The Formal Chic gown by Malene Birger embodies an elegant aesthetic with its subtle deep V-neck detail, adding a touch of allure to the otherwise somewhat boxy sheath gown. Constructed with thick material and shoulder pads for added structure, this gown exudes sophistication and style. However, as someone who ordered a size 0 petite, I found the fit to be a bit wider than expected. While the shoulder pads provided some definition, the gown's overall silhouette felt a touch too boxy, especially for petite frames. Nevertheless, this was mitigated when wrapping my arms or wearing a jacket over it, enhancing its appearance.

Satin-y fabric leans formal but comfortable shape that can be dressed up or down. Wore to work with heels and casually out on weekend with denim jacket and flats. Surprised it was a pullover dress, couldn’t find zipper if there was one but was able to pull on and off so didn’t look too hard.

It is low cut and you will need to find the perfect type of bra to work with it. It is a loose dress which adds to its appeal. The pockets are a wonderful addition.

Nicely made - felt fancy - but really low cut which seemed okay for a formal affair but could be awkward in some settings.

This piece says 'Hey I'm really wealthy' and I have great style. I didn't end up wearing mine because it was weirdly itchy but this seems like a me problem. I'd still recommend giving it a try. It's seriously so gorgeous in person. Note there are shoulder pads sewn in for that boxy, muscle tank look, but they aren't crazy tall or prominent. This dress also has pockets. Lastly, it is a true column dress (wide cut) but if you have eyes, this should not be a surprise. It does not run large -- this is simply the style of dress.

Beautiful dress. Long I'm 5'5 and dress was just above ankles. Very large. Would have loved to worn but no small options when I needed it.

This dress did not have the shape I expected it to based on the model photos. I did anticipate some boxiness, but perhaps light tapering around the waist. There is none! It's a straight shot down from the shoulders and the shoulder pads are quite large. The width of the shoulders with the boxy drape made me look like I was in some clergy, or perhaps a cult. It was laughable. Perhaps a more petite figure a smaller size would work, but this oversized look was not okay for me.
