I wore this dress to a black-tie wedding in Central Park. I was hesitant to order it a) as I didn't think it was dressy enough for a black tie wedding and b) I didn't think the 12 would fit me... but, luckily I was wrong on all accounts and it was the perfect fit & dress!(There was no 10's available so I only ordered the 12.) I am 4 months post-partum and have never been this big (without a baby in me!) and out of all the current reviews, no one was as heavy as I am. The fit couldn't have been more perfect and the length was just right. Also I was worried the long sleeves would be a little snug, but they were very roomy and not restricting at all. It was very chilly that day and I contemplated wearing black hose, but I didn't want it to look like I was going to a funeral so I opted not too. I cannot tell you how many compliments I received on this dress- from strangers and friends alike! It definitely sets itself apart from your typical "black-tie" dress as it's both formal and flirty! It's definitely a showstopper! Since I recently cut my hair pretty short, I wanted my dress to speak for itself and didn't want to travel with a lot of jewelry- it definitely achieved both goals! I paired it with some antique gold clip-ons I had and some Nine West strappy black heels and a black clutch- so easy to accessorize with! Also, since I knew we would have to be walking a bit in Central Park (since that is the only way to get to the Boathouse) I first had on some black flats to walk in and put my heels in my SHAG Shoe Bag. As you can see from my review photo, the SHAG also perfectly complimented this dress! I simply switched my shoes before walking in and checked my SHAG (with my flats in it!) at the coat check. After dancing the night away, boy was I glad to have those flats when the reception ended! Overall, I HIGHLY suggest giving this dress a nod for your next event! I'm a VERY happy renter!

This was an amazing dress. I got compliments all night long, from men and women. I wore it to host a political fundraiser and when our guest speaker, a Congresswoman, got up to speak, SHE even complimented me on it! I figured it would run small, so although I usually wear an 8, I ordered a 10 and 12, and wore the 12. It was so comfortable and so beautiful--just a perfect dress. I noticed in previous rental pics as well as in my home picture that it looked a bit see-through--but that must be a flash issue because it did not have that look at the event. It looked just plain fabulous!

I loved this dress but it was very different than the model photo. I wore this to a night at the symphony with my husband and felt sexy and unique the whole night. The base layer is a metallic nude- not at all black. I wore it with a strapless bra. I loved this dress and would rent it again.

I wore this dress to an annual event I plan and produce for work. Dress code is cocktail attire, so I'm always looking something that is beautiful but also practical. This dress was comfortable and the sheer sleeves kept me from being too warm while running around the event venue. As the other reviews mention, this dress does run a bit small. I ordered a 10 (my usual size) and a 12, and never even tried the 10 on because the 12 fit perfectly. I was a bit worried about the dress being clingy around the mid-section, so I wore high-waisted shapewear undies and a strapless bra. I felt that the embroidery on the front helped to create a slimmer looking waistline as well. The sleeves are full-length, not 3/4 as shown on the model. I completed the look with a pair of BCBG gold studded pumps. The dress is absolutely gorgeous on - everyone I spoke with commented on how amazing it was. The best was how much a couple I didn't even know wanted to comment on how I was rocking the look - both the man and woman wanted to know about the dress, my shoes, where I got them, etc.

While the pictures of this dress are amazing, even they don't do it justice. It's a modest-cut: long sleeves, high neck, falls below the knee, BUT it's form-fitting and sheer so it still has A LOT of sex appeal. I wore this dress to the wedding of my friends, Devin and Dan, where I was to sing. The place was packed with handsome, stylish gay men and their gorgeous lady friends so, the fact that this dress was such a huge hit is really saying something. I'm not exaggerating when I say that I couldn't get ten feet without being stopped by a complete stranger to rave about my dress. Same thing happened in the hotel, and on the street. The picture of the model would lead you to believe that the under-layer of the dress is black but, in fact, it's a dusty pink color, almost nude. It's definitely tight, I normally wear a 4 pretty comfortably but, to zip this baby up I had to squeeze myself into some spanx first. TOTALLY WORTH IT. Once I had it zipped up, though, it felt great. I danced all night with no problems. I would definitely rent this dress again and can't recommend it, or the whole Rent The Runway experience, highly enough. I'm pretty sure I brought this company a whole lot of business by how much I was raving about it all night.

Very striking dress that requires only simple jewelry because of the rich details - it is stunning and very memorable. It's a good dress to rent rather than buy because it stands out so much, I probably wouldn't wear it more than a few times - I like to switch things up. However, it was so pretty, I was actually sad to send it back. The mesh and embroidered fabric is very delicate, however, so it has to be handled with care, and don't wear any jewelry while putting it on.

This dress was so elegant. Two sizes up from my normal dress size fit perfectly. Loved the gold details.

