It was a little hard to get into since I am so short and my hips didn't quite fit where they needed to, but overall it looked really good and it was super comfy!

I tried this on in Bloomingdale's before renting, and the 8 fit perfectly. I rented an 8R and 8L. I am normally a 6 in dresses, but this dress is very fitted in the hips. The brand new dress in an 8 fit well, but the 8 I received from Rent the Runway was way too big on top. It must have stretched out with continuous wearings? Being a strapless dress, I could not wear it. As another review had said about the size 8- the hem was also very messed up on my backup size. It was super shrunken and short.

Perfect fit, the dress is just stunning. One exception, I wish it was an inch shorter. I am 5"4' - obviously wore scarpins, but it was still a little long. It was very elegant and eye catching though.

This dress is my absolute all time favorite go-to when I have a black tie wedding or work related gala. It fits perfectly, hugs every curve, and is so simple, elegant, and flattering. I have rented this more than once and cannot wait for it to go on clearance so I can purchase it for my forever wardrobe!

great fit this was my second choice. Rent the runway is hit or miss I always order 2 dresses because the sizes are way off I always order a 4 or 6 dress size my first choice that didnt work out i ordered in a 6 but was huge and the 4 was so small and up to my ankles I deffanitly think the tags were changed on that dress I think it was a 2 petite thank god the second dress fit the one in the picture I am still upset about the loss of money on the first dress I did email but did not receive a credit this is my third time ordering from rent the runway

So many compliments on this dress. It definitely is a tight one, so be prepared to sit on the edge of your seat-- but it is GORGEOUS and is a thick enough fabric to feel very comfortable. Didn't have to wear a bra. Loved this dress.

This was the perfect dress for the occasion! I usually wear a 2 in dresses because I have a small waist, but after reading the other reviews about the hip area being tight/not forgiving, I decided to also rent the 4 and I'm glad I did! The dress was a little large in the bust, so I had to wear a strapless bra to fill it out a little more, fit perfectly in the hips, and the length was just a little long with 3 inch heels (I'm 5'4/5'5). Would highly recommend!

This dress fit like a glove and hugged my curves in a very flattering way. I was looking for a classic black gown for our engagement pics. I didn't want anything too too trendy and for our photos 10 years from now to look dated. This dress was perfect. I am 5'6" and the dress was too short to wear anything but tiny heels.

This was my back up dress after my first dress didn't work out. This was actually around my 10th choice as a lot of the dresses were unavailable because it was so last minute. I will say that this dress looks much better on that it does on the model so I was pleasantly surprised. I'm very tall so I always worry about length but it was perfect with 3 in heels. Wore this to a Navy ROTC Ball so the dress code was formal and more on the conservative side and this dress fit the description perfectly. Overall fit was perfect! A little snug around the butt, but otherwise it was a great fit and perfect for this occasion.

Accurate fit. No adjusting or support garments needed. For a black dress, the neckline really adds an edge that makes it unusual.

I rented this dress for Hair of the Dog & it was perfect. This was my back up dress and I wound up choosing to wear it. It fit perfectly! Very true to size. I am 5'8" and I would definitely recommend getting the long especially if you're going to wear heels. It was comfortable and conformed to my body just right!

I loved this dress! I wore this to a debutant ball in shreveport and it fit so perfectly. I was a little bit skeptical because it was my first rental from RTR but it turned out to be a great first experience. The dress is a little tight around the hip area so if you have a little curves, like me, you may want to get a bigger size.

I originally wanted to order the 8R and 10R in this dress to be safe, as I've got wide hips and have never really worn a fitted dress, but the 10R was unavailable. I opted for the 6L just in case (thinking I'd probably never fit in it but a backup is better than nothing) and am so glad I did... I tried on the 8R first and, although it fit, something was off. The neckline of the dress was disheveled and the hemline barely skimmed the floor, even barefoot. Since the reviews I had read said the length was appropriate, I was confused, until my mom pointed out that the dress had clearly not been cleaned properly...the lining had shrunk and was pulling the neckline and hemline in the wrong directions. Im sure not all of the 8Rs are like that, but I'd be careful if ordering that size. Enter the 6L...I tried it on out of last minute desperation, and much to my surprise, it zipped! It was more snug than the 8, but the dress was in pristine condition and instantly made me feel glamorous. The dress is sturdy enough that I was able to go braless (34DD) but could've worn any strapless bra, there was some wiggle room in the bust. I opted to wear flats because I had to be at the church hours before the wedding started, but I could've easily worn heels (5'7"/5'8"). I opted to wear spanx for some added support, but the material is thick enough to hide flaws on its own. I received compliment after compliment all night and am still getting "where did you get that dress?!" questions! It's the epitome of simple, sexy, and classic elegance...I'd highly recommend it to anyone who wants to subtly steal the show!

While I only received the one size with my order, not my back up size (I believe it was just mistakenly not put in with my order), I could not be happier with everything! The dress was slightly loose up around the top but my strapless bra had enough bulk to take up the space. I only had to wear like 2-2.5" heels and it was exactly floor length.

If they have a xs, try that too!

