The dress fits basically true to size, just slightly on the smaller side so since I am normally between a 6 and an 8, I got the size 8 (or 44 in Italian sizing). It has plenty of room in the bust and stomach area but it does get tighter around the hips and butt. So if you have thicker thighs, or a a lot of junk in the trunk, I would definitely go up two sizes or opt for a different dress. I do have a rather curvy behind, and the dress still fit great, but was snug in that area, just as a heads up. Overall great dress though!

Others have said to get a size up, they are wrong, just measure your hips(around the widest part of your butt) and thats the size you should choose and everything will work out great. Great fit. If you do have a little tummy then it will show, and may be a little accentuated since the fit is tight around the lower abs and loose above that. This is a hot, yet classy dress. It looks great in the back, it accentuates the butt in the best way, with a little bow above it! And no you don't have to be tall to wear it(others said below) I am 5'4 and wore 2 inch heals(with black bows on them :)) and got at least 15 complements on the dress!

A friend of mine rented this dress for her rehearsal dinner. It was the perfect touch to a special night and she definitely had heads turning :) Very unique dress

As far as the fit, I got a size 8 in this dress because I am bustier. But the 8 was a little big, and I really wish it was shorter. None the less if you pair this with some lace black gloves, red lipstick, and a black top hat with a lace veil your sure to turn heads ;)

I rented this dress bc I thought it was perfect for the wedding I was going to, and I had to wear black since I was apart of the wedding. The Dress is super cute, but the white wasn't white it was pretty dingy. I know the dress is from a few seasons ago, but the shoes I planned to wear were black and white (they looked like tuxedo shoes this is the main reason I decided to rent the dress bc it was perfect for my shoes) But the color of the dress didn't match the white of my shoes. I would just recommend thinking about how things are worn, and when they are not yours people don't always treat it the way you would treat your own clothes.

The dress fit true to size and was snug and slimming through the hips with a subtle sexy drape at the bust line. The fabric falls really smoothly and was easy to move in.

Be sure to go up a size if you have hips, Extremely narrow in that area! Happy I ordered a back up size.

It was a great black dress for the occasion, and the back was definitely the best part. I received numerous complements. It does hang a bit like a shift dress...not sure if that is the way it should fit, and the bow on the bottom was a bit floppy. Fortunately, I think I was the only one who was bothered by that little detail. It is plain enough to wear some killer heels with it, and it won't distract from the dress.

This dress was great! Very elegant from the front and a little surprise from the back. This dress does run small through the hips and thighs.

VERY chic dress. I wore this to a cocktail event and got many compliments. I rented in a size 40 and was a little snug on the hips, but looked great. One thing - you HAVE to be tall to wear this. Or wear with sky high heels. I am 5'8" and had to put on my highest heels to rock this look. Overall though very happy with this choice.

I really loved this dress, however it does run small as the size & fit guide says. I typically wear a 0 or 2, so I rented in a 38 with a 40 as backup...I couldn't even begin to get the 38 past my hips when trying to put the dress on over my head. The 40 fit great, but hit me at almost mid-calf. Rented for an indoor wedding in mid-September. All in all, dress was great but beware of sizing and length!

Not for the curvy girl. I found there was plenty of room in the bust, but the waist could have easily been taken in 2 inches and the fullest part of the hips only fit thanks to very tight spanx. Others mentioned that the hips were tight and to possibly order up a size, but no note of the waist being so loose. This is something that's hidden in every photo of this dress on this website. Either person wearing the dress is turned looking over their shoulder, or they have their hands placed to hide the floppy waist or to pull it taunt (or the photo's so dark the blacks all blend together). Even the model is hiding the loose waist with her arms/ defining it with hand placement. It's fine that it fits that way, I was able to eat dinner without worrying about looking bloated, and of course this cut will fit many women with a less defined waist perfectly- I just wish I'd known before hand because I would have chosen a different dress. Disappointing. If I'd tried this dress on in store I'd have said "Too bad." and put it back on the rack, but since it was rented and changing last minute is dodgy I stuck with it.

i rented this dress for NYE at sleep no more but i was hoping for a little bit more wow. the cut is great but the other reviewers were right; the back of the dress isn't stark white. it's more of a beige color. it was slightly tight around my thighs but i have muscular thighs (i.e., nothing a little spanx couldn't help). however, i'm returning both dresses because like i said, i wanted something more for NYE.

Unfortunately, I could not wear this amazing dress. I normally wear a size 6, but had read that it runs small. I ordered the size up- still couldn't fit the dress comfortably over my hips. Next time I will go two sizes up if I rent this one again. Get the back up size bigger! Great dress!

I got this dress in my normal size and the backup size was retired. Luckily, I had another opition because I would have needed the next size up. If you are model size it might fit perfectly but if you have boobs and a butt you should get the next size up! Great dress though.

Such a pretty dress, but runs SO narrow in the hips! Be forewarned, get a size up!

I ordered both the 38 and the 40 - both didn't fit so well - the 38 was too small and the 40 was too big - i ended up not wearing this dress. It looks gorgeous on the model - i was also not too happy with the quality of the material - it was just a tough one to work.

The dress was true to size. The front of the dress is nice and simple but the back, it was fabulous, sexy, elegant all rolled into one. I really loved the way the bow hit at the top of my butt. This is a wonderful dress.

This is my fourth time renting the runway, and all other rentals were fabulous…i guess the streak is over! Thought that this dress would look effortlessly chic for a country club wedding, but to my dismay it just looked awful. I couldn't decide whether to mark that the dress runs small or large, because it was small in some areas and large in others….overall just a very unflattering fit. Also, one of the sizes arrived missing one of the tuxedo buttons on the back. Thankful that I had a backup on hand, and must say that for my first time returning the dress for fit, customer service was very accommodating with giving me my full rental credit.
