I sized up in this dress (am between a 10 and a 12). I chose the 12 and it was perfect. Wore it with low heels...could have gone higher as the back is longer. The back of the dress is gold lace and therefore a regular bra wouldn't work. I went without and had no issues. I loved, loved, loved this dress and received a lot of compliments. Not to tight to dance in!

This dress was such a treat to wear! I received a lot of compliments on the color and fit, and it was just so beautiful and feminine. It had just the right touch of glam, but didn't upstage the bride or the bridal party.

The dress fits just right, and is pretty comfortable. It's on the longer side though especially with the slight tail, I needed 2 inch heels to keep it just off the ground. Other than that, it's comfortable enough to dance around in too. The gold filigree like detail, especially on the back is gorgeous. I got a lot of compliments from people.

Really beautiful dress. I wore it to a black-tie ball and it really stood out. The lace back is unbelievable and I loved that there's a little slit in the leg (tasteful yet you get to show off those legs). It runs true to size and is quite long, I was able to wear heels even though I'm 6'1". I've seen some women say they didn't need a bra, and a bra isn't strictly necessary, but I used an adhesive one because otherwise I felt too flat. RTR had fantastic customer service with this as well. Highly recommend!

Fits true to size. A little hard to zipper up. I loved that I didn't need to wear a bra which is a rare treat for me. The color is very pretty (the gold highlights are elegant not tacky) and the dress is sexy without showing too much off. It was perfect. It is long. I had to wear 4 inch heels.

A beautiful dress for a formal occasion. The color, which is bluer than in the picture, is quite flattering. I originally hoped to wear an 8L or 10L but only 10R was available. It was the perfect length, even with 3 inch heels and the dress fit well. It's possible I could have done better with an 8, but not much better!. I received many compliments, even from strangers. I have rented 5 or 6 times from RTR and this was among my favorites.

The dress fit was perfect except it was a bit long in the front. I am 5'3" and had 3" heels and I had to hold up the front when walking. However, for photos, the hem laid perfectly on the floor. I received many compliments, especially on the gold lace at the top. The dress was comfortable for sitting and dancing. It was warm, in spite of cold, damp weather. It was different from any dress that anyone wore. It was the perfect dress for me because the fabrics and design were so elegant and I did not feel as though I was competing with the wedding party. I was unique in my own way.

It was very flattering but in an elegant way. I'm typically between a size 2 and 4 because of my busy, but this fit just fine. I ordered 2 & 4 just incase but I fit better in the 2R. I am 5'6" and I wore 4" heals, do not order the long size because you will drag that dress all day. The regular length was perfect, it fell right on the floor at the back of the train. Be mindful when selecting your size.

SO I originally rented another dress for this wedding many months ahead. Received a call the day before I was suppose to receive it to be told it could not be sent to me. It was very heartbreaking since I was so attached the original dress, waiting many months for it. RTR sent me several options to choose from, some came in Friday and 2 came in Saturday (Day of the wedding)... I wasn't crazy for any of the dresses that came in Friday but when I received this dress Saturday, I knew it was the one. It hugged my body in the right places and was flowy right over the stomach plus I didn't need to wear a bra! The Gold Flowers under the sheer blue added just enough sparkle, didn't need to use much jewelry! I received so many compliments all night!

I typically wear between a size 2 and 4 so ordered both. The size 2 fit perfectly on my 5'5" 119# frame. Bust 32DD, no bra required due to inner lining support of gown (this is rare); waist 25, hips 36. The gown has a cathedral train so keep in mind if dancing at your event. The color and detailing of this gown is impeccable. Absolutely LOVED this gown!!

I wanted something special that was not too over the top, this dress was perfect, I had several compliments. The only negatives were that even in a size 0 the dress was loose around the waist and butt, and that the mesh irritated my skin slightly on top. Despite this I would still recommend it. The dress was very comfortable and fun to dance in.

