The dress does run small. I got a size 6 and I'm glad I got a back up size 8 or I wouldn't have been able to wear it. It fits tight in the stomach section.

I rented this for my freshman homecoming. Was very flattering and fitting on my wait. It is a simple dress yet super cute and unique. The color is not a normal blue it's super unique and fashionable. Pair with a necklace and it is perfect. I was afraid it wouldn't fit me as a small growing kid but the sizes are true to size.

I rented for my daughter's school promotion ceremony. It fit her well and was the "younger" style she was looking for. Definitely runs small so size up 1-2 sizes! She paired with Doc Martens since dress shoes are not her look.

This dress felt so nice! It was well constructed but not too hot for a summer wedding. Everyone says this and they mean it - SIZE UP! I wish I had got the 10 with 12 as a back-up size instead of an 8 with 10 as the back-up size. The dress isn't too tight elsewhere, but with the cutouts if it's even a little snug you might squeeze out a bit more than desired.

I rented this for my daughter's 6th grade graduation. She really loved it and received many compliments from her classmates and other parents.

This dress was my backup dress when I ordered it but I LOVED how it looked on me! I have always been a fan of skater-style dresses and the cuts in the sides give it just enough “sexy” factor to show off your figure without being too much. My date had to help me zip up the back as it was a tad too tight for me to get on my own but I could breathe in it and felt very comfortable wearing the dress for 6 hours. Wore it for an outdoor spring wedding, and danced all night in it afterwards. The material is thick and dark and held up well with a light sprinkle during the ceremony. I did not wear a bra with this dress, but easily could have.

I normally wear 6/8. After reading the reviews I decided to order the 8 and 10 as a backup. I'm glad I did, the 10 was perfect. I'm about 5'9 (without heels) - I was slightly worried about it being too short but the length was good. It was on the shorter side, but I didn't have any issues with it being too short. If you're taller, just something to consider! Overall 10 out of 10 on this one. I'll be back! :)

As a lot of reviewers have noted, it's a little tight around the rib cage. It wasn't the most comfortable dress I've ever worn, but I loved it so much I powered through. It's pretty short, but I wore bike shorts underneath so it wasn't an issue. I also wore an adhesive bra, but you could just as easily use fashion tape to adhere bra cups to the inside (this would probably not work if I had actual boobs). I received several compliments and felt great in it (albeit slightly compressed). I recommend this dress, but size up if available!

I'm 5'10" so the dress was a little short and it runs small--I had used a size 0 in this brand before but I would have preferred a size 2 on this style. Overall it was fine and I loved the color/style/material

Runs small and the hem was wonky BUT I wore it anyway! I loved the color and the way the dress flared out. The material is thick and a bra was not needed. I'm normally a zero or a double zero, but the zero didn't fit and thank God I had the back up of size 2.

Such a pretty dress but VERY small. If you don't have a totally flat stomach - or are self conscious about yours - this probably won't work. I don't have a 6 pack but I'm not in terrible shape, but my sides hung out of the cutouts of this a LOT. I don't love sharing this photo here but wish I had seen this before I ordered! I'm also 5 feet tall - you can see it is pretty short on me. Could be great for a sorority formal or a younger crowd but felt it would be too short for a rehearsal dinner.

I rented this for a party in Las Vegas, and ended up wearing different dress. This dress looks cute, but it is really, really short. I couldn't have danced in this without my whole behind showing - heck I could barely walk without the walking motion kicking the dress up and showing my backside. My waist is 27.5 and the size 6 was tight at the waist. After dinner it was worse, but it did look nice on. Size up for sure!

