I tried on the dress the night before the event and ended up wearing it to bed. I didn't want to risk being late to work the next morning trying to button all those buttons in the back. Nevertheless, the dress fit my petite frame really well. I paired it with a long fur vest and the velvet material kept me warm through the night of Christmas Eve.

I loved this dress so much I'm trying to find it online to buy it now. It's heavier than you'd expect and really flattering even on someone as pear shaped as me. I wore it to a Broadway show one night and felt good in it. You might not want to wear this if you live alone, I would have never gotten out of it without help! The whole back is a line of buttons. I was a size 10 here but I wore this dress in a size 12.

Size up if you have a big bust! I’m 5’1” 32DD and the 2 was very tight in the chest. I made it work but a 4 would’ve been more comfortable.

Rented for a rainy fall wedding on top of a mountain. It was perfect for the weather with tights underneath. It was a little loose in the chest for me, but I think a size down would have been too short.

Lent this to one of my girls for NYE. She's got a slim athletic build and shes typically a size 2 but the 4 fit great.

This dress is exactly the same style of another Free People dress I ended up renting the same week but this is my favorite of the two. The velvet really makes this dress more wearable as it does not wrinkle. The floral pattern is subdued and pretty. Other renters note the buttons--yes there are tiny buttons up the back of this dress but it is not necessary to unbutton all of them to get this dress on as it does have a hidden zipper. The bust is small so I didn't wear a bra. If you have a more average or larger sized bust, definitely size up. The shape of this dress is fantastic and I received compliments all night--if I ever see this for sale, I will definitely purchase it and add to my regular closet. LOVE!

Free People typically runs large, this dress fit perfectly and was incredibly comfortable and easy to wear. The fabric was super soft, bell sleeves were adorable and fun, cut of the dress was very flattering in all the right places. Great dress for a cooler night, can easily be dressed up or down!! Would definitely consider renting again!!

Adore this dress, one of my first rentals and it fits perfectly. A little on the short side but with stockings it worked perfectly. The buttons down the back are my favorite part but the velvet patterned material is also gorgeous.

Trust the reviews on this being small. They didn't have a 12 so I went with my normal size 10. My thoughts were that free people typically runs big so the 10 should fit like a 12. Nope! It was snug. But no one could tell. I got a ton of compliments and it was very flattering! I don't recommend wearing to dinner as it's a bit uncomfortable around the waist/rib cage. But if you're getting this for a party or a night out where you'll be standing, definitely! I'll definitely rent again in the bigger size.

I wore it for a Friday work day. It's casual and the print is very cute. I am normally a size 4 but sized up after reading the comments and 6 was perfect. The buttoning of the back is a bit annoying.

I'm a huge fan of Free People and actually own lots of FP dresses and if I found this in stores, I would have bought it! I'm pear shaped and usually a true 6 in most dresses. This fit true to size but because of my big butt, it was a little short and flared in the behind.

Conservative but sexy. Black velvet, white with subtle orange and green flowers slightly above knee height for a petite person. A-line with comfortable flare sleeves. Mock turtle neck top. Many tedious buttons up the back. Due to Zipper up the side you can avoid buttoning/unbuttoning all of them. Just unbutton enough to slip over head. Easy enough to unbotton a few without assistance but definitely needed assistance buttoning the last few around mock turtleneck to get on. I sized up to a 6. It fit comfortably. I loved the dress and look forward to wearing again this fall

Very flattering fit! I liked that it was tight at the top and then flared out . If you have a larger chest you may want to size up though due to the fitted top part. For work, I paired with black tights because otherwise I felt it would have been too short in the back. You totally could wear this for a night out or casual event! Also on the back there are buttons that are super cute but you most likely will need help with closing the ones at the top of the back. Overall really loved this dress and felt like the material was nice quality. Definitely would rent again as you can truly dress it up or down!

Fit well and I loved the velvet look, but the buttons on the back are a pain. Even buttoning half of them before donning and using the zipper still took 10 mins to get dressed. I asked my bf for help but I guess he didn't have the dexterity needed. Cute though, and good length for petites.

This definitely runs small. I'm usually a 6 in free people, but could have gone for the 8. It still fit, but was super snug around the waist line. The waist line is also very high, so very tight in the rib cage. Did get itchy around the neck after wearing all day. Love the pattern.

The high neck and full skirt were unflattering on me. I'm on the curvy/shorter side, so maybe someone taller/slimmer (as pictured on the model), because it looked more like a funeral dress than a date night dress on me. Also it ran very small--I'm a 4/6 s/m and ordered a 6 in this, but the chest was so tight I was afraid I'd rip it.

Small. Like so small. With an odd gathering at the chest. It's not actually fitted at the waist, so that's not what you have to worry about. It's more about chest and shoulders, and I could not fit this thing over my shoulders. Once I wiggled it on, I needed about three extra inches around my chest to even have a dream of buttoning it. But oh, it does not end there, friends. I got stuck in it. Full on, I cannot contort my shoulders out of this thing they will need to bury me in this godforsaken dress please send help. It took five minutes. I got it off and sent it directly to hell...er...the FedEx drop box. Two stars because the fabric was cute.

I ordered this dress in my usual Free People size, but it didn't fit in the chest at all. It has a ruching detail that makes it difficult to fit the dress properly. Because it didn't fit right in the chest, the waist also hit inches above my natural waist. Just a very strange fit overall.

I ordered a size above my own because of the reviews. The dress is so small I couldn't even wear it.

I don't know how to describe this nightmare of a dress. If your bust is over five inches larger than your natural waist, this sucker is NOT going to go on over your head. If your hips are over four inches larger than your natural waist, it is NOT going over your bum. Unfortunately, I am both. After wriggling and writhing into this dress, I realized that it has no stretch, a strange gathering in the bust, and no easy way to close. Would not recommend for any hourglass gals.
