Lightweight & forgiving

This dress was everything I dreamed it would be for the masquerade ball. There is definitely more black in it than it appears in the model picture, but it was perfect for my black & gold mask. It drapes in a lovely but forgiving manner (important to this mother of three). The back of the dress is sexy without being risque. I pretty much never wear a dress without a bra, and I forgot to order some fashion tape, but I felt comfortable the entire evening; everything stayed where it was supposed to. The length was just right with short heels. Received compliments the entire evening. All in all, a stunning dress that makes you feel amazing.

beautiful gown—it's drapey & be sure to order a smaller size!

i wore this for my sister's 40th "red-carpet hollywood" themed birthday party, and i got compliments all night. the fabric has an expensive-looking weight and it's not high-wattage lamé; the effect is more of a more burnished glimmery gold. i am only 5' tall, so the gown was a bit long for me, but i just wore my super-tallest heels—jeffrey campbell platforms, you can look up the "damsel" studded wedge for reference—and they worked! the back is really elegant with the strap in the back. you pretty much have to go braless on this one due to the plunging neckline and the open back. i'd advise getting some fashion tape so you don't have any surprises when you get on the dancing floor! i would totally rent this dress again, and potentially trying the 4R as well (it runs quite roomily).

Fit for a queen

It has been a while since I rented this dress but I still think about it. It is one of my favorites. I have rented 8L and 6L. Not much difference between the two sizes but 6L was a bit more fitted. I love the material! Length was perfect with 4 inch heels. Sadly, I didn't get a chance to take good or enough pictures of it. Yes, Marilyn would admire it and I wish that I could own it!

Grecian Goddess-like

I wore this dress for a black tie work dinner. It was such an amazing dress and I felt so beautiful in it. However, the dress does run a bit large, I could have definitely sized down. I also probably should have ordered the R length - I am 5'7" and wore 3" heels and the dress was still too long. You can't tell from the pics but the dress is actually bronze with little black stripes. Super gorgeous dress if you are looking to make a statement. I wish I had a better picture of the back but it is simply beautiful.

Grecian-inspired glam!

This gown is so gorgeous - I felt like a goddess in it! It feels and looks like you are wearing liquid gold. It does run a bit large though and the waist is elastic so I would definitely size down from your normal size.

Loved the dress super comfy and chic

Got multiple compliments all night, the dress looks better in person. The back is to die for... Dress definitely runs large I could have gone down another size since it was loose in the chest area. Double sided tape was my friend! Loved the dress and RTRs whole service, my original dress fell through and they helped me find a replacement along with matching accessories! Will rent again!

Needed a formal dress for a black tie advertising awards ceremony.

Loved the color. Felt super glamourous. Kinda old hollywood meets grecian goddess. This dress did require lots of styling tape and a stick on bra to keep the girls in. The length on the 4L was perfect for 4in heels.

Super comfortable to wear!!! A little long but with the right shoes, it was a huge success!!

I ordered a 6L and a 4r, and the 4 fit great. A little big on top, but made it work. It was great for my masquerade black tie event.

Not a worry about length and very comfortable

The only glitch was having to pin the inside of the bustline for coverage though it worked just fine.

Every block I walked down no less than 2 people stopped me to compliment this dress.

tape was helpful to keep things in place. I should have ordered a size smaller.

Very Glam!

I would normally order an 8, but the 4 fit me. The top definitely requires fashion tape. And the back is amazing. Oh and the length was perfect for 4 inch heels... I would rent this again.

This dress was very comfortable and very flattering! Got a lot of compliments on it!

It ran large, I actually had ordered the smaller size but it felt a little bit shorter so I kept with the larger size. It is very flattering! I wore a sticky nu-bra with it and it worked great!

Really pretty dress!

This was a backup dress for me, and they only had the 10L. I loved the fabric and the way it moved, but it was much too big. I have an hourglass shape, and was about 6 weeks post partum. It was great for my post baby belly and nursing chest, but being so large it made me look frumpy. I definitely could have worn an 8, and possibly even a 6.

Two people said I looked like a goddess!

As many have said, this dress runs large. I am typical a six. The 4 fit well, though still slightly large on top. I felt great in this dress, and it's very easy to wear. I was a bit surprised at the quality of the lining, given the retail price of this dress, but the primary fabric and cut are gorgeous. I had a great night in this gown!

Not the dress for me. Obvious wearing and tearing

This dress was sent as a back up when my original was returned damaged. It made me look pregnant and had obvious signs of wear. The gold was tuned off in places on front and back. This particular dress should be retired

Ehh

It's darker in real life than in the pictures, in my opinion, also ran very large.

Beautiful but HUGE!

The dress itself is just as pretty in person, but sadly it didn't fit. I rented this gown because I have a curvy frame and I thought this cut and style would definitely fit and be flattering… unfortunately it was WAY too big. I am between a 6 and 8. so I listened to the reviews and ordered the 6. It was literally hanging off of me and there was no way to make it work. I recommend sizing WAY down!

Not like the photo...

I really wanted to like this dress, especially given the high rental price. You can't see in the photo, but it has small black pinstripes which make it a little more bronze than gold in person. While I was happy that it was less glitzy, I didn't care for the pinstripes. Also, the fit in the back is not like the photo in the model at all. Instead of fitting taught, it's very droopy in the back, in a not flattering way. I called Rent the Runway and they said that's how it fits. If that's the case, they should have photographed it on the model that way. It just wasn't flattering at all. I didn't wear it.

Frumpy, boxy, be careful

Fail! I rented this based on the picture of the model; I am tall and not very curvy, and it looks great on her. But I think RTR surely did some taping and adjusting to get it to fit their model like that. On me, the top billowed out to gape at the chest and was wide and boxy - unwearable. The waistline made it even more frumpy on my frame. Perhaps this is better fitted to a woman with true goddess curves. Also it is not "gold" but a kind of bronze-with-a-greenish hue, with black pinstriping. A slightly tricky color. I couldn't wear either size and it was $200+ down the drain, alas! (Couldn't find a backup dress that was avail for my dates either). I would love to know if RTR did a bit of stylist or photoshop magic to get their photograph... Be careful of this gown. Maybe dependent on your body type but it's borderline frumptastic.
