a 2 in most dress sizes. The 0 on this dress fit my waist but the hip part was wayyyy too tight. Then the 2 fit my bust area but the waist area was too large. I added a black belt to the waistline to try to cinch it in a little which seemed to help. but the dress just didn't fit my body type well I guess. 3) the slit in front!!!! yikes!!! the slit in the front of the size 2 was ridiculously high. You could literally see my panties. If you look in the 2nd photo I uploaded you can see what I mean- I had to layer a black skirt underneath it just to make it decent. I don't know if that slit was just defective though because the slit on the front of the size 0 definitely did not run up as high as the size 2. However, i think if it hadn't gone up as high you wouldn't be able to sit down/walk in the dress easily 4) overall, even with the black belt and black skirt that I added to the look, the dress was just OK. I did not end up wearing this dress for the event I had and decided to wear another dress I already owned that was more comfortable and didn't require as much "fixing." Basically, definitely not the best dress out there on this website in my opinion, but if you are more of a straight and narrow body type I think it may work better on you. Beware the gaping slit!!

I originally ordered a different dress, and received a phone call from RTR saying it was not returned in time, therefore I could not receive the dress on time. After the initial panic wore off, the man I spoke with at RTR customer service was INCREDIBLE (seriously, he was amazing!) He actually went to my original order and found dresses that would be similar to my taste based on that preference. When he told me about this dress I instantly knew that was going to be my new dress. I definitely wish I would have ordered this one in the first place! I wore a size 4 in this dress and absolutely adored it. The small slit in the front made sitting down possible, and it was a little tight in that regard but overall I loved this dress. It fits true to form and I have a large bust and i felt totally comfortable and not restricted or restrained at all. I wore with closed toe black pumps with gold embellishment on the heel. Perfect for an evening Catholic wedding and evening reception.

I was looking for something to wear to a school alumni cocktail event on a weeknight, so I wanted something that wasn't too over-the-top or dressy while still nicer than something I'd wear to the office. This ended up being perfect and got SO many compliments. The lower purple section has more of a metallic tone (I wouldn't call it a sheen though - it didn't look cheap) than you see in the photo which makes the color more dynamic. I found the fit a bit looser on the top than the bottom, so even if you are busty I would encourage you to order your normal size. The bottom was definitely form-fitting - a few times I was worried about slitting the small slit in the front while sitting/moving around but it held strong. Also, a few other reviewers complained about the slit but I felt it balanced the strong lines of the upper half of the dress well - the top is so structural, so without the slit at the bottom it would just look neglected.

If you are bottom heavyweight I definitely recommend going one size up as it is very snug and the material doesn't have much give.

this dress is so good for fall! really appropriate for a ton of occasions and super classy and chic. I found it to run a tiny bit big, especially in the waist area- I might consider sizing down for backup in this one. Its great for a ton of different body types- super slimming!

The dress ran large. Around my stomach it protruded out, it would be a great dress for a petite pregnant woman, but for a smaller girl like me with large breasts not so much, still an over all beautiful dress, just wish they had a smaller size.

I generally wear a size 4 or 6 - often a 4 if I want a more snug fit. However, this dress ran a bit large in my opinion as the size 4 was a bit loose. It was a very comfortable dress for the summer wedding I attended.

The fit was over all really nice and extremely flattering, especially the top part and the chest - it was a great cut for me in the shoulders...but it was a bit big in the stomach area, I wish I would have ordered a 0 and a 2 instead of a 2 and a 4. Length in the picture is accurate.

It was a great length, great fit, however, I do not have hips so there was a little room in that area and it wasn't tight enough in the waist to have the peplum give the illusion of hips. Otherwise, this dress was great and perfect for the evening.

As usual, I needed a size between the 6 and 4 so the six was a little big in the waist. Otherwise it was very flattering and fun to wear!

I worn this to a wedding and was so comfortable all night. I will say that the leg opening is small because the dress is tapered. I have very thin legs and I torn the front seam a little bit dancing and sitting. The purple part of the dress is also a little itchy, I am sensitive to wool. I loved the dress though and felt so beautiful in it.

