The slit was too high and not work appropriate

This is just a step up from a plain black dress, I like a more fashion forward look. I did love the cut around the neck and the slimming waist. Overall great look paired with this Kate Spade bag from RTR as well.

I rented this dress for a holiday dinner party with work friends. It is gorgeous! The material is nice and stretchy and it hugs your curves without feeling tight or constrained. The slit is appropriate (might reveal a little when you sit). The asymmetrical neckline is interesting and flattering and the best part is that you can wear a regular bra. I'm two months post-partum and nursing, so that was appreciated. The light rouching across the stomach also helped hide my belly, although I did wear a post-partum support garment underneath. I liked that the long sleeves meant I didn't need a coat. This dress was SO COMFORTABLE! There was no dancing at our dinner but if there WERE, you could totally dance in this dress in terms of freedom of movement. I am 41 years old, so it was age appropriate without feeling frumpy. I'm 5' 4" and 145 lbs. I normally wear between an 8 and a 10. The 8 was beautiful and while the 10 was a little bit bigger, it just felt a little too baggy, particularly in the arms. I wore the 8 - I'd recommend going UP a size for your back-up just in case. I would 100% wear this dress again and probably buy it if I could find it :)

True to size

This is a lovely LBD. It's a bit more formal than my office setting, but would be perfect to go from day to a night event. The material is thick, and perfect for colder climates. You would not want to wear this over 65 degrees, or you will roast. The cut is a bit mature, but the collar and waist add interesting detail and a delicious shape. The 12 was true to size up top, with a bit of extra room down below. Its perfect for the hourglass or pear-shape woman.

I wore this dress to my work's holiday party. After reading other reviews about it running small, I ordered my regular size and a size up. My regular size was tight in the arms, so I went with the larger size. It was very comfortable, flattering, and great quality! I got so many compliments on it! Thanks RTR!

This dress is so versatile, which I love! It could be worn to work, out to dinner, to a party, basically wherever you want! It was super comfortable too! The fabric doesn't have any stretch, but it is nice and thick so it is very flattering. The 8 was a perfect fit, so I recommend sticking with your typical dress size. I'm 5'5" and it hit right at my knee.

Beautiful dress. Understated and sexy at the same time. The material is thick which makes the dress flattering, but because it's a body con fit, you will still need to suck your gut in all night.

The dress fit very well. I'm wearing a size 12 and I'm 5'4 and 160 lbs. I'm pear shaped, so my top is smaller than my bottom, so it was just slightly loose at the top. There was definitely room for someone with a larger bust. But it wasn't too big to notice. Very comfortable. Very nice quality fabric. I got lots of compliments on this dress.

This dress is gorgeous and incredibly flattering. The neckline, ruching, and cut make for a LBD that is both classic and interesting. The 6 was very comfortable and just right for work, not too tight or too loose. The only word of warning would be the the slit comes a bit high when you sit. Great dress for work or an evening out.

The dress is thick and structured which gives it a nice professional appearance. I usually wear a 6 but sized up based on reviews. I had extra room in my waist and hips but could barely get my arms and shoulders in. I have athletic shoulders so it's not an uncommon problem but something to consider if you're a similar build. The slit in front is a little revealing while sitting; fair warning!

I got this to wear to a Halloween party, it was exactly what I needed for the character I was going as. Very classic, very old money.

I sized up to a 6 bc I wanted it to be a little looser in the arms and I know this brand's slit goes pretty high and was hoping I'd have some extra give in a bigger size... and I don't know that it really helped- still felt that the slit when a little high when I walked to feel comfortable at work or sitting without showing major upper thigh. If you want to show your legs off though- great dress for that. Slit probably isn't as bad if you aren't tall- but it really goes up there if you are.

I am 5'-4" and the dress was a little long. If I owned this dress I probably would've taken up the hem to the knee. The fabric is thick, which made it feel expensive. The cut and color were flattering.

The slit was pretty high, but I wore black tights and it wasn't noticeable.

Rented this to wear for a conference. I'd say it's true to size and maybe a little snug in the shoulder/arm area. I live alone and almost couldn't wear it because it was difficult to maneuver the zipper with how constricted the arms felt. Once on though the dress was lovely. The neckline, ruching and slit elevated this dress beyond a typical black dress. Would definitely rent again.

Rented this for an outdoor wedding reception but didn't end up wearing it because I thought I would be too cold. It fit beautifully. I did go up a size.

Fit well, very complimentary. I wore black tights under and pinned the slit a bit and then felt completely comfortable at work.

Perfect but short

Dress was gorgeous and fit true to size - the collarbone cutout is a great detail. Fair warning, the slit is serious, but wore for a work party, not a day in the office, so I hit it with a safety pin and voila, work appropriate-ish.

Very professional

The dress seemed to have gone through the cycle a few times as the material was a bit worn. However, barring that it was a beautifully constructed dress and very flattering. It hid the belly bulge.

This dress! I'd hoped to wear it for an important work presentation but between the slit and slightly snug fit it's just too suggestive for a professional setting. I suspect sizing up wouldn't solve the problem; I'm only 5'4 and the slit opens to mid-upper thigh when I'm seated. That said, I love love love the dress for a date, etc. The dress is well made, fabric feels glamorous, and structural details make it really something special. I can't wait to wear it out!

It runs large. I have been wearing a 12 and even the 10 was plenty big on me.

Very good fit and very flattering

Excellent material - this black dress was fitted and cut perfectly. Appreciated the simple style and was sophisticated with the shirrings. Center slit was nice when standing, but a bit much when sitting - had to cover with the event program.
