This dress has mixed reviews and I understand the reasons but I loved this dress and was showered with compliments. Let's go over the points of contention Fit While you cannot adjust the shoulder straps, the back laces can be customized by the wearer. This dress will be a challenge for bosoms that need support because it's backless. The waist and hips are cut true to size. Fabric An elegant material with a slight sheen but not shiny, this dress moves but doesn't flow. It does wrinkle.

I loved this dress and the length and shape it provided. It was comfortable - and the reviews instructed me to cross cross in back and wrap around tie in the front. I would rent it again! My only complaint is that for a thousand dollar dress it wrinkles so easily (crunch cargo fabric). I was a little surprised with the crinkle factor.

I had some struggles with this dress at first. I didn't realize or remember that the strings that cross in the back actually are supposed to wrap around and tie in the front, which left me tying them in to a bow in the back and getting an awkward fit. Once I figured out what I needed to do, I rocked this dress hard. I skipped undergarments and went with simple sandals to dress it down. Pockets were clutch. So. Many. Compliments. Loved it - wore it 3x in a week!

This dress was sent to me as a backup for my anniversary party. I went with another dress but definitely wanted to wear this before it went back. I would say it definitely looks more casual, appropriate for everyday wear. The material is a heavy cotton feel and hangs beautifully. Love the splits and extra rounds along the bottom of the dress and it was very flattering through the hips. And pockets! My big big complaint is that the straps are not adjustable. I am short waisted and had to wear a lightweight bra top thing to avoid flashing. The two times I wore this I spent at least half the time putting the straps back up on my shoulder. Very sexy back was a little less sexy since I had the bra top underneath.

The dress has pockets and the fabric is rather rigid and heavy so the pockets stick out away from the sides. Awkward fit around the bust. Doesn't move flowy like it seems in the picture

Only negative is what others have mentioned - it wrinkles easily! Iron it the night before - it takes a while to iron.

Material and cut made the dress really flattering. Nothing I didn’t like.

Looks chic and casual with a long cardigan over it and Chelsea boots, or more formal with heels and no sweater. Great!

Neckline and back are spectacular, plus it has pockets. However this was cut pretty large so I couldn't wear it. I also wasn't a huge fan of the material.

What a gorgeous dress. You can adapt the fit with the straps. The fabric was more sturdy ensuring that the shape was maintained.

This got some bad reviews but I loved it. The poplin makes it more casual so that you can wear a black dress like this for a summer wedding, I would have been overdressed if it were a flowy or shiny fabric like silk or crepe. I found it to fit well, maybe a tiny bit loose, but you're better off erring on the large side because you can adjust with the tie back. Flattering and comfortable.

The pockets made it even better:)

This is a beautiful and elegant dress but it is way too long for someone like me. I am 5'1. It was too much work to have it taped, as I usually do with other long dresses. It will look great on a taller woman.

I should have read more reviews about the material. But the fit is more mermaid than I anticipated. Lovely but not for our P town vacation.

I wanted to love this dress. The material is gorgeous - a thick structured cotton that is perfect for a hot summer evening. Definitely made well. The top and low cut back are great but the trumpeted bottom of the dress doesn't make sense. The top of the dress says sundress but the bottom says cotton ball gown. Also, was about two inches too short and weirdly I'm 5'7.

Very cute dress, but it ran big & fit me a bit awkward. Maybe will try a sized smaller & see if the fit is improved.

I loved everything about this dress! Really wish it would have fit! It looks great in photo for an hourglass but it's actually quite "straight" in shape. I'm usually a solid 10 in dresses with a classic hourglass shape. This dress was huge in the waist and super tight in the hips. The picture I think doesn't demonstrate this well. I probably could have made the waist work with tie but the cotton fabric just didn't allow for any give in the hips...was a beautiful dress but for someone with a straighter figure.

Ordered a 6 in this dress, but didn't wear as it didn't fit right. This dress was fitted almost like a mermaid gown, it hit to my ankles, had slits in the lower portion. As it was fitted, the pockets looked weird. The tope was also big. If I had sized up to an 8, the top would have been too big. There is stretch to the dress. The back is super cute

My own fault I didn't love this dress as I clearly didn't read the details well. I thought this would be a more silky sexy vibe but the material was very stiff. I liked the back but the pockets fell in a weird spot for me and was not flattering.

The cut of the dress was perfect. It was very long and touched the floor. I am tall. The material is very heavy for a summer dress. I felt a bit like a Witch on summer vacation.

I didn't realize the material of this dress wasn't a flowy lighweight material like it looks in the photos. It's a lot stiffer and was too big in the chest without a way to adjust. Too tight through the hips as well.
