The dress made it on time, fit and dealing with RTR was easy.
Loved the dress, lots of compliments. You DO need spanx. I would rent it again.

Your customer service was fabulous! Such an easy drop off and return. Thank you for your help!
I wore the dress to a Great Gatsby Christmas Party and it was a hit. The dress was comfortable, easy to wear and looked great with a Spanx shaper underneath. I added a sleeveless faux fur vest, a headband and tons of vintage jewelry.

Awesome dress! Wanted to steal it!
I love this kind of vintage-y dress and I really love all the stuff by Gryphon NY. I wish their clothes were more accessible. It fit me perfectly and was very comfortable as well!

I wore this for my school's prom, it gave off awesome retro vibes.
It fit very nicely. Difficult to find underthings as the fabric is so sheer, other than that, great dress!

Everyone who saw me in this dress gagged on the eleganza!
I paired it with a 20's style black fur jacket and velvet black pumps. Everyone loved it and said I looked like I had just stepped out of the Great Gatsby era! I would totally rent this one again!

I got sooooooo many compliments on the dress and it made me feel truly beautiful.
I wore this dress to a roaring 20s murder mystery party. This was the first dress I rented from renttherunway.com so I was a little nervous about it. Everything went smoothly! I was worried the color might clash with my skintone because I'm extremely pale but it looked really great! I got a small thinking I would fit into that but decided to get a backup in xs. The xs ended up fitting better.

Lovely, vintage-inspired gown; perfect for a special occasion!
I rented this gown for a wedding that was Great Gatsby themed. It was PERFECT and I received nothing but compliments on it the whole night. A few notes on the color and fit, as there seem to be some discrepancies in the picture and/or reviews. The color, in my opinion, could best be described as a neutral nude/buff...kind of like the color of medium toned liquid foundation. I am very pale (paler than the model probably), and the color did not wash me out. Regarding the size, I would NOT recommend this dress for taller ladies, unless you were looking for a very vintage/1920s look. I ordered and wore the SL and it came to about my ankles (I'm 5'8" and wore 3.5" heels). Overall, the look was perfect for the event, and I'm very satisified with the whole RTR experience.

The dress was so elegant, and while I wanted to get something vintage originally, I didn't have the time--renttherunway saved me from all stress, I HIGHLY recommend using them for any occasion! By the way, it was a big hit with my circle of friends, Ferrari (who I work for, and why I was at the Event) as well as the SF Opera Ball attendees. I want to own this dress!
Firstly, I was beyond impressed with the impeccable customer service that renttherunway gave me, the entire process from start to finish went swimmingly! I needed a gown within a 4 day time period of a big formal event I was to attend, and it ended up being perfect! This gorgeous dress is true to size--I actually fit the small dress better than the medium I ended up wearing (it looked better!)--but since you cannot really get away with wearing ANYTHING underneath it (it's one layer of nude colored silk, that, is all)--I felt more comfortable at an opening Gala for the San Francisco Opera with a looser fitting dress...just a heads up on the undergarment part.

The bride told me I looked better than her.
I'm a 36D and it was a little snug in the chest, but other than that it was great. I would recommend a slip as it was very thin and slightly see through.

The dress fit the occassion PERFECTLY!!!!
I wore this dress to a "Roaring Twenties" themed event. Even though the dress was a good fit (I should have rented ML, but it wasn't available), there is no lining in it! Unless you have the body of a goddess, YOU WILL NEED SPANX! I definitely wore some spanx with this dress and I am so glad that I did. The length is perfect and the draping is beautiful (even though it was a little difficult to figure out which way the draping fell when putting it on). Everyone loved this dress!

I wore this dress to my Junior Ring dance.
This dress was beautiful, but there were some fit issues. Although it fit like a glove through the torso, it was far too long. I wore 6 inch heels and the dress still dragged on the ground. Also, the fabric was much thinner than I expected. I would definitely recommend a slip. Overall, I thought this dress was lovely, but I would be wary if you're shorter.

A fun first RTR experience
This was my first RTR experience, and started out kind of scary. It was immediately clear that the SL was too short for me. I put it on the LL and walked out of my room for feedback from the girls... crickets. It was just all weird and drapey, the drape was falling so low you could see the dress underneath. With some work with pins we got it looking presentable by pulling the drape up higher at the shoulders, and taking in the sides. I got out a needle and thread to sew how we had pinned it, and realized that the stitching holding the drape in place was coming out, which contributed to the strange effect. I fixed the missing stitches and used a brooch to hold in more of the drapes. I also had to sew up the zipper which also had some stitching coming out. In the end it was great for the 20's themed event, and easy to wear. At 5'10", the LL was the perfect length for me to wear flats. I wore the suggested spanx.

Perfect for the theme & perfectly comfortable
I rented this dress as I was looking for a "period piece" for a 1914-themed formal dinner. It's a beautiful style and material and it's extremely comfortable, as it's perfectly figure hugging and mercifully did not wrinkle easily. I give it full marks as the dress is great, and I received innumerable compliments, but there were a few caveats (easily fixed): as it was a winter evening, the material had a lot of static cling and I needed to use anti-static spray to be able to wear it; I rented LL as LR was not available for the date I needed and found it a bit long - depending on your intended style & footwear, you may want to choose the regular length if you are not at least 5'9''/5'10''; the belt that comes with it - and which is absolutely necessary as an accessory to achieve the full effect - was fairly worn out and frizzing at the seams. The latter was not noticeable when worn, unless scrutinized from up-close, but made me feel a little less glamorous… Still, I would rent this again.