I wore this dress because I was asked to officiate my brother-in-law's wedding, and I knew I'd be in the center of the action, but didn't want to upstage the bride. This dress was elegant, but in an understated way, and several people came up to me afterward raving about how perfect it was for the occasion. My only complaint would be that the dress was a little bit long. I am 5'3" and wore 3 inch heels, but still had to lift up the front everywhere I walked or I would step on it. It's a dress made for looking elegant, but not necessarily a lot of movement!

I got tons of compliments on the dress! What you can't really see from the picture is that he dress is sparkly gold lace with a layer of navy chiffon over it.. It looks great with gold shoes and bag. You don't need much jewelry with the dress and that is a plus! One thing I did notice from pictures is that if you r arms are not super toned than you may not like how they look in this dress. There is something about the way the dress is cut that made my arms look fat!

The long still came up a little above my feet but it wasn't noticeable. Could not have been happier with this dress!

Pictures don't do this dress justice. It's absolutely gorgeous on and in person. The gold accents are perfect compliments. They add elegance without being too overstated. The fabric is light and comfortable. You can't see how the gown moves in a picture, but it's very pretty.

The dress runs pretty long, as I am tall and wore 1.5" shoes.

LOVED, LOVEEEDD this dress. I was a little skeptical about RTR before I ordered for my event, but now I'm definitely going to be using it again the future. The dress fit like a glove. I wore 1 inch heals and the dress was the perfect length. No bra is needed. I received so many compliments too. I agree with all the other reviews commenting about the zipper. My husband had to help me zip it up and down each time. Otherwise, highly recommend!

I wore this for a blacktie wedding. Fit perfectly and I felt like a princess. I would wear this dress over and over if I could!! Tons of compliments. The dress had great built in support so a bra was not needed.

I wore this dress to a black-tie gala at the Art Museum. Got many compliments and was told my dress was nominated for the most amazing dress of the night! Very nice fabric and colors are much more vivid in person, pics don't do it justice.

I normally wear an 8 or 10 so I rented the 8R and 10R. Oddly enough, the 10 was tighter in the hips but too long so I wore the 8R. It was a bit snug and there is no give in the fabric. The dresses arrived quite wrinkled so I spent about 45 minutes pressing it gradually increasing the iron temp so I didn't scorch the chiffon. The ruffle down the front moved beautifully when I walked and the rushing at the midriff was very flattering. I wore a nubra that worked fine - it's far too low in the back to wear anything else. I could have gone without if I had really wanted to. Ladies with a more amble bosom would be comfortable. You'll need help with the side zipper. Perfect Mother of the Bride dress!!

Beautiful and elegant gown, received many compliments! Fits well, though I have a broad shoulder so the upper body is a tad snug. The length in the size guide is a bit misleading; 5'7" is the upper bound for Regular so I also got the Long one, but Regular is already grazing the floor and I'm 5'7" with 5 inch heels.

Fit was a little tight up top but grateful it was designed so I didn't have to wear a bra. Rest of dress fit well enough to gave me a waist and butt yet was very comfortable. I'm short so the length was about 3 inches too long. Using hem tape a little tricky since dress has 3 layers and top layer is sheer. Hemmed all three layers together in front only and left back alone to become a little train. The sheer layer had a couple small holes as well as a rip that was mended. Disappointing but it made me careful not to bump into things and remove jewelry when putting dress on or off. But it was well worth it. Jaws dropped, eyes popped and my daughter said it was amazing.

I rented this gown for a required recital performance for my university opera program - I loved it! It was comfortable and fit in all the right places!

I rented this dress for one of the formal nights on a cruise to Alaska. I normally wear a 6 and the 8 was perfect. This dress is gorgeous and exceptionally comfortable. It had a lovely flowy quality to it, was sexy with the sheer front and back, but the sheer panels also provided coverage so I never felt too exposed. I did not need to wear a bra - the dress hugged in all the right places. The only negative was a stain on the navy front panel. It was only noticeable to me, but I was disappointed that it was not removed prior to receiving the dress.

