I am a big fan of gaudy, and these earrings were exactly that. They were huge and shiny and looked great with my short hair. If you're looking for understated, these are not for you. The only negative thing I can say is that they were pretty heavy. They're clip ons, which helped them be more tolerable in the weight department, but I could still only keep them on for an hour or two. I've got pretty sensitive ears and I don't wear earrings on a daily basis, though, so if your lobes are tougher than mine you might be okay.

these were terrific. they're a statement, to be sure. they're a little heavy and probably a hair longer than I expected, but they were very pretty.
