I have wanted to try renting for a loooong time, and this dress had my eye. I have a few weddings coming up and wanted to try out the process. RTR was so easy and fun! I received so many compliments and felt like a million bucks! This dress runs on the smaller size like previous reviewers stated, so size up. Had to squeeze my bum into it, but once it was on, it fit fabulous!

I was going on a yacht after party for the day after new years in Miami. This seemed appropriate. I rented the 0 & the 2 and to be honest either could of worked but since it was a sheath dress I went with the smaller size.

I love this dress. I had my eye on it for a little while and finally rented for a casual Brooklyn wedding. It went perfectly with my #seapunk silver hair (hahaha) and didn't need any accessories. If shifts are a good cut for you usually, it will fit great, but it's probably not as ideal for girls with curves.

This is my favorite RTR dress so far! I was looking for an edgy dress for a wedding and this one was perfect! Extremely comfortable, lightweight material and a very flattering fit. I received so many compliments all night. It does fit a bit tight in the hips, so I suggest going a size up. I would definitely rent this dress again and highly recommend it!

Tight around the bust if you are a D. Fits true to size every where else. Very flattering. And really fun to wear. Highly recommended!

I adore this shift! It is so comfortable and easy to wear. You can dress it up with heels or down with sandals, it wears well either way! It does run tighter in the hip/butt area. I had ordered a 6 and an 8 because of the previous reviews about the sizing and I was still able to wear the 6 with room to spare. I will most definitely rent this again!

I will title this dress 'What are the other options' as ALL my friends I sent the link to said that. HOWEVER I stuck with my instincts and knew it would be a flattering fit. I wore this to a black tie party at the MOMA and it was a huge hit. SO comfortable, extremely flattering- and very unique. Can not recommend this dress enough!!

Wore this to a fancy restaurant on the beach - could not have picked a more perfect dress. It was so light and comfortable, and could be dressed up with heels or dressed down with sandals!

LOVE this new Helmut Lang! Really great dress for a bunch of occasions. Could easily wear with tights and booties out at night, during the day with flat boots, or even with pumps. It's a comfortable fit because it is not fitted in the stomach but I would not recommend getting if you are larger than a C cup. Fitted in the bust and the hips, so if you are larger than a C cup size up! Also if you are worried about your hips I would recommend sizing up. I am usually a size 2, I wore the size 0 but would maybe try the size 2 next time!

I'm pretty short so I had to tape up the bottom tier of the dress. Other than that the dress fit perfectly and I got compliments all night long!

Fun dress!!! Be careful with the hips though---it runs narrow in the hips. I could have worn the 2, but my husband said the 0 looked better because the 2 was loose everywhere else. Order up, for sure! It was, generally, comfortable. And, I liked that I could wear this dress more "low key" than other dresses I've rented.

I wore this dress to a concert and had the best time! It runs quite small and it was tight in the hips. I was glad I ordered the size up because the material was wonderfully soft and I think the design is so out there!

I received this dress because my original dress was returned destroyed 2 days before my event. Justine was amazing and overnighted me this and I was hesitant until I put it on. It fit "my style" perfectly! I dressed it down with metallic flats but kept the jewelry, hair, and makeup formal. I felt like I could go anywhere and fit in and the dress was one of a kind. Photographed beautifully! I am so happy I went for it!

I wore this for my birthday cocktail party, and got lots of compliments. The 4 fit perfectly, and was flattering & comfortable. I think it could dress up or down--I felt great wearing it just for drinks with friends, but I definitely would also wear it out to a cocktail-type event.

I titled this review "A Well-Fitted Shift!" because, honestly, how hard is that to come by?! I thought for sure that this would look like a sack, but ended up so pleasantly surprised by the fit of this dress. I rented the 0 and the 2, and went with the 0. I didn't find much of a difference in the sizing in the bust and hips, but the waist was more defined in the 0. I was impressed that it kept the shape of a shift, but still gently hugged curves and nipped in a little at the waist, so that from the side angle it wasn't just a balloon of fabric. The sea horses are not metallic silver screen print as I was expecting, but has a mix of grey, white, and silver so that it has dimension yet still some subtlety.

This dress is really simple and can be dressed up or down. It's very comfortable and flattering. The sea horses are a bit less shiny than in the photos, which was a pro for me.

Rented this dress for an evening cocktail party and LOVED it. It was comfortable and stylish and I loved the different print. It's a fun take on the LBD. The dress held up well all day. Paired with the Badgley Mischka Jewelry Blue Ice Crystal Earrings.