Quite beautiful and comfortable fit, but waaaaaay too matronly looking for my taste. Also, you can't wear a regular strapless bra with it so you're seeing the gals there au natural. They probably make a bra that would work, but it's not in my lingerie drawer right now. No Spanx in photo either, but dress hides stuff pretty well with the layers and the ruffles. Also it made my top half look quite large, and though at the time of this photo I am 40, 34, 41, it made me look even bigger than just any other dress I tried on did.

Very well made & lays very nicely - a little long and there is a bit of a train - something to keep in mind - I wore 3" platforms and it was just right (5'5"). Truly beautiful & unique dress - I wore a nubra with it because of the open back - not too much support otherwise.

The original dresses I ordered were returned in bad condition, so I was notified and told to pick another, and I'm so glad I did. The stylist recommended a size 2 or 4 based on my measurements (I'm thin with small curves, not hourglassy per se, but not straight and narrow or athletic either) and the size 4R fit perfectly; the 2 was just a little hard to zip up. I didn't need any sort of bra or slip, which was really nice, and the cut was very flattering and elegant without being too old-looking. The color was beautiful, and the rose detailing was a very soft pretty gold color. The skirt has a small slit up the left side, but it doesn't show unless you're sitting. The neckline can be a little itchy, but for the most part it was quite comfortable. This dress was very long though, be prepared to be tall or wear very high heels, lest you get people stepping on it occasionally.

Rented this for a black tie graduation event - I spent a lot of time looking for something that was fairly conservative, without being frumpy or boring. This dress was completely perfect. The lace neckline is beautiful, with a slight sparkle and there is a similar lace underlay to the whole skirt of the dress that is hard to appreciate in the picture. I got tons of compliments and felt amazing. I wore my hair up to show off the gorgeous lace back. I am 5'5'' and 125 lbs and the size 2 was perfect. This is a low back dress so you can't wear a regular strapless bra. I ended up going with silicone adhesive cups which worked perfectly as there is a little bit of support built into the dress. Rent the Runway picked earrings out for me that were absolutely perfect. No need for a necklace with the lace top. Wore with 3.5" heels and the back of the dress dragged just a bit so I got stepped on a few times, but was not a big problem. Love love love this and am looking for a reason to rent something else from Rent the Runway. Great experience!

I lost count of the compliments I received wearing this dress. I loved everything about it. The color is flattering, the fit was perfect as was the length. If you want to wearing something just a little bit outside the lines - this is the dress for you.

I ended up wearing the black and gold Marchessa Notte dress instead of this one, but I found this one very pretty. It's just a bit more understated (in an elegant matronly way) than the other - but it was also more comfortable! The draping is very pretty and since most of the lace is covered w/ chiffon it's quite easy to wear, with plenty of movement in the legs. I opted for the other dress because it's flashier and came in Long length, which proved to be important. I am 5'8" and this dress was slightly above floor length while barefoot, so it would have looked weird with heels.

The dress felt small in the bust area. II wear a 34F bra and I felt a bit snug in the chest. The illusion lace is gorgeous, but was a bit scratchy since it fit closely to my skin. In a larger size, it might have felt better. I got several compliments and several looks from women eyeing me from afar. The dress runs quite long. I don't wear high heels, but even in 4 inch heels it would have dragged a bit.

This dress seemed to run a little narrow but not much. It wasn't very flattering on my figure. I loved the front. I didn't wear this dress.

I really wanted to wear this dress for a black tie summer wedding, however the fit was off for my figure. I have a bum, but my hips are narrow and I did not fill out the dress in a sz 4 (I'm between a 4 and 6 these days). The fabric is a little stiff due to the lace underlay and the extra fabric ended up adding inches instead of draping and skimming over my curves. Would definitely recommend getting your normal size and one size down.

It looks gorgeous and fabulous on some of the other ladies, so I decided to give it a try. Sadly, I didn't experience the same results. The gold and navy just didn't look great against my skin. The draping puffed out in all of the wrong places. I felt double my age in it.
