I used my back up size a 2R. It fit perfectly but was way too long even with heels (I'm 5'4").

There wasnt much difference between the 2R and 4R, primarily more room in the hips. I'm 5'5" and with heels the length was great. Wore regular bra and also worked out well. Definitely recommend - cut outs were tasteful, but also recommend Spanx underneath! You can still wear even with cut out in back.

This dress was not my first choice but I’m so glad I chose this in the end. The fit is amazing. I have bigger hips and a butt so I was a little concerned that it wouldn’t flatter my figure but it accentuated my curves. The cut out in the back is sexy and in the perfect location. I could wear my spandex without showing and a regular bra. I’m 5’8” and wore 3 inch heels. I got the regular length because long was not available. The dress was a little short but not a big deal. I got compliments all night long and my husband really wanted to buy it! My only regret was having to send it back. By the way, had an issue with returning it. On my end, RTR’s and their customer service is top notch. They were prompt, courteous and amazing as always. I love rent the runway!

This dress is flattering and the weight of it is perfect for dancing. I have a large chest (34DDD) and it was important to me to find a dress that has sex appeal, but that I can still wear a normal bra with for support. This dress was perfect. The cutouts at the side were flattering and I still was able to wear a bra. Overall, the fabric is light enough not to be hot, but the double layer of fabric provided great coverage and looked slimming especially through my midsection (my problem area). I highly recommend this dress for any formal event where you will be dancing the night away!

This dress is sooooo comfortable. It doesn't snag or pull, it stays in place all night. Very comfortable, not too lightweight but not heavy either. The slits on the side make it different and even though its just a black dress I received several compliments wearing it. I LOVED IT

This dress is incredible! The bottom flows like a dream when you walk, and the cutout is such a fun detail that still allows you to wear a normal bra. I have rented from RTR many times, and this was definitely the best one yet. Highly recommended!

very cute, comfy dress. even with the peekaboo stuff going on in the back, it felt very modest and classy. it ran mostly true to size but the waist was a touch big on me (maybe a petite would have helped but it wasn't available when i ordered).

I'm 5'7", about 125 lbs, small-chested and have pretty narrow hips. This dress fit wonderfully! It looked so nice on, was made out of a really nice material, and was very comfortable to wear. It's also such a fun dress to dance in since the bottom flairs out. Got a bajillion compliments! Wish i could have kept it forever!!

The dress was very comfortable and flattering. I loved how it was conservative but fun at the same time. This dress can be dressed up or down and I highly recommend it for a taller gal with an athletic body type like myself. Overall totally loved the dress, yet again RTR did not disappoint.

The dress came a couple days before the event and fit perfectly, I didn't even try on the backup size. I am normally a 4-6 in dresses, but knowing evening wear tends to run small AND with reading the reviews, I decided to size up to the 8P. The dress didn't even need to be steamed or ironed on arrival. I did have to wear 3 1/2" heels, but that comes with the territory of being short. The dress was perfect for my black tie formal event and was even easy to dance in. Towards the end of the night, it did get a little warm in the dress, but living in Florida that tends to happen. I actually looked up this dress online to see if I could buy it (to no avail), that's how much I loved this dress!

The fit was perfect and it hugged in all the right areas. I loved the back cutout and it was the right amount of sass without going overboard. Great to dance in too! I wore 3 inch heels in this photo and I didn't have to hold the dress up all night which was awesome. Highly recommend this class black dress!

I rented this for a wedding. The cut was super flattering and I was able to wear a normal bra with it! However, it was so incredibly long. I had to use fashion tape to tape up almost 5 inches in the front in order to wear it (even with heels)!

I am truly between a 4 and a 6 (130lbs, 5'3) the 4 was a little too tight so I went with the 6. I definitely needed to petite because I'm 5'3, but they didn't have the 6 in P. Got compliments on this all night! I'm renting it again for another event. LOVE

Absolutely loved this dress! Would definitely rent a again! I'm 5'0 and rented the petite ... I wore heels and it was still pretty long, that was the only downfall!

