A Sparkly Evening of Intrigue

I wore this to a friend's intrigue party set just before WWI. My husband and I were assigned the roles of Russian nobles. The dress fit nicely, but it was definitely on the longer side for as I am short. I picked an 8 but went with the 10 to be able to move around more easily. Some of the sequins are starting to come lose, so just be careful not to snag it on anything.

Ok, the fit was great, I am VERY busty and this did a little squeezing, but I was fabulous. I was complimented all night on the dress by both women and men. I went to a Black Tie wedding and I felt this was perfect. The wedding was in May (2016) and I wasn't too hot or too cool. I needed an additional size and instead of it being shipped to my house in DC, had it sent to Nashville. It arrived right on time! I will be ordering from this site for all the upcoming weddings I have this summer.

Gorgeous, sequined gown perfect for a formal night out!

Photos don't do this dress justice, especially the color. I wore this to The Kennedy Center for an evening show, and I can't tell you how many people stopped me to tell me how beautiful it looked. The color is this stunning rose with gold accents, and it shimmers with little sequins in the pattern. I loved that I could wear regular undergarments and it was very comfortable sitting for the two and a half hour show. I generally wear a 4 and size up to a 6 in tighter fits. I rented from the Georgetown store and they only had a 4 available, but a 2 would have been much better, as this dress was very loose. In fact, I could even close the 0 they had in store comfortably- the only reason I didn't go with it was that it seemed a little too narrow for my broad shoulders. Definitely size down at least one size! It's also very long- I'm 5'9" and was able to wear two and a half inch heels with this easily.

Stunning Dress

This dress is BEAUTIFUL. I love the color and the vintage feel of the dress. Now about fit. I originally ordered the 18L with the 16L being the backup. I was notified 2 days before the event (a black tie wedding out of state) that the dress was unavailable for shipment. This is after I had gotten accessories to match. This is the first time this has happened and I was not pleased. So they sent the 16L and another dress as replacement for the original one I ordered and it didn't fit either. My first not so great RTR experience :( However, the 16L was perfect in length. I am 5'8-5'9 and with a 2.5 inch heel this dress hit the floor just fine (in the picture I am on the beach with heels sinking in so don't go by the photo on length). The dress zipped but I had to wear double spanx as it was tighter in the stomach area than I wanted. It was also tight in the chest - even without a bra. I used a wrap to hide some problem areas but overall, lots of compliments. This dress was damaged too (a couple hole here and there and missing sequins) but you could not tell unless you looked close. It does snag on itself really easily and it is not the easiest to untangle. Also I'd suggest wearing your hair up because your hair will snag in the sequins. I paired it with simple jewelry and nude sandals and it was beautiful. I usually do wear an 18 in special occasion dresses so the fact that this fit makes me think it ran a bit large. I would order both the 18 and 16 if you're on the fence.

A huge success. Comfortable and I felt great in it. Lots of compliments, too.

Fits true to size. I normally wear a 14/16 and it was lose enough to really comfortable. I am 5'1" so I wore some great wedges and the length was perfect.

Comfortable, covered, tons of compliments!

This dress is not something I would normally wear, however I had a Long Island beach wedding (lots of sequins) and thought this would be fun. The dress is super comfortable you can wear a normal bra, and the lining is thick enough to conceal bumps (aka no spanx needed) but not so heavy that it is warm. I also liked that it covered my arms without any added weight. This dress works really well on an hourglass and I got compliments all night. I think I could have actually gone down a size, but this was super comfortable and a great length for a three inch heel as well.

It is a beautiful dress! Very delicate overlay to keep attention to, but nonetheless gorgeous!

gorgeous gown

this is a really gorgeous gown - I felt like the center of attention as it shimmered amongst the others in attendance. it is a lovely rose gold color, and the sequin detail is beautiful, although I did feel a bit like I was leaving a trail of sequins behind me, and I had to snip a few loose threads sticking out. overall the fit is true to size - I would have liked to wear the 14 (my normal size) as it fit better through the body, but the length was too short (14R) to wear with heels, so I went with the 16L, which was a little looser and a bit long (but anything is better than a too-short ball gown!). the loose fit worked with the style of the dress though. I would recommend wearing shapewear as there is no structure to the gown. you can wear a regular bra though, which was a huge selling point for me :)

Loved it!!

