This was a great dress. I wore it to a New Year's Day brunch and recieved many compliments.
The dress is beautiful to wear. I am about 50 yrs old and felt very youthful and fashion forward even while being age appropriate. Just be aware that the inner blue slip has some give, the sheath is unforgiving. I wore the small inner slip and had extra room, but the small sheath has extremely small armholes that barely came over my biceps, and not much give across the chest and shoulders; I couldn't zip it over my 36" chest. So I put on the medium sheath, which was fine, if just a little roomy in the waist. Another small note - the bottom edge of the sheath is 'raw cut' tulle, meaning it is not a smooth hem. It looks awesome, but it sort of made little scratch marks onto my stockings. Nonetheless the dress was abosolutely gorgeous and the compliments kept on flowing. I highly recommend this dress. I would rent it again.

Blue, Bold an Beautiful
I wore this dress for my Dad's birthday celebration which turned out to be my surprise bridal shower. It was great and everyone loved my dress. I wore it with black stockings and black booties I ordered a medium and large, ended up wearing the large underlay and medium overlay. It worked out perfectly! It's very true that the fit is very tight around the arms. Unless you have thin or toned arms, the sleeve will fit tight. I made it work and it looked nice.

An interesting, timeless dress...
This dress caught my eye immediately and I couldn't believe it was such a low cost rental! It's a 2- piece with the cobalt blue slip and separate black netting piece. The size L slip fit perfectly while the netting was a slightly big and bunched up in my back area, but the medium wouldn't go over my head. The sleeves & chest are tight, I could only raise my arms to chest height, so this is not a dress to dance in. The netting is a bit itchy, but I totally forgot about it as the night wore on.

The detailed pattern on this dress really made it stand out in the crowd.
It's a little short so I wore it with black tights and black heels. the overlay is a little itchy, but I really didn't notice after a cocktail. I chose to wear it with a strapless bra since the straps of the underlay blue dress don't line up exactly with your typical bra. Very pretty, very sophisticated dress. Definitely recommend it.

Great outfit to dress up or down
I wore this to a birthday dinner followed by drinks at a hotel. This dress is great because you can play it up or down with the accessories you choose. The small fit me in the slip and overlay but the overlay was a bit stiff so I wore the medium which had the perfect amount of room to be comfortable. I have a hard time finding things that fit in my hips but this was perfect; not too loose, not too tight. It was chilly that night so I wore opaque black tights and black suede pumps. I steered away from carrying an ornate clutch or big jewelry because I thought the design on the dress spoke for itself. This is a great dress with a lot of options.

The rich color really caught my eye!
The rich royal blue lining was very eye-catching!! I would agree with the other review that the straps were placed in a bit of an unconventional way. The lining is separate from the dress and hugged the body while the sheer overlay had a bit more room. The design on the overlay is very unique and definitely makes this dress stand out among the crowd.

Unique & Totally Worth it!
The unique look of this style reflects the amount of detail put into the design of this dress! Overall it fit true to size while the outside layer had a little more room than the lining, adding to the fun sheer overlay effect! I paired it with the Mod Squared Necklace and a simple gold earrings.

It came on time and in good condition. Was a fun dress for New Year's Eve!
It's cute and I got a lot of compliments. But it's scratchy and not so comfortable to wear. The blue slip layer kept moving up so I felt that I had to keep pulling it down.

Eye-catching RTR dress for my Employee Awards Banquet
This beautiful Palace Sheath dress caught my eye on the RTR website when it was first introduced. I loved the rich royal blue and the sheath over the top really made it special. I received many compliments when I wore this for our annual employee banquet; my coworkers said it was really pretty as I crossed the stage. The royal blue sheath underneath has some stretch to it. The thin straps are adjustable, but they are placed a bit awkwardly and my bra straps ended up crossing over them. If they were more in line with my bra it would have looked bit nicer. The black sheath is a separate piece worn over the top. It is sort of a tulle type material which has no stretch and is a bit stiff. My arms are not exactly thin and willowy so the sleeves were a snug fit. Luckily I didn't have to move my arms around or up/down very much during the event! Btw, my coworker is wearing Shoshanna's "Love Affair" dress from RTR!

Great dress for daytime event
This was a great little dress -- my only gripe was the sleeves were tight, so for an athletic build, you may might want to size up. By the end of the day, I had marks on my arms and my skin was a bit irritated. The rest of the dress fit very well. Since it was an unlimited rental, I'm not sure if sizing up would have negatively impacted the entire look.

Making history.
Exactly the way it looked like in the photo. I'm petite so the hemline was right above my knee. The sleeve was a little constricting but I got used to it over the duration of the event. BUT the blue slip was a little worn around certain areas. Good thing it was underneath the black. Had to expect it from it being a rental. Other than that it was worth it!

Great unique dress, the blue brilliant and stood out for NYE!
The overlay was hard to snug into. I am 5'5.5" and 125 lbs. The S fit well everywhere but the shoulder area- tight at around the sleeves to where I didn't think I could raise my arms very high. I have some muscle tone to the arms which could have thrown off the fit. Super happy with the dress overall.

