I ended up keeping this one. I found it flattering. Only cons were that it was a little tight across my larger hips and it does wrinkle throughout the day. Still looks professional though.

I ordered this in an 8 because I am 12 weeks pregnant and starting to show. I normally wear a 6. Even in an 8, my mini baby bump still showed a bit so I wore a jacket. It was perfect and I will probably rent it again.

I know I'm generally a 0 in Theory, and that was true for this dress. "Power dress" is right! I felt like such a boss wearing this at a trial prep seminar (practicing trial skills in front of judges and peers, so that power vibe was so needed!). This dress is really flattering. There's some padding in the cap sleeves that looks incredible, even on my fairly broad shoulders. The wool is comfortable and breathable, and has incredible stretch. I had no problem stepping up onto buses or walking upstairs during my commute. I felt good in this walking outside on a sunny 75° day and inside in air conditioning. This looked great with a cropped gray collarless blazer. This dress was a little snug on the rear, so I did opt to wear spanx underneath, but the stretch kept it comfortable anyway, so it did still work well on my pear-shaped figure. Love this!

This fits beautifully, so much better in person than in pic. Lovely fabric weight, you can move in it and it doesn't run small at all like most theory clothes. I was able to sit, stand, and go from day to evening in this gem.

Felt like a million bucks in this, which is saying a lot for a basic black work dress. But it is super well made, high quality material with a flattering cut and just a touch of stretch. This will definitely be a go to rental for important work events or interviews. Goes great with a blazer, light jacket or even a cardigan.

Dresses this long and straight usually don't look good on me, but this dress worked! It's the perfect dress to wear under a jacket because of the length. I wore this to work for an important meeting and I felt great! There is a slit in back, which makes is easy to walk around. There's also a bit of padding on the top of the shoulders, which I think adds to the "power" look.

Comfortable material with slightly structured shoulders that gave the dress a unique detailing on an otherwise simple black dress. I prefer my work dresses to have a little room (instead of skin tight), which it did. Back slit was a little high but nothing unmanageable. Overall, pleased and wore more than once.

Wore this to meet a new client and to a funeral. Good length and fabric. The cut was a bit boxy for me but I had to size up to a 10 as that was all that was available. It still worked, but I wonder if an 8 or even a 6 would have been more flattering. The chest in particular was roomy and I'm a nursing mom (though still only a 36C). I also thought the neckline/shoulderline looked a bit odd (bulky?) but addressed this by making sure my long hair lay in front of it.

I liked this dress, but ordered one size too big. It's also too long on my short frame.

Great dress! The shoulders a very lightly padded, which gives the dress great structure, particularly if you have narrow shoulders. Runs slightly small- I tend to be a size 8 but got the 10 based on the recommendation. I think an 8 would have fit but would have been a bit tighter than I prefer for work attire.

For a formal business wear look it gets the job done. It's not very fitted in the waist so that was my biggest complaint.

The slip does come out of the bottom like others said. Maybe a bit fitted in the tummy if you're not slim and toned in the abdomen. Would have liked to show off the cute cap sleeves but rented in fall and wore a jacket over. Not a party dress in my opinion but great for a business meeting or interview.

Dress was really tight and did not fit well. Unfortunately I couldn't wear it. Will size up next time. Besides that it looked beautiful.

I love this dress in theory and would love to purchase it and have it tailored, but as it is now it doesn't work for my pear-shape. When it fits up top it's too small on the bottom.

Great dress for work, slit is a little high in the back if you have longer legs, very classic.

Wore for a work meeting with a simple cardigan and received lots of compliments. Meetinng was out of town and the dress was comfortable to wear during the 6+ hour car drive and traveled well. No wrinkles at all. Will most likely rent again. I'm 5'2, 121 lbs and size 4 was perfect.

This was a perfect, black work dress. Good shape, sophisticated and had a tiny bit of flare with the padded shoulders (felt weird at first but did not look weird at all). Loved it and would wear it again in a heartbeat. Also loved that I could wear it twice in one week but paired with different jackets/shoes because its such a good quality shift.

Simple, but classy. Perfect black sheath to feel polished in the office. Great length, not too fitted. I layered it under a suede jacket.

I am in-between a size 4 & 2, I went with the 4 just because that was what was available. The 4 was a little loose (but still flattering) - I would rent a 2 or a 4 depending on availability again so I would say this runs true to size. Ultimately this is a sophisticated black dress and worked great for my needs!

This is a great dress for work - slimming, doesn't wrinkle easily, and has a chic silhouette. Highly recommended!

Theory at it's best. I'm between a 2 and 4 but went with the 4 because it was slightly looser and better for a traditional workplace.

It's not called the Power Dress for nothing. I felt very Claire Underwood. This simple sheath fit well, was long enough for work, and felt polished. I wish I could afford to buy it.

The shoulder pads are ever so slight and give the dress a nice structure. You can feel the quality in the dress. I am insecure about my lower stomach area, and this was fitted but not too fitted -- it was still very flattering on me! Perfect for work with a pair of pumps, with or without a blazer.

great to wear to work or a work event. the fabric is very comfortable to wear all day and stretchy.
