The original dress I ordered arrived damaged. I believe through UPS, negligence not the fault of Rent the Runway. I was sent a few other dresses to try, and although it did not go with my original cobalt hat, I thought this was a great choice for a Kentucky Derby Hat Luncheon. It did run slightly large.

I attended a formal event with an older crowd and needed a dress that was interesting, classy, and conservative. I am giving this dress 5 stars for a number of reasons: length was just above the knee (I'm 5'8"), fabric was thick enough to stay structured (did not wrinkle), and I just really loved how it looked on me. A couple things to keep in mind: the bust area is a little larger (relatively not much) than the midsection/skirt parts of the dress so if you are flat chested it may seem large. Conversely, if you're hourglass, this dress is perfect as it will highlight your waist. Something that was weird but did not matter to me: the 4 was smaller than the 2 in fit. I'm normally a 2 and so I tried on that size first and it fit perfectly. I tried the 4 just to see, and it was super tight. I still could have worn it, but it wouldn't have been as comfortable. Each dress has a slightly different marble pattern. I absolutely loved it and also thought it hilarious that I matched the marble columns in the historic house. Originally, I did not choose this dress because I thought the pattern would be too much. RTR ended up sending me this dress in addition to my order because one of my sizes was returned by another customer unfit to wear. An example of their superb customer service and ability to style on the fly!

Pros: The pattern is so cool and fresh. Got so many compliments on it. The top was slightly roomie, with flattering u-neck shape. You can wear a regular bra which is always a plus in my book. Awesome modern feel. Cons: There is absolutely no stretch to this dress. I am fuller on the bottom (through the thighs and the butt) and more petite on the top -- this dress was definitely snug on the bottom! It made it slightly more difficult to dance than I would have liked. But overall, killer modern dress perfect for a formal occasion!! Would recommend.

Overall, the dress looks absolutely amazing. I did have some issues with it though. The material is super thick - it feels almost like neoprene or something - and it doesn't have a lot of give. I will say I didn't have any sweating issues though, so it's not a ridiculously hot material. There's also no slit in the back of the skirt, so my stride was restricted and I couldn't wiggle the dress up far enough to go to the bathroom. Even in the larger size. My poor husband had to follow me to the restroom all night and partially unzip me so I could go pee. I definitely wouldn't recommend this dress for other girls with pronounced pear shapes... It looks great if you're just standing around and being admired, but I don't think it's a super practical dress for walking/sitting/dancing, etc.

Tight in all the right places, except bottom is very fitted hard to walk in, and had to unzip it to go to the bathroom. The size 6 was looser, but it didn't look as good, too large on top. This dress is great for a short event, maybe not an all day affair: )

I would have liked the next size up if I was going to be sitting down alot, thankfully it was a wedding reception that kept me us on the dancefloor!

This dress fit true to size it didn't feel tight anywhere so I don't think going up a size would help but it was impossible to pull up the bottom to use the restroom. There is no stretch at all and the hem is more fitted than the hips. Would have had to take the whole dress off each time and I needed help zipping it up in the first place with the small zipper.

It was tight, so if you plan on eating or drinking a lot could be uncomfortable.

Received this as one of several backups when my original rental was unavailable. They did not have my usual size but wanted to try it because I loved the cut and marble pattern. Was just a bit too snug to consider - it has a very slight stretch/give so I was able to get it on, I just wasn't able to sit too comfortably or take big steps. Fabric is a bit heavy but flattering. Overall a gorgeous and modern pick - I would definitely give it a go in the future in my usual size.

I wore this to a conference for work. It fit great but be ware. It's incredibly hard to pull up and down when going to the restroom. Like so tight that for a moment, I thought I was going to call for help :) other than that, it was super comfy, true to size (maybe a bit roomy in the bust) and held me in well.

I have an hour glass figure and wore spanx, so the dress fit great (smooth, no lumps) but the cut is very slim - not for someone with curves. The top is not meant for a larger bust and the lower hem was so narrow that I could barely get out of cars/walk up stairs. Very cute dress, but perhaps best for a standing-only cocktail party. Don't expect to dance or move much in it! (note, I was slimmer then - est 155 lbs, size 6, 5'9")

I wanted to wear this dress to a wedding so badly. I picked it up at the store in NYC- the dress was gorgeous and fit perfectly and snugly from the knees to the chest. I suppose I have a short torso though (or atleast one shorter than a 6 ft-something woman, because from the chest area to the shoulder area, there was a good 3 inches of fabric that popped off of my shoulders, making me look like a turtle. It made the dress unwearable! and I would have needed major alterations to make the dress look good. I was bummed that I couldn't wear it....to all the tall / long-torso'd women out there---this dress is killer!

I have an hourglass figure and this did not fit at all, unfortunately. Too big on top (ordered size 4 and I'm a 32D) and tight on bottom. Bottom would have been ok tight but there's no slit up the side so it's impossible to walk.

It was so uncomfortable. No give, no way to sit down if I wore it to dinner. Beautiful dress and fit perfectly standing up but walking and sitting we're not an option.

As described in the other reviews, this dress is just too tight to wear for any length of time that includes a trip to the bathroom (skirt is too tight to pull up, but a hassle to take off the whole dress). I didn't find it uncomfortable otherwise - were I just going to a dinner I might have stuck it out. :) I also think it's better for someone taller - it hit just below my knee which threw off the proportions.

It is very versatile and comfortable.

Fabric has a thicker feel, which is great for concealing the tummy or smoothing hips. However, if you want to do more than stand during your event this might not be the dress for you. Size up from your normal dress size, but keep in mind this dress it very fitted due to the fabric and seams. I wound up not wearing the dress that fit because it was damaged, but it may have been an uncomfortable fit for my event nonetheless.
