I wore this for Thanksgiving dinner and felt super elegant and classy, and was getting compliments all night. I ended up purchasing because I love it so much!

The sleeves are tight at the cuff which was why I sized up. This was a comment by other reviewers. Otherwise not much difference between the small and medium.

I am 5'7", 160lbs, and carry my weight mostly in my mid-section. This dress seemed to create a nice waist-line, but the medium (a size I still often wear) wouldn't even zip. Very glad I had the Large too! My event was an outdoor farm-to-table dinner that I was emceeing, and it felt very warm and comfortable. I got a zillion compliments. If you're on the fence: go up a size! The back has ties that can draw the bodice in as tightly as you like, so it won't look frumpy if you size up.

I wore this for my son’s wedding. I got so many compliments. It fit well, and was perfect for a fall evening wedding.

Dress is very chic! I was initially skeptical at the high neckline and worried it looked stuffy, but after dressing it up with heels and earrings, it looked elegant. There is no stretch in the waist. I ordered the 4 and the 6, but ultimately wore the 4 because I felt the 6 looked to bulky in the chest. I received many compliments!

Loved this for a winter wedding. Just about fit so may be tight if you have a bit more around the middle.

Beautiful material and color for Christmas photos. Adding a belt helped to give it more shape, it ran big around the waist/torso but otherwise fit true to size. Material was lighter than expected and I was cold in 50 degree weather, but could be paired with tights and a coat to stay warm.

I wore this dress to a work holiday party. It’s a deep green velvet that looks black in low light and it’s very warm so may be better for outdoor winter events. You’d need a stick on bra for support as the back is open, but don’t need spanx since the skirt is looser. Very comfortable and classy.

Pros: this dress is classy, warm, and fun to wear. It’s a lovely color and fabric and I was comfortable in it all day. It fit right in at the wedding I was attending and I felt great in it. Worn with heels, it was even a perfect length for my fellow petites! Cons: The waist was *almost* too tight on this, and I had to pin the zipper in place to keep it from falling down (there’s no hook). The ties are a little tricky to negotiate, but it looked really cute when all was said and done.

This dress feels like a million bucks. The zipper wouldn’t zip the last inch or so but luckily the bottom bow covered it and you couldn’t see. I wish I would have had more places to wear it before I sent it back but I’m keeping it in my holiday short list. I wore it with some strappy gold sandals.

Although this wasn't my usual style (more conservative than I usually am) it was a good dress for a holiday dinner with family. My husband liked it. The fit was TTS and the back was stunning. Garnered compliments. Great quality - a thick velvet.

I did not want to send this dress back; it fit perfectly, hit mid-calf, a gorgeous deep green, heavy velvet dress. This dress was made for a MN (work) holiday party! I ordered a L and XL and wore the L. The arm cuffs (near the elbow) were slightly tighter than I would prefer so if you have larger arms, I suggest sizing up. I will say, for bigger busted ladies that require a standard bra, this dress is not for you. If you are comfortable going bra-less or wearing a sticky style bra, you’re good to go.

Such a fun, festive dress! I needed something last minute for a black tie gala, and this dress was the perfect answer. I was worried it would be a bit too holiday-esque for an event in October but the green is so dark that it almost looks black. The velvet is definitely warm, so I would not recommend for spring/summer. I’m typically a size 14 in dresses and pants, and in the XL, the only place it was a tiny bit tight was the very top of the zipper, but it was quite comfortable overall. I’m 5’8” and I wore 1.5” heels and it landed right at the middle of my calves. The open back is stunning and a very tasteful way to show more skin. Cannot recommend this dress enough!

Great dress for a wedding in Scotland. The dress was warm, traveled perfectly (no wrinkles), and was comfy and easy to wear all day/evening.

I had order two of these the large and XL. The xl ended up fitting better and less tight. Loved it!! And the color too. I am 5’7 and I’m a bit bigger at the bottom than the top. Loved it.

This dress was so perfect! I loved the length and the higher neckline. The puffy sleeves and the velvet texture gave it such a unique look! Only complaint was that the cuffs on the sleeves were a little bit tight.

Absolutely loved this dress! I am 5’5” and about 128 lbs. I usually wear a small. Fit TTS. Was slightly snug around the rib cage where the zipper ended. I was comfortable all night and got so many compliments about the dress. If you’ve got a holiday party or winter wedding this is a great dress!

WOW, I did not expect to love this dress as much as I did. I ordered it as a just in case option but assumed my husband would not have liked it compared to other options as he has a fantastic eye for dressing to fit your body type. Well, this dress shocked us both & ended up being the winner I chose to wear for the event and I have never in my life received more compliments on an outfit in my entire life. I felt confident and beautiful all night. The heavier evergreen velvet material was perfect for a northeast fall outdoor wedding and extremely forgiving as it camouflages any body flaws instead of accentuating them as other material options would. It was basically wrinkle resistant (which is a pet peeve of mine at formal events because I hate wrinkles and feeling sloppy looking). The dress has a beautiful open back design with 2 toe Closure which stayed closed being knotted all night long and the zipper stopped at the perfect spot on your lower back as I was still able to wear compression thong underneath undergarment to feel secure. Overall, I would highly recommend this option if you want a low-maintenance dress for a formal event that still looks absolutely stunning!

This dress was very warm and comfortable for a chilly evening. The color is almost black so with the conservative cut/length I did feel like I could have worn it to a funeral as easily as for a date. Fit TTS - needed help to tie the back.

Nice dress, very conservative/traditional in the front. Open back creates a bit of chill which partly defeats the purpose of wearing velvet in the winter. Big surprise for me was the color, I expected it to be more green but in most light it looks black. It was true to size or on the small side so if in doubt size up

The color and texture of this dress are really pretty, and the open back really elevates it. Very elegant, mature look and I got so many compliments on it. My regular size (L) was a smidge too tight and the zipper didn’t close all the way to the top (I couldn’t get the like top half inch shut) but the bow covered the zipper and it was fine.

I would have loved this dress if the color were more emerald. It appears almost black in real life. The back was very cute and it fit great!

The front of this dress is a little plain but the back is a wow. Color a little darker than I expected but still beautiful. Nice Xmas season pick!

I wore this to a Fall wedding and it was perfect for the weather! I loved the fabric - it was super soft but also heavy/warm, I never got cold! The color is gorgeous in the sunlight but it does read as black in low light. It was too tight around my waist, so if you’re worried about fit there, I’d recommend sizing up. But otherwise, I got a ton of compliments and would definitely rent this dress again!

It's tight at the arm band which comes to around the elbow and was not flattering to my upper arm /elbow excess fat. The length is good and the material is very pretty for a well lit party but in dim light it just looks black. The back is pretty with it being open but the ties are odd and don't lie flat. The front with the high neck is so matronly. I wore it with black tall boots.

Very soft, comfortable, but a big tight at the zipper for me. Fun back to offset the plain front.

This dress has nice material, is made well, but is a bit tight where the zipper finished. The ties in the back are too short for a bow, so you almost have to double knot them. Out of this month's selection, it was not my favorite dress. I would not rent again, but might fit other body types better.
