I typically wear a size 4, I’m 5’5 and 120 lbs. the 40R was a perfect fit. Glad I read comments to step into the dress and pull it up!

This dress is lovely! The gathering at the waist is very flattering, and the neckline detail is unique. There is no lining, and no zipper. Sort of a neoprene material, pretty stretchy. When I tried it on over my head my strapless bra ended up at my waist as I wrestled it on. I finally figured out I could step into it with some wiggling. I don't know Europe sizing well, so I am not sure it's true-to-size, but I wear a 4 or 6 pant and 6 or 8 top. Even with a long my shoes peaked out. Loved it.

This photo is silly but it shows my favorite part of the dress - the fit! Modest yet va-va-voom! *NOTE* I did wear one size up in this style due to the fabric, and although I'm hardly 5'6", the 42L just barely touched the floor with 2" heels. I wore a strapless bra, seamless standard underwear and Spanx. I have severe eczema and leading up to this event, I knew I needed a modest style that would hide my healing yet still visible outbreak. I'm 25 and I didn't want to wear my grandma's dress either. :) RTR to the rescue!

This is the most forgiving, comfortable, flattering gown. Step into it and pull it up. It’s heavy and warm for winter. I’d love to buy it!

This dress is simple and elegant. I loved the cutout along the neckline and the detail on the side. It was chilly the night I wore this dress, and I loved having the sleeves and not having to deal with a wrap! It is comfortable and classy. The material is not thin, which I loved. It is fitted, but it was so “easy” to wear- it falls nicely on the body and is flattering. I debated on sleeves/no sleeves, but it was absolutely perfect! I would rent this again.

Bodice made my waist look smaller than it is. Bottom hung just right and the accent created such flattering curves. It’s walks beautifully and felt effortless! Beyond comfortable!

This dress was my backup and it was a long as a second size. I am about 5'8" and I wore 2-3" heels - the long was perfect! The regular length would have come mid-low calf. I got SO many compliments on this dress! The color was gorgeous and it was so flattering.

Great gala gown. Received many compliments. If you have shoulder injury or if you don't have anyone to help pull this gown over your head at the end of the night, don't rent it! It was very comfortable to wear but just hard to get off. You must have your hair and makeup done AFTER pulling this gown over your head. Loved this gown!

Fit is right on. The stretchy, heavy fabric is fabulous, fitted, but forgiving. Perfect dress to dress up - or not - with heavy jewelry. Bonus: I could wear kitten heels and be comfortable all night long. I've never gotten so many compliments as with this dress.

This dress fit like a glove and accentuated all the right places while keeping it classy. I wore this to a professional formal event and received tons of compliments. I would rent again. Very comfortable for a long event. The color is unusual and definitely will make you stand out in a crowd.

Fit true to size. I wear 12/14. I am only 5'4 but wanted to make sure this was long enough with 4" heels.

It fit great! Thick material so I didn't need any spanx type undergarments. It worked great with a strapless bra. I am 5'1.5" and I used about a 3 inch heel and it came perfectly to the floor. I normally wear between a 4 and 6 and the 42R was perfect. It was cold at my event and this fabric was perfect to keep me warm, I especially loved having 3/4 length sleeves. I highly recommend this dress :)

The dress fit well, was incredibly comfortable and stunning. I am short waisted so the detail slit/opening in the bodice was closed unless I pulled down on the waist. I was able to climb into the dress feet first, but my hips are narrow, so not to mess up my hair--thanks for the other reviews with the suggestion.

This dress is absolutely amazing and I reccomend it so highly. I was worried the navy blue would be a bit boring or the dress would feel almost matronly but in was so wrong. The color is beautiful in person and the dress fit amazing. Sooo many compliments on it. I am a 36DD and there was enough support I didn't need a bra. Rent this dress!

Dress needs to be tight to look good; I wore the 6 (42) instead of my regular size 8 (44) and it looked good. I am 5'6", weight 140, and with 2 1/2" ballroom dance shoes the L was perfect. I wore a strapless Victoria Secret bra in nude color and Spanx with the hosiery included. For a Black tie wedding (Mother of the Groom), it was perfect!

The fit was perfect. The fabric felt like a warm hug all night and despite what others said, I wore a corset underneath for a smaller waist and it looked amazing. I can't say enough about this dress!

I love this dress. It’s just absolutely stunning. Heads turned when I walked in with this one, and deservedly so. It has a very form hugging fabric that tucks in your curves to just the right places. Where I’ve never been able to get an Herve Leger to fit just right, this one does.

The fit was perfection--as someone with some mega curves the dress molded itself to my shape. It was also the most comfortable formal gown I have ever worn. I had dozens of compliments and one admirer advised that the dress had been made for me. Adored it!

The fit for this gown is definitely true to size. I wear a size 8 and ordered a size 8 Long which was perfect. I am 5'2. The gown has a lot of stretch to it. The gown has no zipper, so you can either step into or pull it over head. The only issue I had was the smell of the gown (it had strong chemical scent/smoke smell). I hung the gown outside for several hours which got rid of the smell. But overall, this gown is elegant, sexy and will definitely bring plenty of compliments!

The cut of this is so flattering and the material just sucks you in and hugs all your curves in just the right way. I have never looked thinner!! I paired it with a lime green color to funk it up a bit. If you are doing a fun shoe i recommend getting the regular size, otherwise get the long!!

This is the most amazing dress i've ever worn! Elegant, classy and comfortable. Like other reviews, fits like a scuba suit. I pulled up rather than over head. You can wear normal undergarments which is always a bonus! I was nervous about length-but it was perfect. I highly recommend this dress. Color is a slate blue. Very classy. I'm 5' 2", 125 #'s, 34 B. I wore 42 regular, ordered 40 regular as a back up---never tried it on.

I rented this dress for a fundraiser gala that was a black tie event. It was a gorgeous dress that was very flattering in shape and style. It was a beautiful shade of blue that stood out amongst all of the black dresses. I rented jewelry and a clutch that were a perfect addition to the dress. I was thankful for the previous reviews that suggested to put the dress on prior to hair and make up. This is a hard dress to get on and would also highly recommend to dress first! I also found the dress to run a little small. I'm typically a size 2 in work dresses (J.Crew, Anne Taylor, Calvin Klein). I ordered the size 2 and 4 from RTR and wound up wearing the 4. It was a little tighter than I would've preferred but overall a very flattering and beautiful dress. I would totally rent this exact ensemble again for another black tie event. I think it would be flattering on any body type.

Hard to get into but worth it and super flattering!

Material is the good kind of stretchy but really thick and double lined. No spanx needed! Make sure it is snug on you because it seems to have some give as the night wears on. I am 5'7" and I ordered the regular length which was short so I had to buy kitten heels at the last minute. Wish I would have ordered the tall. This dress is meant to be worn nearly touching the ground. Loved wearing this dress!

I cant say enough good things about this designer. It is my go-to for any occasion. Sucks you in and highlights your shape. Great for curvy girls. I always go down a size bc I like the vavavoom. Plenty of stretch so don't be scared!
