I didn't actually wear this. It was one of several possibilities for an event. The day of the event was cold so I went with the long sleeve option, but I loved this dress too. It's very flattering and fairly comfortable.

I fell in love with this dress but was super nervous because there weren’t any additional sizes available, so I had to hope that it fit, and it did! I am 5’5” and wore this with about 1.5-2” heels, and the length was perfect. I weigh about 170 lbs and carry it in my hips/thighs, so it was nice that the dress had some stretch and fit those areas. I will say that the neck seam and underarm seams are pretty thick and don’t have stretch, so if you’re super sensitive to that, I might not recommend this dress, as it was pretty snug there (when I took the dress off, there was a red mark where the neckline was). It’s super low-maintenance, in that I didn’t have to worry about the fabric wrinkling and didn’t have to wear a bra (I did wear some shapewear since it’s snug around the middle). Overall, I’m so happy with this dress and got a ton of compliments!

Beautiful black velvet lace dress. Wore 2 inch heels and length was too long but I expected it would be long, at my height I should always wear a petite in a long gown but this was a last minute replacement for me. Fabric allowed me to go without a bra which was good for the design of the dress. The lace around the arm holes was a little scratchy later in the evening but didn’t bother me. I ordered this replacement Friday morning and Rent The Runway had this dress at my door by 10:00am Saturday morning for a 2pm wedding. The representatives I worked with were awesome and got me out of a disastorus jam!

I couldn’t get the size 10 to compare. The size 12 I did have some room in it. Did have some stretch to it. Got several complaints on this dress. I had recently lost weight and was not sure of the sizing I would need. Being busty was worried about being tight but it was a perfect fit.

I'm usually always a 4 in dresses but glad RTR allows for a backup size and per the other user reviews, it was suggested to size down which I did and ended up wearing the size 2. The chest area is where it was looser on me but overall, it fit like a glove once sized down! It was a hot day but felt there was airflow, was happy with it :)

I felt amazing in this dress, and I got a lot of compliments. It fit great, shows off the curves, has a little give, and it’s easy to walk and sit in. I wore medium heels, nothing crazy, and it wasn’t too long. Most of the dress is lined, but the upper part is all openwork. If you can’t wear a strapless bra (I can’t), a regular black bra with transparent straps works great.

This dress reminded me of “classic old money” so it was perfect for my company’s formal murder mystery party. I got so many complements all night long! I was afraid it might be itchy with the lace overlay, but it was incredibly soft. I also forgot my strapless/sticky bra, so wore my normal nude bra and you couldn’t even see it. I’m 5’2 and wore 2in heels and it didn’t quite hit the floor. I could’ve worn flats and have it just brush the ground. I will always recommend RTR and this dress!

Dress was absolutely beautiful, the material was very soft and very comfortable. I received so many compliments, it was definitely a great choice.

Dress was a little shorter than the floor length I’d prefer, but it was comfortable to wear for a winter season gala.

Worn this to a winter ball at an embassy. I wore a nude regular bra. It wasn’t noticeable, especially in low light. I considered going without, but it was a noticeable difference in this dress. I wore flats and it was the perfect length for my height. If I could guarantee I would be this size for ever, I would consider buying it! Not scratchy at all. The stitching is a coppery color so I paired it with copper jewelry and a sparkly bracelet. I didn’t feel the need for a wrap to cover up or to keep warm. I received so many compliments.

I wore this to a work formal holiday party. It was intended as the back up but the fit was amazing and I got a ton of compliments. Need a strapless bra and no shape wear. Was great dress! Perfect fit in hips. I’m usually a 10/12 in pants but 14 was perfect for this.

This dress is amazing. The lace overlay is gorgeous and hides any body flaws. It has a little flare at the bottom that adds more dimension. I was getting compliments all night. Plus, it’s amazingly comfortable. Just perfect.

My measurements are bust 37”, waist 28.5, hips 38.5 and this fit like a glove. I would not have been able to wear it if it had been any smaller in any of those areas, but it didn’t feel too tight either. I’m only 5’2” and got the 4R. It touched the ground with no shoes on but didn’t drag. I wore 3.5” heeled cowboy boots with it and the length was perfect, but I would’ve been okay with another inch of length. Glad I didn’t get the 4P! The fabric does have a little give but it’s technically non-stretch. I was worried the allover lace would look too “mother of the bride” but I really liked this dress!

Fits true to size, double layered so it’s a very flattering shape, and was the perfect length on me (i’m 5’7)

The mermaid silhouette was very flattering. I’m usually a solid size 12, but the 12 was a bit tight around the hips, so I sized up to 14 and that fit comfortably without looking loose anywhere.

Ended up going with a different dress, but loved this option for a black tie optional wedding. Usually a 2/4, but currently 19 weeks pregnant and the 8R fit perfectly. Snug, but not too tight. Didn’t look pregnant from the front, but did from the side.

I got lots of complements on this dress which I wore to a formal wedding. It's was a great fit and since there is lace around the neck, I chose not to wear much jewelry. I wore simply sandals with some heel. The length was perfect for me.

It was really good. I did have to buy a padded bra to fill out top of a bit more. But length was perfect and not too tight in the stomach area or hips would be really beautiful on a more hourglass figure than mine.

This dress was perfect! It was everything I hoped for and more. The 4P fit like a glove-super comfortable yet so elegant. I wore it to a gala and lost count of how many compliments I received! The cut is unique and flattering; I only wish I had a better full-length photo to show it off. Would definitely rent again!

I ordered an 8 and a 10. While the 8 fit okay I felt the 10 did a better job not calling attention to my problem areas. It was comfortable and had good coverage so I could wear just about any dark colored bra and it would be hidden. I'm 5'5" and did have to wear a small heel to keep the dress off the ground, but a standard pump worked. The dress wasn't too heavy, but also wasn't so light that you would get too cold (it was January in the Northeast US and the night before a major snow storm and I was still fine). I definitely recommend this dress.

First time using RTR, so easy - dress was exactly as expected- felt beautiful in it and will definitely rent again!

Both size 0 and 2 fit but size 0 was just a bit tighter around my neck and arm areas so I opted for comfort. I’m short, was able to comfortably wear this around DC in 2 inch heels (2in for lightly touching the floor, 3 in for barely hovering the floor). Loved this for my formal work event, got lots of compliments! Also wore boots under to stay warm ;)

Its a classic fit with a simple elegance feel. No need for many accessories as the dress itself is a stunning piece alone

I am 5'-8" and wore 3" heels the 8 long was a perfect length. I am a 6/8 in dresses and the 8L fit well without looking tight or too lose. If I had the 6 it probably would've been snug. I got the dress and on the hanger I thought I'd hate it, but once I put it on it was very elegant and comfortable. Very happy with it.

I wore this to a wedding and got so many compliments. It hugs just right but allows you to eat without it being or looking uncomfortable.

Beautiful dress with great details. Even though it is velvet, you can wear 9 mths out of the year. I wore it for a black tie event in early May and it was perfect. The cut is super flattering although the cut-outs in the fabric can get a tad bit uncomfortable. Totally worth it though.

The dress is super comfortable, easy to move and sit down. I wore the 4R since it was a little longer. If you are tall and want to wear a higher shoe you might want to opt for the long. I wore to a formal ball and got many compliments. Rent this dress!
