I would describe my style as classic with an edge and this dress fit that description perfectly! I wore it to a benefit that I was volunteering for so I wanted to look professional but still maintain my signature style, so the conservative front paired with the low back fit the bill. I paired it with a leather tassel necklace and a funky cuff to make the look more modern, but you could make it equally Jackie O. with pearls. I found that it fit true to size- I went with my usual 0 and it fit wonderfully if a little loose- and appreciated that the ruching along the waistline prevented it from looking boxy. It was very comfortable to wear but as other reviewers have said, the snaps that hold the bustle in place would occasionally pop open if I sat or bent down. Certainly wasn't a deal breaker, though, as I'm already planning to rent this dress again for a fall wedding!

This was my favorite rental! Beautiful back, rich shiny fabric, totally unique style that stood out. Half conservative half striking/risqué I couldn't have picked a more ME dress. Occasionally the snaps came undone when I sat down but I do have a really long torso I think that's why. I would order up for the backup size.

I really wanted a dress that was formal without being floor-length, and this dress was perfect. It fit in all the right places, I never had to adjust or fuss with anything, and I was comfortable throughout the entire wedding (ceremony, dinner, dancing). I wish I could have kept it!

I recently wore this dress to a wedding this winter and I was not disappointed. This dress was so beautiful! Very classy and elegant. I paired it with a big chunky necklace, seeing as the neckline goes very high up. I loved the open back because I felt that it was sexy without being too revealing! As for the fit, I thought it was true to size and it felt great. It was comfortable and I was able to be up and dancing the whole night! Would definitely recommend for a wedding or another formal affair! :)

Simple but elegant

It definitely runs small but seemed to loosen up a little as the night went on. The zipper was hard to get up and the snaps didn't stay snapped but it wasn't noticeable. Overall would definitely recommend this dress it was the perfect mix of fun and class for a wedding.

I usually wear a 2 or 4 in dresses, but since designer clothes tend to run a little smaller, I had planned to order a 4 and get 6 as a backup. Right before my delivery date I checked my order and realized I'd ordered a 2 as backup. Certain this wouldn't work, I called RTR. and they shipped a 6 overnight for a nominal cost. The stylist was awesome! Anyway, both the 4 and 6 fit well, but I went with the 6 for the sake of comfort and ease of movement. I agree with the other reviewers that the neckline is strange, but it didn't bother me at all and I think once you walk away from the mirror, it's not that big of a deal, kind of cool even. A statement necklace is a must though. I loved the cut and felt that it flattered me well, even though it was a little pouchy around the stomach. I wore this to an awards dinner for my husband in Southern California where I didn't know anyone in advance so I wanted to look respectable, but stylish. This was the perfect dress! I got tons of complements and I even heard people commenting on it as I walked by (in a good way). My only complaint- and I noticed this in pictures on the website- is that the hem has a crease in it. In fact the whole dress needed some pressing, but the fabric resisted ironing (it's a stiff polyester). But this was not a deal killer. Just a note for the OCD. Loved this dress! I read many reviews before deciding to rent this dress. The dress was everything I thought it would be; maybe even more. The back of the dress makes up for the very understated look in the front. The front of the dress definitely calls for a statement necklace. I wore it for a wedding and it was elegant and sexy without being over the top. The only reason I am not giving this dress 5 stars is because the two snaps at the back of the dress kept unsnapping every time I say down, which was quite annoying. Overall, I had a fantastic experience with RTR. Will definitely be renting again.

The dress was nice, but it def is not a show stopper. The front is very plain so you you really need to wear a large statement necklace. And I usually always wear a 4 but I definately could have used a 6. It was kind of tight on my thighs and the fabric does not give at all. Also what you can't see from this picture is the dress is actually very short (well for me). The bustle is long but the dress was def. Mid thigh. Sorry I don't have a full length pictures. I got lots a compliments, but I prolly wouldn't rent it again. Prolly better for straigt and narrow shorter person.

The dress fit really well...I got a 4 and 6 and went with the 4 because it hugged a little better. The fabric in the stomach was a little loose, which made for a few awkward photos. I loved the open back and the big bow but the dress wasn't as flattering on my body type as I would have hoped!

I loved the dress, however one of the snaps on the back of the dress kept coming undone when I would sit down which was a aggravating because I had to keep going to the restroom to fix it. Overall the fit was great, I definitely would still wear it again.

Great fit, super flattering on my arms. The material is great too, takes wrinkles well. Got so many compliments on how unique the dress is, love the back!! If only the snap in the back would stay put.Zipper has been tugged on too many times by other renters, making it difficult to zip all the way, which impacts whether or not the snap stays snapped.

Got this as a backup & actually wore it because of how great it was! Stunning back & love the high neckline. Makes the dress a little more formal.

The bow came undone when I bent down, but luckily, in a dress like this everyone else does the heavy lifting. I felt like a combination of Marilyn and Audrey in this dress. Classy but sexy. Great sturdy fabric, true fit.

Beautiful black fabric that is rouched in the front making it very flattering. Was true to size. The only complaint is the two snap closures closing the dress kept undoing when I sat - could use a safety pin for extra security. Absolutely would keep this dress if I could.

Thakoon is my favorite designer and this dress was a total knock out. The front of the dress is fitted and rouched but the back is the surprise. Fitted with a giant bow and open back this dress was AMAZING!

