Loved this dress - I wore it as a bridesmaid dress (directive was long/navy); it was unique and flattering - the fabric felt amazing and I got a ton of compliments on it. Stomach area had a little give & the front rouging hides nicely and worked well for my little pregnant belly! I'm usually a 0 but was 14 weeks pregnant & starting to get a little fuller than normal, I ended up going with this dress which was the backup dress, size 2, and it fit perfectly (though quite snug around my ribs).

The length was perfect and the fabric was to die for. I give it a 10.

Nice to wear an elegant dress that was a different color than the sea of black. VERY comfortable fabric and not a tight fit, so every bump or bulge doesn't show. Wear the tape they send to tape up side where there isn't a sleeve, it was a little big on me there so it would have helped. Would be best for a tall person because it's a lot of fabric. I'm 5'9 1/2". Loved it. Recommend it! I wouldn't wear a necklace, would take away from dress. Big sparkly earrings and bracelet!

This was a beautiful dress for a black tie event. It fit like a glove! The waist and bust are very fitted and zip closed, so be sure not to order a size down. I am almost 5'4" and the regular length was perfect on me with 3 inch heals. I didn't feel the need to wear a necklace because of all the detailing up top. The fabric can get a little static-y, so use some dryer sheets or static guard to spray on your before you get dressed. I didn't need to reply the static guard the rest of the night - it was fine. It wasn't as form fitting from the waist down, which was good for fit reasons. But I just felt it didn't give me quite the shape I wanted on the bottom. But I was happy with the overall look! A very beautiful dress to rent for a formal event!

I wore this for a black tie event filled with colleagues and work peers, and this was perfect. It was definitely fitted throughout, yet still comfortable enough to last the night. I felt like myself, but didn't feel like I was showing anything inappropriate for a work function.

After reading a previous review of this dress that listed it as like a "choir robe", I admit that I was a tad apprehensive when I received this gown and initially saw a sea of heavy blue cloth (indeed, just like the choir robes of childhood memory). However, when I put it on, I realized that the gown absolutely delivers. I wore this for a Valentine's Day black-tie affair. It's classy without verging on dowdy. It's elegant without edging on pretentious. It's the perfect dress to wear to a black tie event without looking like you put too much effort or are "over the top" (so key in Washington DC). I got a slew of compliments on the dress (and the necklace pairing from J Crew) and felt like a veritable socialite in the dress, paired with my boyfriend in his tuxedo. There are some contradictory reviews on the length too - I'm 5'4" and wore 4 inch heels and the 2L fit but was much, much too long. The 4R was a tad looser but a good length for a girl my height with heels. Hope you enjoy this dress as much as I did!!

This dress was beautiful, gorgeous color, probably should have gone up a size but they didn't have the next size up so I gave the 4R a shot, really enjoyed the whole shopping experience and process as well, very well thought out, this will be my first thought for the next event.

This dress drapes beautifully, but the fit is a little funny. It bunched a little in the hips and it was tough to find undergarments that wouldn't be visible. I was able to wear it to my friend's wedding reception and received several compliments. I sized up in this dress. I am average height, but in 4 inch heels, this dress was just a tad short. Overall, I really did love this dress. Just a few little tweaks would have made it perfect.

The color and cut/draping of the dress is really lovely, the fabric is so luxe. I think it can be a bit volumizing to hourglass types. I am busty but I have a small waist. I had to size up to an 8 when I'm normally a 4 or 6. I was forewarned about the bust thanks to other reviews and was very glad I sized up, the 6 fit everywhere but I couldn't zip the bust. For that reason the waist was too roomy and looked a bit bulky in photos. Nevertheless it was a perfect wedding dress - elegant and chic, not too sexy.

It has and extra layer of fabric that can be used to make a let around your waist.

Fit was perfect. My heels were 5 inches so even though the dress was 4 long, my shoes showed a little. Tall girls like me should consider wearing 4 inches of heels or less. It was a stunning dress all in all. Compliments all over. Very regal I would say.

The dress I had ordered was too long. So, I called a stylist and they overnighted 2 other dresses for the next day. This was the dress. It fit perfectly, and the length was too. I can't wait to use this service again.

True to the reviews, this gown was small in bust, so if you have a larger ribcage and/or chest size, order one size up. I'm glad I ordered the 4L. My heels were 5" and would have been too tall for the regular length. I accessorized with mint green jewel drop earrings and a sapphire/mint cuff. It made the dress modern and young.

