A thicker material which gives amazing structure but may be a bit warm. I personally love a thicker material.

Ordered this as my backup dress for a black tie wedding. I loved the back of it so much and wanted to still wear it so I changed into it for the after party.

Amazing dress!! Fits like a glove and is still comfortable and stretchy. I felt like a movie star and utter glam in this gown. Would def rent again.

This dress was a wonderful find! The back is beautiful and makes your butt look great! I got lots of compliments, from my husband especially. I am large busted which can sometimes be a problem, but everything fit just fine. This is a great choice for a fancy event!

The material was very nice. I have broad shoulders and probably would have gone up to an 8l for that. I'm solidly a 4 or 6 but with the open back this was beautiful. It fit like a glove and the open back was a surprise for most. I rented this to officiate a friend'a winter wedding and it was just the look I wanted. It complimented the bridesmaids glitzy dresses with the open back.

Loved the sleeves on this dress. Petite was the perfect length for 6'5 with heels.

I am seriously considering buying this dress based on how amazing the quality and fit were. The fabric is sturdy, good quality, yet has a good stretch to it that hugs the body in all the right ways. I'm 5'5 and 128 lbs, and the 4L fit perfect. I am a 32D and did not wear any kind of bra or support - the dress held it all in! Length was also perfect - I wore with 4inch heels and it just barely touched the ground. Was super comfortable and I got so many compliments! You cannot go wrong with this dress. I could have worn the 6L but it slightly gaped in the armpits/back. The 4 was a tad tight but I never felt constricted or uncomfortable. This fabric is supposed to be tight for a reason. Highly recommend!

I rented this dress for a black tie optional wedding because I wasn't sure how many guests would do full length since it was "optional." I liked that it was still formal and sophisticated but playful with the open back. The fabric was very thick and flattering, but I did follow the suggestions of other reviews and sized up. I'm usually a 4/6 so I ordered a 6 & 8. The 8 fit like a glove so didn't even try on the 6. Would definitely recommend and rent this again!

I love Elizabeth and James and this dress proved why. I always size up one size for this designed but the fit is perfection for me. I'm wearing 4 inch heels and only the back touched the ground, designed to have the front a little shorter so you don't step on it. I got tons of compliments and easy to move and use the bathroom!

Absolutely beautiful and elegant dress! It compliments your body without revealing much! If you want to make an impression this is the dress. Can't believe it wasn't my first choice but a back up style.

As usual, this Elizabeth & James ran small and a tad short. Typically I wear a 0 or 2 but I felt most comfortable in the 4. The dress was pretty short for me (I'm 5'6") and I felt slightly self conscious but got over it! Great material and quality. And so flattering!

I absolutely loved everything about this dress. I wore it to an Art Gala and being that I had clients in attendance, I didn't want anything too "Sexy." This dress definitely fit the bill: Elegant, classy but with the exposed back, so freaking sexy and I received so many compliments. I paired the dress with chunky turquoise earings and mustard yellow satin pumps. I usually wear a size 6 but sized up to an 8L. I have a smaller chest but a big booty - this dress definitely accentuated my small waist and flaunted my curvy bum. Also, I have larger arms and the sleeves were still roomy. Even though I am only 5'7", I wore the longer size and with 4" heels, it was perfect. The dress barely dusted the floor and created a beautiful tiny train in the back. The only con I have is that the clasp in back kept coming undone. This could be due to the fact that I went braless and am relatively small chested. But other than that, this dress is stunning and I would definitely recommend!

I received so many compliments on this dress! I felt absolutely beautiful and the back is amazing (I wish I had a good picture of it!). I am 5'7" and the dress barely came off the floor. I wore low heels, so it was fine, but I typically like my dresses hitting the floor. I still loved it though! Highly recommend.

Fit really well and the fabric is forgiving--could be worn without a bra although I did feel it fit better with a stick on one. The back is also cut juuuust high enough that you can still wear spanx under it. I️ felt very elegant and received many compliments. Another RTR success!

I am 5'5" and wear a size 2 in most dresses. I rented the 2R and 4P because I have short legs and most dresses are long on me. Both sizes worked perfectly for fit and length. The dress is very fitted but the fabric is thick and lined so it holds you in. The dress is amazing and easy to move in. I would rent this again for future events.

I loved wearing this dress - it was comfortable, but still looked super nice. I wore it to a family wedding and would definitely wear it again if a heartbeat. The fabric has enough support to conceal any problem areas. I felt gorgeous all night long.

It fit very true to size. I didn't need a bra or anything else since the fabric is very thick. With heels it was the perfect length on me, and I'm 5'8. I wore it with some statement earrings, a bracelet, and rose gold shoes, but it would also look great with a bold necklace!

This dress was incredible. The open back detail felt sexy, but not overly so. The fabric has some stretch, but also a lot of structure. I felt held in but not squished. One of the best dresses I have ever worn.

Absolutely in LOVE with this dress!! It was elegant and understated while still being unique. I'm always a size 4L but the 6L fit me like a glove- I couldn't have been happier with the fit. I wore 3.5 inch heels and the length was also perfect. I had no issues with gapping in the back- my only complaint (which wasn't even that big of a deal) was that the top hook often came undone.

Subtle, sophisticated... all the buzz words. And it was perfect for a charity gala. Highly recommend.