This dress hugs curves in all the right places and smoothes over bumps. Very flattering and comfortable. My only quibble is that while the fit is incredible, the fabric and design are on the dull side. Its not a "wow" of a dress from a design perspective.

I bought this is a back-up dress, but ended up wearing it to a black tie wedding. The material is thicker, so better for a cooler/fall/winter wedding. The black is very flattering. I loved the interesting neckline. It fit my hips so well and came down to the floor - sort of a mermaid type style near the bottom, which I loved! I am 5'4", 34-A bust, with wide hips. This dress would be perfect for any bust size, and works well with curvier hips. I absolutely loved it and got so many compliments on it! I wore 3-inch heels.

Pro: Looks and feels great. Con: It needed to be ironed/steamed. Difficult to iron. Better off steaming it.

Perfect black dress. GREAT for ladies who are busty. I was originally nervous because I'm one of those gals who always has to wear a bra with her dress...except I was able to rock this one braless! Now that's a WIN! There is boning beneath the bust line which totally helped and ample room in the chest area. I absolutely loved the neckline and the shape of the dress which sort of helped me look a little more hour glass. I'm 5'3.5 and the dress grazed the floor in 3.5" heels. I loved the material and it was very flattering, I was "the girl in the beautiful black dress". Would love to rent this again.

I ordered 8L because I have a very long legs even though I'm only 5'5. I typically wear 4 inch heels and length was perfect. This dress highlights your assets to PERFECTION!

Amazing formal gown from Jill Jill Stuart! Running true to size, we recommend going one size up for backup just in case the bust is too tight. This dress works best for largest bust sizes. The midsection is fitted to show off your curves, but it is still comfortable. If you’re curvier, you may want to consider sizing up due to the fitted hip area. This dress is strapless so, you would have to wear a NuBra or no bra for this look. This gown is floor length. If you’re taller, this dress would hit a little higher off the ground. This dress is stunning and perfect for black-tie weddings, holiday events and formal affairs. It would look best with heels and statement accessories to add some flare!

As other renters have said, the top runs a bit large; I had to size down for the top (I'm an A-cup) which made the dress tight in the hips. I am 5'3" and wore the regular size - it just skimmed the floor with 4 inch heals.

I LOVED this dress. My body type can be very hard to dress. I have larger ribs/shoulders with narrow hips so finding a dress that knows where to hug and where to give some room is difficult. This one was amazing. I received compliments all night and felt so beautiful. If you're like me and are an apple/athletic body type, I highly recommend! Only issue I had was the boning in the middle poked me and pokes out of the dress but you can't really see it. I also could've definitely worn a Regular instead of a long. I wore flats so it dragged a little, but wasn't bad at all!

I am only 5'5 and never have to get anything in long but I am so glad that I listened to the other reviews! I got an 8 regular as my backup and it was way too short. I ended up wearing the 6L. The length was perfect and it fit my curves perfectly (and I didn't even have to wear spanx!). The top was a little too big for me and I definitely had to wear a strapless bra. As the night went on, the top got a little looser and I kept having to pull it up. The hanger straps kept coming out too which was annoying. I was a little disappointed in the dullness of the fabric but was prepared as many others commented on the color. The dullness doesn't come out in pictures. Overall it was a really great dress to wear and I received many complements.

I loved this dress ! I wore it to a gala and it was a 1940s American in Paris theme absolutely perfect! The only thing that did bother me about the dress that it wasn't long enough and that was my fault I should of got 4 L other then that the dress it self was beautiful

This was my first RTR dress and it was a great experience. I ordered a 10R to be safe but should have stuck with the 8R. I'm 5'7 150lbs...The 10 was a little big, but not too noticeable. The bust area had quite a bit of room...great dress for full busts. I had to pull it up a few times and had to wear flats due to the length. Other than that the experience was great!

I wore this dress to a black tie wedding and it was on-par. I received many compliments on it throughout the night. The best part of the dress is the flowy bottom which makes it look very elegant. The dress is form fitting and does not have any stretch to it. It snugged my hips and butt. My bust is a 34DD and it was a little too big in the bust. Standing at 5'8" with 3" heels, the dress grazed the ground. Would have liked it to be a little longer and have worn it with higher heels, but it was fine. Some off measurements (length of a Long, too large of a bust, etc) leads to me rate this dress a 4 instead of a 5. Overall, I enjoyed the night in this dress & was happy to have rented it.

This dress was great but I gave it 4 stars because the top front was kind of rippled and not as straight and stuff as it should have been. Fortunately the necklace I rented was a standout and distracted from the flaw. I probably should have gotten a long but it wasn't available at the time. But I ended up wearing shorter heels so it was fine. I could have made a 6 work but it would have been snug for sitting and the gala I went to required a lot of doing just that.

I wore a size 2R and the dress fit well overall, but it was too large in the bust. I am smaller chested and had to wear a padded bra to fill it out. The dress was also slightly too short, which normally is not a problem for me, as I am 5'4. If you want to be able to wear tall heels, I would recommend ordering a long. I had to wear short wedges for it to look right

Absolutely loved this dress but it was just too short for my 6ft frame. The bottom did skim the floor but wouldn't have worked with heels or any flats that I own.
