The fit is pretty true to size except I am small busted so I felt the top was a little bit big. I could have worn the 40R but it felt to snug. The 42R was great just a little baggy on top so I had to be very careful when I was bending over not to let the straps fall forward other wise the party may have seen a lot of me ; ). One other small problem was the lining of the dress kept getting caught on my heel while dancing. Overall this dress feels great I would order it again in a second!

This dress for like a glove and was perfect for a formal-ish wedding in May. I got so many compliments! I loved the unique print and the fit was so flattering! Def worth the price!

Fantastic and unusual showstopper. Wear with high heels as the dress is extremely long - as it was I wore 3.5" heels and the dress was nearly to the floor. Material is heavy and luxurious without weighing you down. Given there is no strap across the back, leaning over/forward or aggressive dancing might cause a "wardrobe malfunction" on top - so take care! Also note that while the zipper is heavyweight, there is no top clasp so it can come down a bit. In any case, this dress will get you unbelievable amounts of attention - make sure to wear loud shoes (yellow if possible!)

This is a new favorite RTR! I rented this dress for a friend's wedding, originally planning to wear the 44R, but that was unable to be shipped. Luckily the 42R worked even better! The dress highlights the waistline, which worked well for my body type. What I loved most about this dress is that it is unique and surprising. From the front, it just looks like a normal, unique, beautiful dress, but from the back it is stunning! I loved the wide open back. I was a bit worried about the high slit, per others' reviews, but didn't find it to be a problem, except when I was sitting down. If you rent this, get ready for compliments all night long!

I rented this for a wedding and received so many compliments. It fit great and was very comfortable. I have narrow shoulders so at times the straps fell off when I was dancing. But otherwise it was perfect.

I was worried this dress would be too short, since most of the reviewers before me were inches shorter than I am. Even with the 3" heels I wore this dress looked incredible. The length was perfect for the Newport Polo charity gala at the Rosecliff Mansion in Newport. I never had to worry about the bottom dragging on the ground outside or about anyone stepping on it. The straps were a little loose, but not enough where I had to worry about them falling off. The slit does go up very high, so if you don't want to show some leg or if it's exceptionally windy this might not be the dress for you. Overall I loved wearing this dress and got so many compliments throughout the night!!! Would definitely rent again for another formal event

I love the print and how gorgeous and photogenic this dress is! This is one to wear if you definitely want to stand out! I received so many compliments on this. The only thing is the straps are a little bit loose and can easily fall off the shoulders since the dress is backless. If you have fashion tape to hold it together I would recommend using that to keep it in place!

Definitely needed the fashion tape and extras during the event for reapplying. The length was just right with 3 inch heels (I am 5 foot 5 inches). The slit creeps up a little when you sit but nothing that can't be managed. Overall as long as you plan it right the dress is fantastic.

After another dress didn't fit, I was sent this dress! It was beautiful but there is no elastic in the waist so it was tight. I had to eat very clean for two days to fit in it! Also, make sure you buy fashion tape to wear it. The top is not very well designed and needs to be taped onto your back. Other than that, I received many compliments!

I LOVED this dress! It make such an impact at a formal event amongst all the other dark dresses. It fit perfectly around the waist and was probably an inch short of the ideal length for me as I was wearing 3 inch heels - but it wasn't too noticeable. The back, the colour, and the print are amazing in person! I received compliments all night and felt awesome in it. Definitely a must rent!

This was my first RTR gown, and my bf now compares every dress to this one. None have met the mark yet! I wore the 40R with a 3" heel and would have loved for the dress to be an inch or two longer. Personally, I prefer my garments to just skim the gown. Also, I am a 32D and had to be cautious of the straps falling forward. This was never truly a 'problem' though. For your backup size, I would recommend going a size UP. I have a 25.5" waist, and the zipper sneaked down a few times. I also have a bust and booty, so the dress didn't quite 'drape' like it does on the model. Overall, I loved this piece. It was something different from everyone else and was super easy to dance in. I would absolutely rent it again!

