Perfection

Another quarantine find. The size 2 was way too long for me (I'm 5,1") and a little too loose in the waste, but still looked elegant because of the way the fabric drapes. I comfortably wore this for a special occasion at home, all the way to the sunrise. I hope I can rent this again when it's not just by bf who will see it.

Wore this to a NYE Wedding. The back of this dress is EVERYTHING. Incredibly comfortable and skimmed my body without pulling. I have a smaller chest and the fabric was heavy enough that I didn't need to Worry about a bra or wearing petals. Danced in this all night and it stayed perfectly in place.

I am normally between a size 10 & 8. I ordered a 10 and wanted an 8 backup. They didn't have the 8 so I got the size 6. I ended up wearing the 6! The dress fit perfectly. No slipping. No dragging on the ground (I wore high heels). The dress was great material so it hung beautifully, but not too heavy to wear all night eating, drinking and dancing.

This dress flatters in all the right places. I love a low back and this gave me exactly what I was looking for. The dress is forgiving even if you're feeling a little bloated. It's true to size, I didn't need a bra, the dress is obviously well made, I wasn't adjusting myself or the one shoulder strap at all. This dress was surprisingly comfortable except for ppl stepping on the cape while we were on the dance floor.

The high quality of the dress and its material is very noticeable when worn, to both the wearer and everyone else. The rental price is a steal!

I can't say enough amazing things about this dress, its my favorite rental to date. I wore it to a black tie wedding and got nonstop compliments all night. You have to wear sticky boobs with it, which worked perfectly (I wore a Nu bra). I wore about 4 inch heels and it was a bit long still, but it didn't bother me to pick it up a bit while walking. I'll be so sad to send it back!

Fit overall was very good, a tad bit short on me, but the back is amazing and dress is comfy and easy to move in, great for dancing! Complements all night, very unique, sexy dress.

Felt like Hollywood royalty

The dress was absolutely gorgeous. I received so many compliments, and my SO couldn't keep his hands off me. My original dress was unavailable so RTR not only offered to send me another dress, but also told me I could pick anything from the website, and I would not be charged extra. I am very happy with their service and their promptness. I was initially annoyed, but they made sure I did not go to the gala in something I'd regret. As for the dress, it is very heavy, so you should probably get a lot of tape to keep it up. I wore a strapless and backless bra with the gown. I'm petite, but since they didn't have my size, I ordered the regular size. Because of that, the dress was a bit long on me. I wore 4 inch heels. The dress pairs well with smokey-eyed make up. The side cape and the back made me feel like a movie star. The back has a trail, which feels amazing. I would definitely recommend it to anyone going to a very fancy event. Thank you RTR for making my night special!

I wore this for a black tie wedding. It was so comfortable. I could dance and enjoy the night and felt like a supermodel. Plus received tons of compliments.

I'm 6 mos pregnant and the extra room in tummy and hips made this gown very easy to wear. I love the open back and the shoulder cape effect. Very fun!

i wish i had a better photo! got this dress as a backup for a black tie wedding, when something happened with my original selection. blessing in disguise!! the open back is stunning, as is the one-shoulder design. the fit is loose. making it more forgiving size wise, and perfect for a wedding (i like to be able to eat and drink comfortably). the length was good--a bit short in the front but longer in the back, so it was fine. my friends loved it, strangers loved it, i loved it!!!

I wore this dress to a formal wedding in Bogotá.colombia. The back is very sexy. The dress is very comfortable. A bit long on me but it looked nice dragging .

I'm obsessed with this dress. I wore it to a fancy media event and felt like a glam vintage movie star. It fits a little loosely by design, which was perfect (girl's gotta eat!). I am curvier and it hugged every part nicely. I did the Kardashian tape trick and it worked. The cape is everything. I took advice from reviews and found the perfect angle for pics. It's on the pricier side but worth it if you have a big night and want to wear a fancy designer. Only downside is if you're at an event with a ton of people you have to be mindful of the cape and that people won't step on it. Highly reco!

This dress was perfect for the fundraising formal gala I attended! 6.5 months pregnant and wanted something that was still slightly sexy but not overly so. It perfectly followed by curves and made my bump look elegant, not maternal. I got compliments all night. I would definitely recommend this dress. The weight of the material is fairly heavy, which creates the beautiful drape however it would be very hot to wear outside in warm weather. I would recommend this for a late fall, winter, early spring or indoor formal event!

A stylist at RTR Chicago suggested this gown to me when the ones that were on my list weren't available. I would have never picked this gown out from the photos because it looks fairly plain and conservative from the front. It is also definitely more flattering in photos when taken at certain angles, so if you are getting a lot of photos taken you might want to figure that out in a mirror beforehand. Very loose and comfortable fit, the one fitted area is around the chest. You'll want your hair up for maximum effect!

Beautiful, elegant draping. A dramatic cape detail. This gown is a chic showstopper. Running true to size, I'd recommend sizing up if you're curvier and down if you're smaller framed. There is room in the bust, waist, and hips as this gown is meant to have a more loose, effortless silhouette. The low back adds edge and allure, making it more than just a plain black gown. With a full open back you do need to go bra-less or wear a nubra. The thick crepe material is comfortable, has some stretch, and is very well made. At 5'7" the length was perfect with a 1-4 inch heel. Wear with dangling earrings or a statement clutch.