Unfortunately, I didn't get to wear it out, so- no photos! Our night out turned into a fun night in with friends, so this amazing dress stayed packed away... I was so disappointed, because I fell in love with it the minute I put it on! Fit advice: definitely size up. I normally wear a 4/6, and only rented the 8 because it was the ONLY size left for my rental date. It worked out perfectly, and I would not have worn anything smaller (it fits a little tight across the chest and shoulders due to cut) Also - beware! Although it does not run too short (hit mid thigh on me- I'm 5'9", when you lift your arms it will raise significantly. I was so sad to return this dress unworn, and will definitely rent it again next summer.

I loved this dress! . Shoulders were slightly tight and uncomfortable at first, but once you get used to it it's not so bad! I would wear this dress constantly if I owned it! Paired with Kate Spade's Aqua Kate earrings and Belle Fleur Bangle which really popped against the black.

This dress is great and fun to wear. Fit is true to size. Like other reviewers said, it's not too tight and not too loose. Drapes nicely.

This is a great dress. I am sorry I do not have a picture. It fits in all the right places. Not too baggy. The material is beautiful. This is a fun and sophisticated dress with out trying to hard. I recommend it. I paired it with my own seahorse necklace and a pair of nude vamp jimmy choos. Perfect.

I live in shift dresses. This one was particularly tailored and comfortable to wear. It did seem as though the original zip had been replaced however, so it wasn't quite as flush against my back as I'd have liked. I wore it on a date with black tights and really high black ankle boots.

This fit wasn't perfect for my shape and pulled around the hips. Even so, I loved this dress and I would totally rent it again!

I am a bit pear shaped, so the hip area pulled just slightly. I tried the 4 but the top on the 4 seemed a bit baggy. I went with the 2 and wore Spanxs, which solved the problem of the slight pull. This dress was actually kind of short for even me at 5'2", but I don't really wear super short things at 50+y.o. What struck me was the dress was so beautifully cut and the design was so sophisticated, that it really was not like a regular shift dress. It was so much cuter than that. I wore this to a dinner party with the Helmut Lang tuxedo jacket and they paired together terrifically! I would rent this dress again for a future dinner for sure.

I wore this dress out with friends in the city and overall felt pretty good in it. The fit is a little tough, I ended up wearing the size 8- but it was tight in the chest so I went braless (which was not so bad). I tried on the 10 and the neckline felt too big- also the length was a little long in that size. The dress looked stunning from the front, the only real issue I had with the dress (and this is why I am not giving it 5 stars) is that in both the size 8 and 10 the zipper puckered in the back. It wasn't terrible enough for me to not wear it, but I was a bit self-conscious about it while out.

I ordered this in a 4 and 6. The 4 fit perfectly! I As other reviewers have mentioned, you can definitely dress this up w/ heels in jewelry or dress it down with sandals.

Ordered this dress for my 24th birthday party along with a few others. I didn't end up wearing this dress (I had more accessories picked out for the other one) but I felt like this dress was the most "me" actually. It's a good length, not fitted, but nicely tailored.. The shoulder area is slightly restrictive, as in the entire dress will raise up if you lift your arms above your head. Otherwise I had no complaints.

I adored this dress when I came across it on the RTR site. I am a big fan of Helmut Lang and I'm a sucker for shift dresses so I was immediately drawn to this one. I gravitate to minimal styles with a bit of an edge and this fit the bill. I love the silver pattern but I will admit that I was a bit underwhelmed by the fabric of the dress in person. I thought the black seemed somewhat faded. The length of the dress was longer than I expected and the sleeves felt oversized, which overall made me feel swallowed by the dress. As much as it pains me to say it, I thought this dress looked better on the hanger.

Didn't end up wearing because it was tight through the bust, but no where else, so it shifted the dress wrong. Cute dress. Appears well made.

This dress is cute but nothing WOW, I don't think I would rent it again.

This dress is not as cool and laid-back as it looks on the model. Would not recommend for busty hourglass shape. If you have curves, it hugs the butt- not in an unflattering way- but it throws off the cut of the dress creating either extra fabric by the tummy, or forcing you to constantly pull it down- far too much maintenance for me. That said, still think the pattern rocks and has even more contrast between the silver and black in person.

Didn't fit very well

Very cute, but it came super wrinkled and I didn't have time to steam it so I couldn't wear it. RTR was awesome though and gave me credit.

too tight on the bust and hit me at a weird spot, in between midthigh and knee, so that i looked dowdy. it's a shame because i so wanted to love this dress.

This dress has a linen look and texture. The seahorses are a true metallic silver. The color of the dress is a faded black - one that makes the dress appear as though it has been laundered one too many times. I like shift dresses, am an apple shape with long legs/arms. I am usually between an 8/10 and the 10 was perfect for a nice straight fit, not too tight, but tight enough it was not tent like. I did not wear this dress as I felt the color made the dress appear casual - better suited for flat gladiator sandals and a day of shopping or a casual afternoon party, but nothing requiring anything dressier than this. I would not rent this dress again.
