The waistband is not very stretchy, but these are super comfy and velvety. LOVE!

I didn't wear these the first time I rented them in a S. But I really tried to! lol. I couldn't get them over my hips. There is zero stretch in the waist. There is a drawstring, but unless you're an actual toothpick, there's no need for the string. I ordered a size M the second time and got them up. Here's what you need to know if/when you get them on. They are NOT like basketball shorts. These are a bit restrictive and the worst part is the placket down the front (where faux buttons or zipper would go) - It's literally 5 layers of fabric down the front of your tummy. Not flattering. I love the look and feel of the fabric so much I'm going to try to wear it with a huge t-shirt w/o looking like a beach bum.

These velvet shiney "baggy" shorts are super adorable. wanted to wear with cowboy boots and a cute fitted or cropped top but not enough Material to be baggy around my booty. I don't have a HUGE booty but I do have one and even with a flat stomach -- the way the back end took up al the space just made some bomb shorts look wrong. I couldn't take them off fast enough so no pic -- sent them back with the tag on. These will be fabulous on the woman with a small waist and more reasonable gluteus.

These could arguably be the ugliest shorts I've ever seen. Like wearing your Aunt Matilda's extremely misguided couch slip cover. Just wrong.