I would say these dresses run very large. I generally always fit an 8 and can into a 6 every now and again, and this six was loose on me. Overall shape very pretty but no stretch and a bit fo odd seaming across the bust if you have a larger chest. Overall good.

I rented this dress for a bridal shower that occurred the weekend of a snowstorm, and so the dress didn't arrive on time (totally NOT RTR's fault, it happens) but I tried it on when it got here anyway. It's lovely and has a little shimmer to the fabric that you can't really see in photos, but the fit on my hips was TIGHT and there wasn't any stretch in it. Girls with wider hips might want to steer clear of this one to avoid an unbalanced fit.

I rented this in a size 6 and should have done a size 4. The six was just too big, the dress needs to be on the tighter side so it doesnt poof out too much in the pumplum area. So I didnt end up wearing it.

The print on the dress is more purple than the picture suggests (it is pretty). The dress is very flattering. While I didn't end up wearing it, the dress fit well and runs true to size.

I'm between a size 12 and 14 and this dress was too small for me. The fabric seemed a little thin but the dress was sexy and I wish it fit me. Would be a great for a night out or a party.

I rented size 6 and size 8 for a wedding. I am usually in between the two sizes, but neither fit at the bottom because there was absolutely no room for my bottom! If you have a boy figure, this dress will probably be great for you, but if you've got back, order a size bigger than you would normally!

The color is much more purple than it appears online. I did not find it particularly flattering or comfortable, with the black paneling much stretchier than the rest of the dress and it seemed to ride up funny on me. I had ordered this as my back-up...and I ended up going with my first choice, even though that dress was not in spectacular condition. This one just didn't feel comfortable.

No complaints with RTR at all. But this dress was not of the same quality as the other dresses that I have had. It was not lined and the black fabric on the bodice was quite thin and the seam allowance from the horizontal bust dart made that part lay funny. The fabric is a bit stretchy which may make it more comfortable. I did not wear it, as the Shoshanna dress that I also ordered was so much nicer it was a no contest for me.

Not recommended for a girl with hips. I thought (or rather, hoped) that the peplum would have a slimming effect… but instead it had the opposite effect, accentuating my hips and tummy area. So glad I didn't have to wear this one.

I am "pear shaped," so the 8 was too large in the waist and the 6 was snug at the hips. I was fine standing and dancing but as other reviewers note, sitting was tough. As we boarded buses to the next venue, the front slit tore up the seam about 6 inches, exposing my underwear! I tried wearing it backwards, but ultimately had to trade with a friend for a longer purse to hold in front of me the rest of the night. This is the first time I've had an issue with fit/quality after 3 rentals. Either go a size up and belt it at the waist (wish I had..) or size down and move carefully!

This dress was sent to me when the back-up size of the dress I originally ordered became unavailable and I was less than impressed. The purple brocade material reminded me of a piece of old furniture and was scratchy and uncomfortable against my skin. Fortunately, my regular size in the other dress worked perfectly, but even if it hadn't, I wouldn't have worn this one.

The overall fit was great, but if you are under 5'5" the dress is extremely long, I am 5'1" and the dress came below my knee making me look awkwardly short.

the top was tight and the bottom (from the waist down) was VERY large. i was able to grab at least four-five inches of the hip area by pulling the dress with my hands to the side. it was a terrible fit.

Accentuated my waist and fit well overall. Wore the larger size as it was fitted in my hips and I wanted to have room to dance. Wore with sparkly silver shoes.

I really like this dress for going out to dinner. If I had a fancier job, it would look very stylish for that (but I'm a nurse and get to wear scrubs all day). I bought this dress and think I could have easily done the size 4, but I love the idea of having different sizes to work with, depending on my current weight for the week! lol I tried it on without a bra and was fine with it, pretty supportive and comfy. Makes me look more balanced with the the peplum. The fabric feels very nice and doesn't seem like it will wrinkle much if I'm sitting a lot, and doesn't "cut" me in the middle making some weird fat roll, so that's always great. lol. I look thinner in this dress than I really am.