This elegant dress made me feel beautiful!
This dress made me feel beautiful! I got compliments all night long. However, it is very sheer! You need the right undergarments to wear this dress. The material does not have stretch. It fit me like a glove. The length was perfect.

Perfect for a Roaring 20's night!
I wore this dress to a roaring 20's (Boardwalk Empire theme) NYE party and it was perfect! Captured the era perfectly, was super flattering, and made me feel glamorous. It is quite fitted and slinky, I wore spanx to protect in that area... and would recommend no matter your body type because of the material, which is very sheer. But overall the gown is beautiful! My first, and definitely not my last experience with RTR

Designed for the hour glass figure
Dress is soft, airy and comfortable. It was very true to size. I wore low heels and the length was fine. I felt phenomenal in this dress. I was sad to send it back in the mail. It seemed that the designer had the hour glass figure in mind when designing this dress.

Multiple random wedding guests stopping me to tell me, "You look absolutely stunning."
Silk chiffon hugs your body, whatever shape it is. I ordered the MR and the SL as my backup size. I am 6'0", 145lbs, broad shoulders, no boobs, narrow hips, and was a bit worried based on other self-described curvy reviewers describing this as a perfect dress for them. Apparently this dress is made of magic, because it fit like it was made just for me. The SL was in much better shape than the MR and fit a bit more snugly (I ended up unzipping the top part under the drape and going sans bra -- it was the most comfortable outfit I have ever worn to a wedding) -- so the SL won the race to the wedding. Danced for hours, had to smack hands that kept drifting to my silky chiffon-draped bottom... I wore the dress with black pumps, feather earrings, and a simple black leather cord necklace and bracelet combo, paired with a black Brooks Brothers blazer for when it cooled off later that night. I couldn't be happier, and look forward to my next chance to rent the runway.

better than expected
I was preoccupied by the nude tone, fearing it would wash me out or be too light. The color was a perfect blush nude, so no worries there. I thought it may be too plain, but the barrage of compliments I got suggested otherwise. Even though the small fit with plenty of room, I wore the medium bc the dress was just in better shape overall and hung better over my hips (I was having some static cling problems). This did cause some looseness around the armholes/bust, but fashion tape held that in place over my bra. Lastly, I'm glad I read these reviews, bc a slip is KEY. Actually, just wear a nude bra and those spanx shorts that go to your knee, bc a dress slip made a visible line across my thighs. Overall, I think people thought more highly of this dress on me than I did, so I'm very pleased.

elogant and sophisticated
I rented this for a ball and had a lot of compliments. The regular was fine but I wanted it a little longer so i wore the long version. Beware that there is NO LINING so be prepared to get a long slip. I wore spanx underneath too and a strapless bra. The dress is forgiving if you have a larger bust and "womanly" hips, too. Wore it with antiqued silver cuff, ring, and dainty earrings and black shoes.

Beautiful, but very long
When I received the dress, I realized that the picture shown here is a pale representation: it looks much better. It was flatering and I received numerous compliments from strangers (which I consider to be a genuine barometer). Things to watch for: - I'm 5'2 and even with platform heels, the dress was floor length (even a bit too long) - The fabric is very thin and will probably not cover any imperfections from the back (such as cellulite) if it's tight - Wear with nude shoes to accentuate height

Great for a "Gatsby" theme party w/ lots of pearls, gloves, etc. Loved it!
pretty light silk fabric definitely required the right foundations. Also, color can be tricky if you have fair skin.

Gatsby Gorgeous!
I rented this for a 20's party and, with the right accessories, it lived up to its name! The dress is so glamorous - it stood out in a sea of short flapper dresses - but because the silk fabric is so comfortable and lightweight, it's not too fussy or fancy for being a long dress! I usually have trouble with dresses being too long since I'm only 5'3", but even with my relatively low heels it was just the right length. I was worried it might be to small in the chest (I'm a DDD) it was a perfect fit. Busty girls in search of a 20's dress - this is the one! However, because the dress is silk, you can see EVERY line, bump, and bulge from the waist down (the top draping provides a second layer). I have Spanx shorts that stop mid-thigh, but you could see where they stopped through the dress. I ended up having to buy a "slip" - it was sort of a full-body piece that had a skirt bottom. The skirt-style line was less noticeable, but not invisible. You might be able to avoid lines with some high-waist tights. My only other complaint is that the straps were too long (probably because of my height/short torso). I was able to improvise and shorten them by folding them over and clipping them with some vintage sweater clips I have, but getting the fabric on the sleeve side to stay in the clip was NOT easy. If you're petite, look into ways to temporarily shorten sleeves before you rent this one.

Beautiful 1930's style dress, but unlined, so requires shape wear or a slip.
I wore this dress to a 1930's themed event and it was perfect. I received many compliments on the dress. The color is beautiful. I needed shape wear since the dress was unlined and fashion tape to secure the top. It runs true to size.

The dress was beautiful and fit well. The belt is a disaster, I suggest making other plans for a belt. I ordered two sizes and the belt looked unfinished and was gathering along the long edges. You'd probably be better off grabbing a double sided ribbon to use instead.

Was the belle of the ball!
Wore this to a 1920's themed office party and got compliments all night long, including from people whom I had never seen before. In person it looked a little dingier than in the RTR pics, but it was still gorgeous. Also, word to the wise, the sash tying was a non-trivial task. Keep some reference images in front of you, and be prepared to iron the sash out before wearing. Would rent this again without a doubt.

What I liked about it is it was different. It was easy to wear - not fussy which was great since I had to work. It was long on me even in heals, so if you are under 5'5", it will touch the ground. It is pretty sheer so wear nude colors underneath.