Loved the fit! I have a "tree trunk" body aka no waist so sheath and empire dresses work well on my body type. This dress was so flattering and I loved the color!

Stylist Review

Rose gold sequins are so on-trend right now, and this mosiac-patterned gown by Slate and Willow is no exception. This style runs true to size with plenty of room at the arms and bust, but I recommend sizing up for full hips. The slip underneath is stretchy, though the sequin overlay has no give. Regardless, I found this dress to be super comfortable and easy to move around in. It is fitted throughout the midsection so Spanx are recommended if you are uncomfortable with that area, and you can also wear with a standard bra. The neckline was not too deep for my full bust, but some very slight cleavage did show. At 5'2" with 2 1/2 inch heels, the Regular length perfectly touched the floor. Sparkle and shine at your next black tie event while keeping your accessories simple with minimal jewelry and nude heeled sandals.

Rented this for a "Gatsby" themed wedding. With the right styling it fit the bill.

Pros: Sparkly, comfortable, I liked the sleeves. Worked for a "black tie"/Halloween Gatsby wedding. I stood our among all the short, fringed or sequined dressed. Cons: Runs very large. Not super flattering (maybe better if you have a larger chest?). Sequins do fall off and there are some snags but if you wear it to an evening event, no one will know. Lots of fabric on the bottom so it made it somewhat hot to dance in.

so comfortable, so glam

I'm a 36D with a generous booty, a poochy tummy, a short torso and am only 5'2". Finding something that makes me feel fabulous is very difficult, especially on RTR when everything is sleeveless and caters to stick thin gals. I'll be honest, I wasn't excited about this dress when I ordered it but when I got it, I was pleased with how much prettier it was in person. The dress I got had definitely been through the ringer: loose threads everywhere (especially on the sleeves), a couple of holes and one of the hanger straps was completely gone with a hole in the dress lining remaining. But once it was on, you couldn't see any of those imperfections. I paired this with dark red/burgundy 2" heels and the length was perfect. I wore my hair down and while it snagged a little bit on the dress, it wasn't that bad. The dress getting caught on itself was more of a hassle but overall, not that annoying. I normally wear a 12 but since this dress runs large, I went with a 10. The 10 was even a bit roomy and I could have probably pulled off an 8 with some spanx but who wants to squash into spanx if they don't have to?

Very pretty and comfy, gets stuck on itself a lot.

It was a verrry pretty dress. The sequins however, get stuck to the netting constantly. So you're constantly unsnagging it. When it arrived it had a bunch of loose threads I had to trim off and a few tiny tears in the netting near the underarms. Nothing anyone would notice since the sequins distract. Very comfortable, snagging aside. The 16 actually, fit me better, but I went a size up so it wasn't as tight at my large bust. This made it a little loose in the waist, but it still looked great. I got tons of compliments all night from strangers.

Gorgeous

This beautiful dress is light and comfortable but runs on the large side. I'm usually a 8 but the 6 still had plenty of room to spare and I probably would have fit into a 4 comfortably. The long length was perfect for me as at 5'10 with 2 inches heels

Beautiful dress, but gets caught on everything.

I would have liked for it to be more form fitting, so I would suggest going a size down if you like your dresses to hug your curves. My boyfriend said the dress didn't appreciate my body enough, I convinced him it was a wedding look and not the club look. I may have been trying to convince myself though because it was my only option. Don't wear your hair down because it will snag. The dress also snags on everything including itself. I found myself untangling at times. it was a really pretty dress that sparkles really bright. I received a lot of compliments. i wore black open toe heals, but nothing fancy because the dress was already a show stopper. It fits perfectly (true to size) at the top but than get loose after the stomach. One picture I have my heels on which my dress didn't drag, but once I took off my heels to dance it dragged to the floor. Sleeves were a nice length, breathable, loose fit. If I had actually gone down a size I’m not for sure if the top would have fit. If i knew I would have went a size down and my regular size as the backup.

Looks even better when worn, the design looks great when moving.

Fits true to size, sleeves are very loose. The sequins can catch, but that was expected. This looks fantastic when you wear it, there is a design under the sequins that help it sparkle more as you walk.

Too big.

I rented this dress for a wedding. The material is beautiful, but the dress runs very large. I am usually a size 6-8 and the size 4 was big on me. I did not wear the dress ultimately due to the fit.