This dress was such a standout! Super unique and surprisingly slimming given the busy pattern. The slit is much higher than it appears in the photo but it's totally worth it if you want to make a statement!

Best first RTR experience I could have hoped for! Beautiful dress that people asked about the entire night. I didn't have any issues with the straps at all, though I guess if you're planning on bending/hunching over a lot you might want to use fashion tape to help secure as others mentioned on their reviews. Note the waist is not elastic so plan your sizes accordingly so that it won't be too snug. I highly recommend this dress, its absolutely amazing!

Great dress for any formal affair or wedding! If you have a small bust, like me, you'll have to pin the straps to ensure it can't fall off while you dance. Enjoy this fun, flirty, fabulous dress!

This dress was AWESOME! It was perfect for a summer formal event and definitely got a lot of attention! I got tons of compliments on the front and the back of the dress. Super unique, so if you rent, be ready to ROCK IT. I wore with black glittery heels (perfect) and black & gold accessories. Don't overdo the accessories or shoes here... the dress is all people will notice anyway! The straps are really loose on the shoulders and back, so I had to use fashion tape to avoid a problem while dancing!

This was my first Rent the Runway experience, and I am beyond happy I did it! I ordered the 42R and 40R, and decided on the 40R so that it was a little shorter and the straps were more secure. You will 100% need fashion tape for the straps either way, but once you’ve got it on you should be good for the night. After reading some of the reviews, I made sure to get pretty high heels (4.25”) – they caught on the inside back of the dress a few times, but otherwise it was fine. I also rented the Slate & Willow ‘Ivory Wild’ earrings – they paired perfectly! Fun tip: Towards the end of the night (cue flip flops and dirty dance floor) I flipped the skirt up and tied the ends in a knot around my waist = instant cocktail dress! A few people actually asked me if I changed dresses – it was an awesome way to dance more easily AND have a new look! Overall, this dress made my night. I felt elegant, sexy, and edgy all at once. The only funny thing was that another girl had the same dress (hey, E!), but we both styled ours differently so we didn’t look exactly the same. It was a bummer at first, but we chatted and decided that we could only blame our mutual love for this dress!

The slit it really high, it didn't both me, but I know when you sit down you have to be careful! The back was beautiful but the straps could have fallen down because the back is low cut... so tape isn't a bad idea just to make yourself feel better! The length was fine, I am tall, but it looked good with 4' heels. I am very very curvy so dresses are usually a struggle being too big in the midsection but I could have sized down another size and still been good.

I am always split between size 2 and 4 when it comes to dresses, as my bust is smaller than my hip. I ordered both the 40R and 42R, and ultimately wore the 42R because the smaller size was just a tad too snug around my hips. The straps were very loose and slipped quite a bit, but fashion tape held them in place perfectly all night. The fabric had just the right amount of weight, but was still breathable and airy. I had no issues with the zipper sliding down as others have mentioned - it could be an issue if the dress has a tighter fit. The lining would occasionally catch on my heel - something less embellished might prevent that problem. I loved how unique the pattern was and the open back was stunning. Pure magic! You won't regret this choice!

Fit was pretty true to size. It was a bit tight over my rib cage, but if I had gone up a size it would have been too large. I'm 5'1 and the dress was still puddling a little on the floor even though I was wearing 5 inch heels. Probably best for someone 5'3 and up. It truly is an amazing dress! I had so many compliments!

This dress was perfect for a summer black tie wedding. The zipper closure around the waist makes it very fitted and flattering. Definitely needs fashion tape on your shoulders to keep the straps from slipping. I'm 5'7 and the dress would've been the ideal length with two or three more inches of fabric, as it hit the floor perfectly without heels.

