Didn't need a bra. Liner and dress were both heavy.

What is semi-formal anyway? Long gown or cocktail dress? Late-November wedding at 4 pm and the ceremony is outside (45-degrees). I own a couple of gowns and cocktail dresses, but all are sleeveless. So I rented this dress with sleeves but open neckline. It was perfect! A little shimmery, wore it with black hose and it fit like a glove. I'm 5'5" and 144 lbs and the size 6R was just right.

The fit was perfectly comfortable, I felt like Cinderella going to a cocktail party

I wore this to a work event/gala. I thought it would be matronly, but it was good for this event. The neckline was just enough sexy while still being appropriate. Received many compliments. The fabric is thick. It was warm enough for no jacket in winter SoCal. Forgiving stretch with ruching at the waist to conceal the post-baby pooch. I think you could also wear this during an early pregnancy. I wore it without a bra and used some tape to keep the girls perky. Not nips.

I'm in my mid 40s and it's tough to find something that's not too short or teenish! I loved this dress! Very classy and I got so many compliments on it.

Loved how snug this dress was with tights underneath-perfect amount of sparkle to dress up or down. Made my boobs look awesome too.

I'm almost 5'10" tall- 168 lbs and normally a size 12. I got a 14 as a backup just in case but the 12 pulled right up and smoothed over everything. I felt so great in it- ladylike- sophisticated and the portrait neckline made it a little sexy. Thanks RTR!

This dress was a hit at the wedding. It is comfortable, true to size and very flattering for wide shoulders.

The heavy fabric was perfect for a cool fall night, the 10R was just a little large, I probably could have worn an 8 but it still fit. I like that the material is stretchy so it's not too restrictive and tight. It's beautiful and comfortable, win/win!

I'm over 40, very tall, and extremely busty. This dress made me feel like a goth Jessica Rabbit in all the right ways. I ended up not wearing it to my event, but I will 101% rent it when I have another formal affair. The only downside is that the fabric is thick and it's warm.

Great fit, super comfortable but I did not end up wearing because the length was a little off for me as they didn’t have petite sizing. Length is a little too long for my petite frame & hits at unflattering angle but otherwise great fit and felt very elegant.

Dress was actually better than I expected. It was good quality and thick. The length was a little long but overall it was sophisticated and classy.

Rented this classic Lauren by Ralph Lauren for a New Years Eve party (dress was "Country Club cocktail"). I am in my early 60's (5' 5" 160), I normally wear a size 10 and it fit me like a glove. It's an over the head, no zipper or closure dress. Very comfortable! Could sit and dance with ease. Perfect dress for sophistication at the Country Club with just enough sparkle to make it fun! I enjoyed wearing it, and received so many complements. Would definitely rent it again!

This is my 2nd RTR and I must say another great choice for work Christmas party. I'm a size 6 have full hips but sm waist and bust and am 5'8". I could've worn a zero. The material is thick but not too thick. The long sleeve felt good in cold weather It you have bigger arms they might be tight but I have long thin arms and found them to be perfect. The dress is low cut but in a classy way. This dress reveals a good décolletage. Lots of compliments! Would love to purchase!!

Wore this to my husbands company christmas party. It was very conservative and classic, so it fit the need. Neckline was wide, so a normal bra wasn’t possible, strapless worked well though. Could probably go braless but didn’t feel appropriate. No zipper, so that was a bit annoying, bit of a challenge to get on. I wore shape wear but it was a very forgiving and firm flattering dress. Frayed a little on the sparkle threads, probably only noticeable to me though.

Didn't wear out. I always have a hard time wearing anything that has an asymmetric top to it. Cuta weird across my boobs

Great little black dress! It is very flattering on curvy figures and I received many compliments. I felt confident and beautiful. I wore it on Christmas Eve and again on New Year's Eve. The sparkles in the fabric are fun yet classy.

Neckline is quite wide so thin bra straps or no straps

I didn’t wear this because it wasn’t weather appropriate, however it fits beautifully except it was too long. I’m 5’3” and it was mid calf. I bought it and will have it hemmed. This dress is beautifully made and a very flattering fit. The fabric is heavy which makes it very forgiving, despite it being very fitted.

Wore this to a 6pm wedding in New England. It was a cold night and this kept me warm. Wore spanx underneath and it shaped me perfectly. So comfortable. loved the neckline, got lots of compliments! Danced all night and never once thought about the fit of the dress. Highly recommend.

Oh this dress is fabulous! Very slimming. But large in the bust. If you have a large bust you will be a perfect fit.

I am 5'4", 155, 36B. Small on top, large on bottom. This dress is EXTREMELY well made per RL standards, is flattering, perfect length just past knees. This one is a keeper. Considering buying as this is the perfect little black dress. FYI, I usually wear a 10 pants. What I love most is that it has the tiniest little sparkle that makes it not just a basic boring black dress.