Like most E&J dresses, this style ran on the smaller side-which is why I like this designer, since I'm so petite (my measurements are about 32/23/31) I wore a 0 and it fit like a glove (was slightly tight in the waist when sitting- but fit more comfortably without a bra). I'm just under 100lbs so finding dresses that fit right is often difficult. At 5'2 this dress hit about mid thigh for me, but with the flirty flare of the dress it felt a little shorter than that (wore Nike pros underneath for my own comfort). Beautiful deep teal color. Loved the subtle side cut outs. Received tons of compliments all night! Paired with a simple necklace, RTR's Jenny Packham's spring splendor earrings, & RTR's Loeffler Randall's pink envelope clutch.

I sized up based on other reviews, and the fact that I didn't want the cutouts to look unflattering. I'm glad I did - I normally wear an 8, and ordered the 10 & 12. There wasn't that much of a difference between the two sizes, but I went with the 12 just so I would feel more comfortable and relaxed. It's a thick, quality material, and a great color for a fall wedding. I felt very confident in it!

My daughter wore this to her 8th grade formal. Super easy and super cheap and looked great. It was smaller than expected and she had to squeeze into the bigger back up dress but overall very enjoyable.

Def. runs small especially with the cutouts.. I'm originally a 4 and thank goodness I got a size up to a 6. I think I would even had been more comfortable in a 8. The cut outs kind of cut into your side and it appears that you are bigger than what you are. It is also REALLY short, I had to be careful when I bent over because you could see it all... all in all such a great dress though. 5'5 128lbs 34DDD

Rented this for my daughters homecoming. It was gorgeous on her! Advice is to go one size up as the cut out areas are not forgiving for anyone larger than the Olsen twins!

Wore this for my 25th birthday and couldn't ask for anything more in a party dress. Ended up having to use backup size 2 as 0 was a little tight; after sizing-up though, it was comfortable enough to dance and dance until the clubs closed, and still flexible enough to chow down on tacos afterward! Many compliments and made my evening all the more unforgettable. (Necklace & earrings also from RTR)

I go between a 2 and 4 in dresses. With this dress I went with a 4 because the zipper sticks and the cut outs would not be flattering if the dress is too tight. Plenty of compliments all night! Perfect for a casual wedding rehearsal.

I rented this dress as my free birthday dress for being an RTR pro member. The color is beautiful in person, and I loved the side cut outs. The top is fitted, so maybe go a size up for your 2nd size as you could spill out of the side cut outs which would not be flattering. I'm a 34 D so I did have to go up a size due to the fitted top of the dress. I would rent this dress again.

I love Elizabeth And James dresses, and this one did not disappointed. Rented this for a backyard wedding, and I think it fit perfectly. I've never worn a dress with cutouts before, but these were cutouts were just the right size, and didn't feel inappropriate at all. This dress was the perfect length on me, but I'm quite short, so watch out if you're taller!

The color, the details, the fit- I absolutely love this dress and would rent again. I received so many compliments, I would even buy it! Perfect dress for a cocktail party! I wore with block tan heels.

It is so flattering because it is snug in all the right places and flares out for a beautiful silhouette line. I felt great in it! It's a gorgeous color and the cutouts are trendy but not too revealing. The size 2 and 4 were pretty close but I felt the 4 was a little too long. The only issue I had was that the hemline folded over in one spot and hung down a bit lower so I had to keep trying to fold it back a few times. (Maybe ironing it would have helped it stay.)

We rented this dress for my daughter's 8th grade dance. We had been to every mall, store and online site until it dawned on me to go to RTR. We got this dress for a fraction of the cost if we had bought one and it arrived on time (actually a day early) which was great so she could try it on and with all the accessories and shoes before the big night. The color is stunning! She got so many compliments on it. I was concerned about the side cut outs but they were very tasteful and not too flashy at all. Even her father approved!! ;) We had to go out of town the next day, so I just brought the package with me and found the nearest UPS, walked in and the guy immediately took it from me and I was on my way!! The process couldn't have been easier or more seamless!! I will never forget this option ever again in the future when looking for the perfect dress for future events. One side note - the dress runs extremely small! My daughter normally wears and size 2 and the size 4 was snug, but she got away with it. She probably could have worn a size 6.