The dress was great, fit perfectly, looked beautiful and was comfortable. I really enjoyed wearing it. I thought the sizing was spot on.

This is such a gorgeous gown! The material is so silky and drapes beautifully, very comfortable. I wore it to a benefit, and it was a hit. I read the other reviews and made sure to size up---I usually wear between a 2 and 4. With the side zip (which is always tougher to zip for me because of my large rib cage and swimmer's shoulders) I decided to go 4R and 6R. The 4 didn't zip, the 6R was a little roomy but it still looked fantastic. The length was perfect, I'm 5'4" and wore 1 1/2" heels that looked like they were hemmed to go with the dress. Highly recommend!

I loved wearing this dress! It was something different and worked perfectly for an early spring black tie wedding. The dress was snug in all the right places (under the arm, waist, bum) and being able to cinch it with the belt made the fit extra-perfect. I love Alice Temperley's feminine, sophisticated and fun silhouettes. All-around winner.

I loved, LOVED this gown! The color is perfect for a pale lass such as myself, and the fabric is a good-quality, medium weight satin. It hangs well and doesn't wrinkle too easily. I'd recommend that anyone who is on the borderline between sizes order up - I'm a 6 in most clothes, but I could barely zip the dress up around my bust (I'm a D.) Also, if you're tall the long will not hit the ground in heels - the long size on me hit around my arches.

Definitely size up 1-2 sizes on this one - unless you have a very slim waist. Even with Spanx, I couldn't even zip this dress up! Very nice material and would've been perfect for my event but unfortunately, didn't work out at all.

I ended up not wearing this because I like my backup dress better. It was a pretty dress but I'm not sure the one shoulder style works for my body type. Very nice silk charmeuse material and extremely well made. It looked like the lining was silk also, so I probably wouldn't wear this during the summer...it could get really hot. I would get the long if you plan on wearing 3.5 inch heels. I'm 5'4" and in my heels the dress was almost touching the floor...

Fit was too small and it just didn't look right on me

I absolutely loved the color! The dress was a little tight over my 32A chest and ribs, yet too big through my hips. Also, I wore a 4R which ended up hitting the top of my feet without shoes and showing my ankles. I had to wear flats ( I found some navy patent the same color as dress to kind of blend with the dress). The 4L was unavailable or I definitely would have worn the long. I really wasn't going to wear this dress because of it being too short, but my husband really disliked the backup dress. If you are 5'4 or taller, I would definitely choose the long. I felt the short length made it look frumpy.

This is a lovely dress. This runs a bit small in the bustline. I'm not particularly large (34c) not overweight - but couldn't zip up the torso (hips were fine). Since the size up wasn't available, I couldn't wear it and went with a second dress I'd rented as backup. Wish I could've though!

This dress was not for me. I knew it as soon as I opened the bag. It felt like a choir robe and was not flattering. It runs very small and was not able to zip it up all the way. Glad I had a backup dress from rent the runway that worked perfectly!

Looks amazing but was kinda small and a little short

The dress design itself is fabulous--very elegant and classic. I ordered this as my first choice but actually ended up wearing a back up selection due to the sizing of the dress. Definitely size up because the fabric does not have give! It was both tight in the bust and the hip area. The fabric was substantial and satiny, it did not feel like cheap material or poor construction. The dress arrived with some wrinkle in the bottom hem, however, I hung it up overnight and the light wrinkle fell out on its own. The belt that arrived was not the same as the sash shown in the pictures.

I got this dress as an extra from RTR because something got messed up with my order, but I didn't end up wearing it. Nothing against the dress, just didn't fall right on my body. Beautiful material and very elegant!

Dress is pretty but the length for a 6L was still too short for me. I'm 5'10" and even with no shoes on it wasn't hitting the floor. I rented this as a back-up and wore the other dress which fit perfectly and was just beautiful in person. The fabric of this one also looked a little cheap to me. Loved the style of it though - the one-shoulder look with the tie is really pretty in person.

This dress is a very nice, deep purple color. It is very comfortable and forgiving, but unfortunately I felt like I was wearing a robe, which is not exactly the look I was going for. The worst part though, this dress smelled so bad... very musty, and I don't think I could have dealt with that all night, even with perfume.