I wore this for our country clubs anniversary dinner. I was short in time ordering because we didn't decide to go until the last minute, so a size 6 was the only size available. I am usually a 4 so I wasn't sure how this would fit, but the 6L was absolutely perfect. It wasn't exceptionally long, but I was planning to wear flats anyway. I got a ton of compliments and would absolutely wear this gown again.

The dress runs small for sure but there is some stretch so I was able to fit into the 8L but it was tight and not terribly comfortable. The 10L was not available and the 10R was simply too short. It is a very classy dress that worked really well for a black tie event.

This dress was really good for an outdoor wedding. The fabric is heavy but not so much that you get hot. The fabric has a bit of a stretch to it. However, I had to wear the 6L since the 4L was a little too short and the hip area was too tight. I'm normally a size 4 but even the 6 was a little tight in the hips so I recommend that if you have an hourglass/bigger hips that you go up a size. Overall, I recommend this dress for a formal event. You will get compliments all night.

Pros: -thick fabric -beautiful shape -very comfortable - beautiful shape Cons: -does run small: for girls like me who are a bit hippy, you will likely need to size up. I found that the 4R fit perfectly in the top but was a bit tighter than I was comfortable with in the hips. I chose to size up to a 6R, which was perfect in the hips. but a bit looser in the top. If I'd had a padded bra it would have been perfect, but I didn't, so it was a bit big and didn't "hold me in" as nicely. Luckily, I'm very flat chested, so it wasn't that big of a deal! --train was longer than I expected, so it got a bit wet in the rain!

Because of the open back I didn't wear a bra. The material of the dress was thick enough so I didn't have to. Fabulous dress.

This dress is just STUNNING. It's simple and elegant and can be jazzed up with statement jewerly. I received compliments all night long. The material is thick and stretchy.. Super flattering! I think it runs true to size.. It's just more of a fitted dress.

I am 5'6", 110 lbs and usually a size 0. I followed the advice of other reviewers and got the 2R and it fit perfectly. I did not want to give this dress back!! Will definitely rent it again for other formal occasions.

This dress is SUCH a show stopper. It's very simple, but so elegant and beautifully designed and fits like a dream. I'm a pretty standard size 6/small, and the 4L and 6L both fit well. I went with the 4L because it was a little more snug, helped the back fit better, and had less bunching and extra fabric around my waist. I would (like others) recommend going down a size if you want a snug fit! It's a lovely navy color. I wore it with a statement necklace and it looked great! The train was a bit of a nuisance, but it's small and the whole back really makes the dress. RENT THIS! You won't regret it!

A little long and used some fashion tape on the sides and back of the dress so that I could move more freely throughout the night. It is a beautiful dress!

After reading pretty much every review available about this dress, I passed up the size 4 that I wear in most dresses and ordered a 6R and 8R... good choice! The 4 would not have been flattering at all but the 6 was like a glove. I didn't even try the 8 because I loved the fit of the 6. It fits close to the body so I would definitely recommend sizing up from your normal if you aren't sure. As far as the backless/braless issue goes- I'm a 34D and it is VERY rare that I go anywhere without a bra, that being said, I had zero issues! I ended up using breast petals (just in case) but due to the thickness of the dress I really don't think they were necessary. Length - I am about 5'7" and went back and forth between the regular length & the long but since I wasn't planning on wearing very tall heels and I didn't want it dragging the ground all night, I went with regular. It was a tad bit shorter than I would have liked but it didn't look bad. My heels were about 2 inches so if I could have found something lower, it probably would have been perfect. I think the long might have actually been too long and I would have fussed with it a lot more. The only con I can think of had to do with the hanging straps. They are pretty thick and are attached near the waist- normally I would cut these out of my own dresses but you don't really have that option with a rental. I ended up trying to gently stuff them down the sides near my hips but you could still kind of see the lines from them. Just a heads up! Also, I had no problem with the hooks coming undone like some other reviewers mentioned. Overall, I LOVED it and was sad to put it back in the mail. Thanks RTR!!

Fits like a glove, so I would err a size larger. I am 5'3" 125lb and the 4 was skin tight. Looked good, but the 6 fit just as well (it's meant to figure hug) with a bit more breathing room. The length was perfect for me with 3-4 in heels. The dress is very high quality and the open back was sexy enough, without shocking any conservatives in the room. Felt confident all night. RTR Nailed it!

I thought I ordered an 8L and actually received a 6L. I was really worried the 6L would be too small but it fit perfectly! The cut out was a bit tight, but it was a constant reminder to keep great posture all night.

I received many compliments, my husband wants me to keep it. It is very classy with the color, high neck and sleeves but has a body skimming silhouette and open back so it's still sexy. The fabric has some stretch which made it wearable all night. The fabric is also thick so it smoothed things out nicely. One of the hook and eye closures at the neck came undone a few times while while dancing, but the other two kept it together. Im 5'9 and I wore 4 inch heels and the long length was perfect. Loved the dress and would wear again!

This dress was amazing! It does run slightly small and I wish I could've worn a size up to be more comfortable, but there was an issue with it getting returned by a previous user. My true size looked great, it was just more snug than I would've liked. The fabric is very nice and structured so I didn't have to wear a bra and it smoothed out any areas I was insecure about. I wore 3 in heels and the length was perfect.