I am 5'7 and when I wore this dress I was 146 lbs / 32DDD being it was 6 weeks after having a baby. I liked how the size 8 wasn't too clingy to my midsection and the neckline didn't flaunt mu breasts too much. I wore 3 inch heels and the length was okay considering my height, however if the dress would have been available in a 8 Long I would have preferred that. There is zero bra support or padding in the dress, so I wore those sticker/band aid things over my nipples. It would have been nice if the cape train had one of those finger loops to hold the train up while dancing at the wedding (if not careful people will step on the cape train). Dress was glamorous, but I felt the rental price was extremely high in my opinion. Had I not been in a bind to rent a dress that day for a wedding the following day, I would have selected a cheaper dress. However the Rent the Runway store in NYC for my style appointment didn't have any other dresses available that were long enough for my height, size, and occasion (Black tie wedding).

I received this as a back up when part of my original order wasn't able to be delivered. I would have liked it to be a little longer and not as tight across the top, but overall it was pretty. If I ever have the chance to get this dress again I would size up and get it in a long.

This is a sexy dress that still feels classy. I didn't end up wearing this for the wedding, but I was impressed with the structure of the dress, even with the open back. The dress is heavy bc of the material. It is also looser around the bust and waist so there's plenty of room to breathe. It fit surprisingly well too!

This was my first rental with RTR and the gown I requested could not be sent due to damage. I found this out the day before it was supposed to be delivered. While I was panicked, the RTR team was hard at work making sure I would still get a gown that I wanted and even still in the time frame I requested. They allowed me to choose any dress on their site and returned my emails with great urgency. This was the best customer service I have ever received. This gown was stunning. I got compliments all night long and would definitely rent again! I normally wear a 2 or 4 but because of reviews requested the 0 and 2. The 0 fit like a dream. I wore 4 inch heals and they were perfect. Would recommend!!

I ordered this as a back up because the original dress I ordered became unavailable a week before I needed it to be here. I would rent this dress in a heart beat. It was just so cold and I needed more coverage for the weather.

Wore this beautiful dress for a school gala. Received lots of compliments. It was actually a back up when my original pick was not going to be available in time for the event. But I'm glad I got to wear it! I wish I had gotten better pictures, but the fit was sleek and glamorous. Even with an open back, I did not feel like it was too revealing. And a cape! What more could you want?

its a classic black dress but that low back and thick luxurious material make it a stand out. i loved how it felt, not need for spanx and yet it was form fitting and very sexy. rent it!

So, i am in my forties with a toddler, which roughly translates to "i have NYE parties at home these days." And it is a great thing! This year we hosted friends for steak and champagne and wine and chanpagne and chocolate. I always admired my nana for keeping it fancy at her parties, and i have carried forward that tradition. Even in my home, NYE is a formal affair. And this dress is perfect for hosting a formal affair! Pros: so many! It has a cape AND is backless- best of both worlds! It is loose fitting so great when eating is required at ypur formal event. Fabric is soft and medium weight- thick enough to smooth over any concerns but not so hot you sweat. Good movement and stretch for dancing! Cons: just one- the hanger string on the zipper side was an absolute nuisance. It is sewn in at the topnof the zipper which is right where the back strapping attaches. If i owned it i would have cut it off. I styled this gorgeous gown with crystal bracelet and earrings and black with gold stud heeled sandles.

Absolutely stunning gown - definitely not your average formal dress! Loved the toga with the little trail. Length was perfect with medium heels. Received lots of compliments, dress was perfect for the occasion. I was a little worried if it would stay up (it is held up only by a thin rubber band that spans across the back, and a single button), but all was fine! Highly recommend the gown if you really want to stand out in a sophisticated, classy way. Don't think its suitable for larger busts though as it is impossible to wear a bra. Was my first rental with RTR, will definitely be back. Great service!

Can't wear a bra (or spanx, probably). So might not be the best if you're bigger in the chest. And I'm 5'6" and it felt a teensy bit short with high heels. So might not be the best bet for taller girls. Otherwise, it's perfect.

This dress is a jaw dropper and made me feel like a million bucks. For reference, I'm 5 ft 2 in and about 115lb and I wore the 2R because 0R wasn't available. I wore 4.5" heels and it was still a bit too long, but it is such a formal dress that I don't think it really looked off. The back of this dress is really what makes it stand out. I wore it to a formal gala event, and everyone asked me where it was from.

This either fits TTS or a little large because it is cut on a bias. It was very comfortable, but the train was a little long. I got many compliments!

So I am normally between a 0 and 2, but got this dress in a 2R and 4R. The 2 was not available, so I tried on the 4 and to be honest I could have gotten away with it. The only problem is that for someone my height, even the regular length is kind of long. But that's nothing high heels and some fashion tape can't fix. I will say that I probably could have easily worn a 2 as well considering how stretchy the fabric is. NOTE that the back is open and dips low and has a stretchy string that zig zags across your back and gives it a modern look (the lowest point of the open back almost went to my panty line but i have a short mid-section). So you cannot wear a bra with this dress (only sticky bra, petals, or nothing). It was very elegant and the back was a sexy little touch so not the most conservative style dress with that feature, but def chic. OVERALL LOVED IT! RENT IT!

I went with another option for this occasion because I wanted more color - but this is a stunning and flattering dress with exquisite details. The 2R was a tad loose on me but not terribly so. You can feel the quality of the fabric and make of this dress and it feels like a million bucks on! The cape detail is fun and the back is gorgeous.

Conservative front, sexy back. Heavy fabric won't wrinkle. Makes you feel beautiful.

Did not wear, was replacement dress. Heavy dress, would be great for a toga type theme. 10R was long--would need a 4" heel. Far more flattering in the bodice than I though it would be, however, not for anyone with back fat, puckering or just slight back rolls. Further more, would only be able to wear a sticky bra and likely would not be able to wear panties and esp no spanx---the back v's down much too far to be able to wear concealer type undergarments. All in all, a sexy gown maintaining full frontal coverage, but would take a specific body type to pull off.