This dress came as a back up for a formal affair after the back up size of my first choice became unavailable. I went with my first choice because it fit perfectly in the one size I was sent, but this dress will stay on my list for future rentals. I think the fit is great - although I could have used a 2 and it's so unique. It needs an impressive necklace as the front comes up so high, I felt it needed something to break up all the fabric.

I got both the 0 and the 2 and went with the 0 because it was a little more fitted in the hips. I have a really straight figure and thought the dress was very flattering because it created the illusion of having curves. I got compliments all night long for this dress. It was a little shorter than I had expected and it fit me closer to mid thigh. My only complaint was that sometimes when I bent over to put my shoes on etc. the back button would pop open because the dress didn't have any give (my guess is that this probably could have been solved by going with a larger size). I wore this dress to a black tie affair and felt it was perfect for the event.

Gorgeous dress. Fit a little small, but worth jumping up a size. Wore this to a rehearsal dinner and while it seems simple and demure from the front, the bow on the back takes the dress to another level.

I agree with the other reviewer that the material is not as thick/stiff as one might expect from the picture. Inner lining is a very comfortable soft silk. There's also a hidden belt inside that cinches the waist; one of the belt loops was broken, but it still worked out fine and created the silhouette I wanted. Dress hits a few inches above the knee. Very high neck, higher than traditional boatneck. A different cut from what I am used to, but it created a whole experience and I felt unique in the crowd. Would definitely rent again!

I officiated my best friend's wedding and this dress was perfect. It's classy and the open back adds the right touch of sexy. I was asked "where did you get that dress" all night.

I rented this dress for a charity ball. It was terrific. The fit was perfect, though a bit shorter than expected. I felt sexy and beautiful all evening. Thank you "Rent the Runway" for my Cinderella moment.

I wore this dress to a wedding and it was uber chic! The back is amazing and super sophisticated- perfect for a city wedding. The fit is pretty easy breezy- I wore the Nu Bra since the back is pretty bare!

Very pretty dress. It is a little snug in the hips and I had a problem with it coming unsnapped in the back when I moved.

I would have given this a 5 but I was disappointed that the size 8 wasn't wearable. The zipper only went up 1/2 way and the buttons would not stay snapped. I went with the 10 which was ok but a little bigger than I would wear. Overall the dress is great, classic look in front with some sexiness and style in the dramatic back. I do think it is time to 'refresh' this one so renters can have a functioning dress at size they want.

This dress, for me, was true to size. Other reviews speak of the snaps that would pop open when you sat and I did have the same problem. The party I went to was one where you stand most of the evening so it wasn't that big of a deal. You can't wear a bra with this dress. It has to be a stick on bra.

I wore this dress to a black tie gala. I loved the style, especially the dramatic open back. I did steam it a bit to perk up the bustle in back. And you can not wear a traditional bra underneath. The fabric is thick though, so I was able to go bra-less. I had only two issues, the first being that it was definitely cut for girls with less hip than I have (especially after three children in the last 5 years). It was snug in the hips but wearable. Second, the two small snaps connecting the back of the dress kept popping open when I would sit down. This was likely a function of the tight fit, but they are not terribly strong so it may happen to anyone wearing the dress. It was easily remedied by having someone do a few quick whip stiches where the snaps were and they never opened at the event. All in all it was a lovely dress.

I wore this dress to a college reunion ball. Everyone complimented how elegant my look was. Everything stayed in place even when I danced like crazy. The skirt rides up slightly when sitting but what form-fitting dress doesn't? The fabric is not overly luxurious but certainly doesn't look cheap. It's the silhouette that leaves a mark and the V in the back that makes it stand out. This dress is special and beautiful.

Dress is incredibly well made... has internal straps to hold bow in place. Fits well and true to size if not a tiny bit large. I would order your typical size unless you are smaller around the hips (I found it largest there).

But if you are very thin, even the 0 is a little baggy. BUT I could have worn it and looked smashing. Recommend a black glitzy cuff.

First of all, this dress was gorgeous - so simple and classy. I got tons of compliments!! However, it was a good thing I wore it to a function where I wasn't sitting down much, because it is much shorter than I expected, and the fabric has very little give, so when I sat down I had to be *very* careful to make sure I wasn't giving anyone a peek straight up my skirt. Now, I am somewhat tall (5'10") so this would probably be less of an issue on a shorter girl, but it's something to be aware of as it was a bit of a concern. I usually wear a 6, but ordered this in both a 6 and an 8 and ended up wearing the 8, simply for the length, overall they fit about the same but the 8 was a bit longer. Any bigger and the top would probably have been too big. Overall though, a lovely dress for a formal affair, I would recommend it!

Overall, very nice piece. Looks classic and elegant. It arrived a bit wrinkled, and I was not overly impressed with the fabric (I expected more of a stiff taffeta), so just be sure you can hang it up before wearing it. It was very comfortable to wear, even with the low back. If you have a smaller chest, the dress is fine without a bra, but you can also opt for a nu bra. The back is tasteful and is not overly low, which is perfect for a formal event.

This dress is really cute in the back but the front is a little plain. I got lots of compliments though. If you are taking lots of front facing pictures this dress may not work for you.

The back of the dress was stunning, but the waist had no shape in the front. It was too large and came looking like it had been balled up in someone's suit case.

The bow is heavy and would not stay snapped on.

This dress really didn't fit me. The low back and bustle were really cute, but the front was strangely tight in some places (very high on the neck, and cut in) and baggy in others (around the stomach.) I was disappointed in the dress and wore something else