I fell in love with this dress the moment I saw it. Funky, different, but subtle and classy.
I didn't end up wearing this dress unfortunately. The large wasn't available so I decided to take a chance on the medium. Being pear shaped, it rode up on my lower back. The chest was also a bit tight on me as well. If I had the Large, I think it would have been perfect. It's two pieces, the blue sheath under which has a bit of stretch in it, and the overlay. The overlay is a bit stiff, but not as noticeable once you wear it. It's also not a dress you want to wear if you're going to be lifting your arms up a lot. There is zero stretch to the outer sheath. It's absolutely gorgeous on though, even when I was squeezed into it I felt awesome.

I ordered this dress in an XS and S for a fancy dinner date for my boyfriend's 21st birthday
I ended up not wearing it to the dinner because it fit so oddly. It fit just fine except for random areas - as in, it was much to big on the ribcage area, in the shoulders, bunched in the lower back. The blue also unfortunately just was not complimented by the outer black sheath and the blue has a really high neck and spaghetti straps and is just one of the most odd and ill-fitting things I had ever put on. I did not want to waste ordering this dress, so I wore something I owned to my boyfriend's big birthday, and I ended up wearing the XS outer sheath over a black slip with a tight belt around the waste for our sorority rush where we all had to wear black dresses. I got a lot of compliments on it and with some creative maneuvering it was possible to erect something fashionable and cool out of what had originally been a confusing disaster.

Did not wear, but overall it is a nice dress. Read below:
This dress was a backup for a wedding. Didn't wear it and here's why: I thought it was overall so gorgeous! Quality was great, dress in good shape. The blue under garment was fine; I could have actually worn a small. The lace overlay size M was big in the waist and hips but so tight in the chest. I sized up and tried the L over lay. It was too big in the chest and WAY too big everywhere. The large just looked super frumpy and the M looked a little tight across my chest and was uncomfortable in the arms. Sometimes lace pieces with no give just don't work out, this being one. But, it really was a nice dress! I honestly think this is the best type of dress for very slim types without too much curvature in the chest..OR a girl with very petite shoulders/ribcage. The hips would be big enough if petite shoulders/larger hips were your body type.

Beautiful, creative, unique dress but not a good fit for heavy up top!
Dress is two separate pieces. Neither pieces have stretch. The bright cobalt blue silk slip is exactly that, a slip, but gorgeous color and with adjustable straps, which always helps. I would have worn the blue slip in size Small if only the mesh piece would have fit. Overall tight in the arms like other reviewers had said, but doable and not THAT uncomfortable. Mesh dress has NO stretch at all and very snug up top. I was so smashed up there especially with the size Small. I ordered the Medium for this reason exactly, but even the Medium was tight up top and then way too roomy and too much fabric from waste down. Huge bummer. Love the dress. As always, fantastic RTR customer service! Another dress is being overnighted as we speak. Fingers crossed!

Gorgeous! But sleeves cut at awkward length.
I had to go with my backup due to the fact that arm movement in the dress was fairly constricting. I was afraid I would tear the sheath dancing. But the color is gorgeous and the patterned overlay more delicate and striking in person. The slip is form fitting, but the sheath covers problem areas well. I would recommend to someone taller (I'm 5'1") with longer arms.

funky and different
This dress is actually two pieces (the blue under dress and the black over piece). I wore it to a friend's wedding and it was lots of fun. I wouldn't normally buy a dress like this so it was a great idea to rent something a little out of my comfort zone. I got lots of compliments.

The problem was the sleeves - I couldn't lift my arms. On the up side, the blue slip (very pretty color) has adjustable straps. On the downside (at least for me), the sheath in size small seemed too small. The medium would have been OK, except for the lack of give in the sleeves.

I wouldn't rent it again.
I rented this as a second option. The quality just wasn't there with this dress. The dress is actually two pieces. The under layer is not quality material and the straps are in a very awkward place. The top is VERY stiff and not comfortable. I would normally be between an xs and s and I was in this dress too. I would have worn the xs because it fit me snugly and the s might have been just a touch too loose.

Unfortunately this dress did not work at all. The lace overlay was strange and stiff and even worse it didn't fit my arms. I work out, but they're not that big! I think this dress is made for a more petite figure.

Ended up wearing something else entirely to a friends wedding.
Was utterly bizarre-- the blue sheath unnderneath was fine, but the overlay was enormous and stiff, and the sleeves were so tight with NO stretch whatsoever. It was like a giant shapeless sack-- super weird looking and VERY uncomfortable. Nope.

Not what it seems
Very restricting, and not at all flexible overlay. RTR was very helpful in getting my another dress for NYE, but this dress is not what I expected. The top overlay seemed like an over starched potato sack. It didn't lay right in either the XS or S, and kept catching on the blue slip.