Waist and length are very true to size. I typically wear a 4 in dresses and 27 in jeans. I am small up to top and felt like the straps were a little loose - can't wear a bra so not great if you are doing a ton of swing dancing at a wedding but is a great dress for posing at a formal affair. Felt beautiful!

This dress was a absolutely amazing! I got compliments all night on it. Because I have wide hips, the dress couldn't be pulled down to make the straps snug on my back, so I needed to have a friend help me fashion tape the straps. As others mentioned, while dancing, my heel got stuck in the lining once or twice. Aside from that I absolutely loved this and wanted to take pictures all night! Paired it with silver shoes and LuLu Frost Radiant earrings. Perfect moment!

I was almost embarrassed by the number of compliments I received (from strangers!) about this dress. It obviously makes a huge impression on onlookers! I'm a consistent size 2 on top and size 2/4 on bottom, and the size 42R fit my bum/hips perfectly, but was pretty baggy in the bust area. The size 40 was unavailable for my event but I suspect it would have been too tight on my hips regardless. I used fashion tape to keep the straps in place but as you can somewhat see in the photo they were still gaping a bit. I think if I was more busty (I'm a 34A) this would have been less of an issue. I went with the 42R and even the Regular length is still pretty long - I am 5'5" and with 4" heels the dress skimmed the floor so if you're on the shorter side, bring your tall shoes!

I bought very high heels for this dress thinking that it would be long (I'm 5'3''), but I actually had to wear short heels since it ran way shorter than I anticipated. Otherwise, the dress could not have fit any better. It was so flattering and I received endless compliments all night. I rented it for a black tie summer wedding and I really stood out among the other dresses. You DEFINITELY need body tape to keep the sleeves up and the chest covered, but with tape it was perfect and comfortable. I would definitely recommend it to anyone.

While the dress itself was amazing, it arrived with the hem undone at the bottom and a slight tear in the slit up the leg. Also, beware as UPS did not leave the dress at my home without a signature requiring me to spend two hours tracking down the dress on the driver's delivery route.

It hits all the right notes: It's sexy but not scandalous, bright colors and bold patterns but not overwhelming, a flattering cut that's comfortable and (with the right bra) easy to wear. That's the only thing you need- those stick on bra things! It's such a unique dress that I think almost anyone could pull of. This dress is one of the most memorable I've ever worn.

It fit me perfectly, although you definitely cannot wear a bra with it. I thought it was a tiny bit long when I was wearing 3inch heels, but I could definitely still dance in it!

Love the unique qualities of this dress! The slit and the back are super sexy. The only thing that didn't work was the length of this dress unfortunately. I am 5'9 and this dress was barely touching my ankles without heels. If you are 5'7 and under it might work best for you! Loved it though

The color and style of this dress is pretty accurate to the picture, but it was so short I couldn't wear heels with it. Also the top would not stay on me. I have an hourglass figure and felt this would have been more true to size for a more straight body figure. The top kept slipping off and felt like I could go down one or two sizes on the top but the bottom fit so I wouldn't be able to size down. If you are petite and have small hips I think this would look great but not so much for hourglass or anyone who's hips are wider than their shoulders.

I mean, what else could you ask for! I wore this to my company holiday party, and got TONS of compliments on it. The fit is very snug in the torso, so base your size on that. The colors and patterns are so fun, I loved this dress. Wish I could keep it!

The pattern and color are even more beautiful in person. I did have to wear 5 inch heels but I am 5'4. Be sure to get fashion tape for the straps as they can slide down. With the fashion tape, there was no problem. Overall, this is a RAD dress.

I fell in love with this dress. It complimented my figure perfectly and was such a gem among a sea of floral maxi dresses. I got so many compliments! I had to use fashion tape and sticky boobs but it was quite comfortable. I'm 5'5" and wore 2.75" heels and it was just the right length.

I wore this for a Southern-themed gala and it was absolutely perfect -- I do agree with other reviewers that the straps can be a bit difficult but otherwise it was great and totally unique. Thanks RTR!