Dress fit true to size, zipper was a little tricky. It's a hair tight at the neck. My dress was a little worn, has some pilling on the sleeves and some lose gold threads, but no one else noticed. It was an absolute show stopper and I felt stunning. Highly recommended.

The dress I originally ordered was damaged and deactivated two days before my event, so I had a last-minute scramble to find a dress that would still work for a 1920s cocktail party I was hosting. Customer service was great to allow me an open budget due to the inconvenience, so I went for it. Before getting it all the way zipped up, I was skeptical. But, once I did - it truly was beautiful. Fit the theme, and was an amazingly comfortable, easy-to-wear dress that got lots of compliments. Would've been five stars if not for the VERY static-ridden lining. Beautiful, nonetheless!

The dress is what you imagine Ice Skaters wear during performances, delicate, tight to the body and loads of embroidery and detail. The dress is sturdy and has amazing craftsmanship. I had a bit of an issue zipping it up, it took another person to assist to get it on. In the end, it felt fit in all the right places. I wore no bra because the bra was no permitting a zip. I'm usually a 4 across the bored for all designers. Sometimes with High End/ Couture it can get snug with certain bras, or top shaping can complicate it for me based on the style the designer wants to evoke, but usually I get in with NO problem. Going bra-less solved the issue due the fragility of the mesh I didn't want to risk hurting the garment. Size 6 is my default to size up sometimes, but the 2nd dress was not even the same or style I could EVER wear. I tried it but it looked dated on me. WAY TO 80's, in not a good way, nothing like the photo of the model for that dress. SO I had no choice but to make size 4 work. It did and I believe the next size up would have required a belt in the waist area to make it more fitted, which happens a lot to me. Photographically, it did complement the style, era of the place and Historic Hotel. It made me feel amazing and does not need much accessories, but an evening bag, shoes and perhaps a shall. The dress is the main focal point.

Loved the sheer sleeve, it was perfect for my July meeting in air conditioning! It was a great length!

At first the dress was snug but after wearing it an hour it seemed to have stretched and became more comfortable. I received many compliments on the dress. One thing though, this dress is more suited for cooler weather so I'd wear it to a fall or winter event instead of spring and summer (which I did). Even though the sleeves are mesh, the high neck and fabric can get too warm. Overall, the dress was stunning.

I was a super star in this dress. Loved it and can't wait for another occasion so I can wear it again.

It is beautiful & special & I received so many compliments. Paired it with black patent leather heels & clutch & small dangly gold earrings. Wore my hair back. Wish I had taken a picture to post because it was so pretty.

The fit was perfect. The 4 was not available for the date I needed to I wore the six and it was fine. it came in a little at the waist without suffocating me and flared out just enough. I was worried the gold would look cheap in real life, but it was very elegant. The wedding was in the afternoon, but the reception went into the evening and with a change of accessories, it transitioned beautifully.

Selfishly, I've been hesitating to write a review that will just make this dress more popular. This is a lovely dress, that will make you feel pretty and special. Despite the over-the-top gilding, somehow the long sleeve, high collar cut keeps it more elegant than flashy. Also, if like me you don't have much of a waist, this dress will give you one. I felt really 'girly' in a mad men kind of way. I would buy this dress if it were available. Great fit.

I am 5'3" 32D and found the dress to be very true to size. I picked a size 2 and snug but extremely comfortable. As I am a little hippy it is very flattering.

IT fit perfectly around the waist and in the arms. Everyone complimented me on it. I wish i could have kept it.

This dress did run a bit small. I usually wear a size 0 or 2, but I needed the 4. Could not even zip the size 2.

This was a lovely dress, good length and a nice fit but did run a little small. The fabric has no give to it. The embroidery had several spots (right in front) that were not in good condition and needed repair. Since I can sew, I fixed several of them. I got a lot of compliments on this dress. It is comfortable and unique but also delicate.

I did not think it was cleaned before I received it.

decided against wearing the dress as the material was a stiff mesh and i felt, on second trying on, that it was not the sophisticated dress I needed to wear. The dress and lining were too creased to steam out. Sleeves were too long and buckled at the wrist, Overall, not a dress I felt I could wear.

I packed this dress back up right after trying it on. It was junk and I would not recommend anyone every renting it. In fact I would advise Rent the Runway to remove it from their inventory. The sleeves go pass your wrists and have a disgusting little button. It does not flow but the lining sticks to the lace overlay. I was sorely disappointed and I am still waiting on the credit for returning it. Two of the last two rental have been a bomb and I do not mean it in a good way.

This dress was beautiful and fit like a glove. I wore it to a masquerade themed gala and was perfect! I received compliments all night. Wish I could have kept it, my husband loved it.

I wore my true size, but the dress was snug. One size up, if available, would have been better. The lining was not black, as depicted in the picture, which I would have liked better. The dress is showing signs of wear--brocade trim is fraying in places, a few snags, etc. But still, a beautiful dress that people complimented all night long.
