I love Helmut Lang due to the edgy styles, clean lines, and quality clothing. This is no exception, and this was super comfortable as well. The sheer fabric at the bottom of the skirt was adorable. This looks like a two piece set but it's almost like wearing a shift. The texture and complement of the different fabrics is awesome. I absolutely loved the way it felt and moved,...you'll enjoy wearing this.

I wore this for the annual holiday party we host and got lots of compliments. I liked how the sheer overlay was longer than the lining. It's one piece (based on the other reviews, I thought it might be a skirt & top) and drapes really nicely. You can wear a normal bra, but a racer back will work best. Friends said the zipper down the back was sexy. I could have gone without the spanx, but opted to wear them so I could relax, and because I was racing around hostessing. The bangle set that I got as "mystery bling" was probably my favorite part of the outfit. I would wear this dress again.

Runs true to size

Edgy and comfortable just about sums it up! I loved the asymmetrical hem, the neckline and that I was able to wear any old bra with it! I'm 5'6" and the longer side of the skirt hit right at my knee. Beautiful, great experience, will definitely be renting again.

Perfect hip dress for my 40th birthday party. Had to wear spanx underneath for post partum tummy, but it worked. Black material looked like silk online but is more of an upholstery thick material, but again, it worked. Ordered size 8 (my normal size) and couldn't order size up as free backup because they don't make it in a 10. I took a chance, and am glad I did. I love RTR's quick work -- had a chance to order this dress one and a half days before my event, and received it on time. Thanks, RTR!

LOVE this edgy style! It's meant to be a bit loose but it actually is a bit narrow in the hips. The fabric is great and makes the dress interesting! This hit me right above the knee so if you are short it may be a bit too long. Such a unique party dress!

Loved this Helmut Lang dress - -it's my first time wearing the designer and you can really feel the quality of the fabric and cut. It's a really cool print - got tons of compliments. It does run tight in the hips so keep that in mind when ordering - I would size up for your second size. Definitely recommend!

I ordered this and another dress for a cocktail party/benefit for our local hospital and found this to be the right choice as it was edgy, but covered me where the other one didn't. It was so comfortable - didn't have to suck in the stomach to cruise the buffet! I loved how the skirt part underneath was shorter than the sheer overlay - sexy, but not over-the-top. My daughter said it didn't show my shape, but since it wasn't that kind of party, I felt perfectly dressed. The earrings gave it that rock-and-roll look without trying to pass for 20-something. Got a lot of compliments! I can't wait to order items again with Rent the Runway...oh, I also told my friends, when they asked, all about my "find" and how it all works. I have rented before and hit a home run with that outfit as well. Never rented accessories, but certainly will again.

The fit was perfect except for the length. I was expecting it to be a little shorter. I tried to pin it up with dress tape but it kept coming undone all night. None the less, I received multiple complements on the gorgeous dress.

Despite other reviewers experiences, I found it to be true to size. It fit nicely in the chest and wasn't snug in the hips on me. However, I would say I have a straight frame. The silk fabric is pretty and is nicely off-set by the linen and satin borders. Very comfortable and the length was sexy.

I love a dress that allows me to wear normal undergarments, and this fit the bill while still looking totally chic and different. I am curvy, so it was a little tighter on the hips than I would have liked, but otherwise it was great! I would love to own this dress.

This dress ran a little longer than I expected and ran a little larger than expected. It was really beautiful and I changed out of my formal dress into this one for the after-party just to get use out of it. I received lots of compliments.

Size was basically true. However, it was a bit long in the waist so if you are on the shorter side as I am, it isn't going to have the totally glamorous look we are all hoping for.

I loved this dress and it was perfect for a girls' night out. It is longer as most of the other reviews mentioned, but it looked great with really strappy black wedges. I wish I had gotten the 0 as it fit a little bigger on me than expected. Great material and looks very expensive.

I wore this to my sister's rehearsal dinner and it was so comfortable! It hit at my knees which is a little on the long side for me but with some high heels, it was great. It hugs in all the right places and moves nicely.

Cute dress, but the fabric has no stretch to it so, while I am in between a 4 and a 6 right now, I wore the 6 because I am curvy and have a small tummy/mama's pouch. Got a few compliments. Its a cool, modern looking silhouette, and the sheer overlay is fun without being too revealing. All in all, not as flattering as I'd hoped. Also, the size 4 I received had a tear in the seam on the slip underneath the sheer overlay, which caused an odd looking bump in the back. It took a little while to figure out what was causing that bump. Good thing I also ordered the 6 (and it fit a little better anyway).

Fit is loose, I wore with black booties and a leather jacket.

I wore this for an important work event and then date that same night. I had RtR credit I had to use up. I ordered the 2 and 4. The 4 was more comfortable but too big; it is a somewhat straight/shapeless dress. The 2 felt slightly restrictive but looked much better. One note, be careful when getting up from sitting down as the black inner slip can ride up and you won't realize your butt is hanging out exposed through the sheer layer! 3 starts for the dress itself but 4 because it looks and fit exactly as described and advertised.

The dress runs pretty true to size but it is a little snug in the hips. I have larger hips though and still didn't have to size up. I'm also tall and it still hit about mid thigh. I wore it to a fashion show and it was perfect! I love how it is edgy but extremely easy to wear. The loose fit made it very comfortable!

The dress sizing was a bit difficult, the 2 fit everywhere but was a bit tight in the bust, the 4 was a little too loose and long. So I went with the 2, and got tons or compliments at a dinner party during Art Basel Miami Beach. Overall it was a unique dress, great for this event.

I didn't wind up wearing the dress, since I didn't think it was as flattering on me as another I had. It was much longer on me than the model (I'm 5'2")--hit me at the knee. The torso was also too long for me, so the waist hit much too low. The print was pretty, so I would recommend it if you're taller!

I rented this dress for a dinner party and didn't end up wearing it. First, the dress is not the length pictured. Mine fell a bit below the knee, a far cry from the mini length pictured on the model. The dress also ran very large and was bunchy in the waist. It seems like it was made with too much fabric and the fit was very unflattering. It looked very silly on and I am not sure if going 2 sizes down would have even helped. This one went back without my even wearing it.