Dress was great! At 5'2", I was worried about renting a long dress in fear that it would be way too long. The petite size fit perfectly! I wore 3" heels and the length was great. The cut out in the back was such a fun addition to the dress - it was perfect!

This dress fit very true to size, except I never would have ordered a Long if I hadn't read the other reviews (even though I'm 5'9", regular size lengths usually fit me better). The one thing I wish I knew before renting this dress was that you NEED A FRIEND TO HELP YOU BUTTON THE BACK. Unless you are a contortionist, it's near impossible to get the dress all the way buttoned without straining something. Once in the dress, though, it was great -- easy to sit, fun to spin and dance in, and made me feel great (and got some compliments)!

Spandex - like material that fit perfect and was simple yet dressy

Love the button detail and open back. It had a nice twirl effect when dancing. Long enough for stiletto heels. Only issue was the openings on the sides were a little tight and at times caused a little unflattering bulging when leaning or bending over.

I loved the fit and feel of this dress. The cutouts fell nicely above my waist and the length (6R) was perfect with 4-in heels. The fabric was heavy enough that it flattered my shape. It was comfortable for an entire night of standing and sitting. I chose to wear the back-up size (6R) since I knew I would be eating and drinking and wanted some room to breath. It was a good choice. But the 4L, which was my original request, would have probably worked fine too. I chose a 4L originally since the 4R wasn't available. I would love to have an occasion to rent this dress again. It really stood out and made me feel glamorous!

I rented this dress for a Charity Ball and it was perfect! Fit is true to size I am 5'8" and the long hit just right with about 3 inch heels. The cut out sides/back are just enough to add a little spice to a black dress! Would definitely rent again!

It fit true to size and wasn't too long on my 5'4" frame, although I did have to use hem tape around the mid-section to make the open section fit where I wanted it to. It looks best with good posture, so shoulders back, ladies!

Fit true to size, the 2R was nearly the same fit as the 4R but the back sat slightly more relaxed on my back. Went from constricting to merely draping along the back...much more comfortable for sitting and dancing. Received complaments alllll night on it. Will definitely find an excuse to rent again!

This dress fitted me like a glove. I'm pear shape, athletic, 5'4 and normally a size 10. The material is great, and the cut extremely flattering. No need for a special bra. I got a bunch of compliments on this one. This was not my first choice, and I got it as a spare style, but it was so perfect I had to wear it.

I got the 8P! It was perfect length for me being 5'0" and my 3 inch heels! I got so many compliments on it all night. It's elegant but really fun too. Very comfortable. Wore a real bra and danced the night away. I would say go up a size b/c it was snug around my ribs where the cut out is but I never was uncomfortable. I will 100% be renting this again. It was hard to send it back.

This dress was awesome, I’m so glad I decided to go with it. It fit like a glove. It was so easy to move around and dance in, which is a plus. It was so pretty and classy and I got so many compliments. I am 5’7 and wore the 2L and could only wear about 2 inch heels with it, so if you’re my height or taller make sure to go with the long!! All around, 10/10 I loved it.

I am 5’2” and with heels was still just a little long, but other than that it was perfect!!!! For like a glove and was very flattering! The material was very high quality I am sad to send it back!

The reason a said it runs small is because of the cutout! If there had been no cutout, the 12 would have fit perfect. I’m a “thickish” girl and the 12 squeezed my “love handles” in the 12 when I moved! The 14 had a little more wiggle room and I was more comfortable in it. I’m 5”7.5’ and the length was perfect in heels! The fabric was very nice! It was a beautiful, elegant gown and I felt great in it! Got many compliments!!!

I rented this dress for my company Holiday party and really loved it! I was worried the cut outs would feel a little too revealing but it was still a super tasteful and fun dress. I ordered the regular and long length and ended up going with the long length. I felt the dress ran pretty true to size. I would definitely rent this again!

Loved this dress- very thick beautiful material. As others have said, there is no stretch and the dress runs true to size/a bit small. There was no 0R available but the 2R seemed to be the same length as the 0L, both were very long (I'm 5'5 with 3 inch heels) and I had to hold the skirt when walking. Got to wear a regular bra which Is such a plus! Cutouts were extremely flattering. Overall definitely would rent again!
