I ordered the 4L with 6L as backup as I typically wear a 4 or 6. I ended up wearing 6L because the 4L was too tight in the ribs. I am 5'9" and the 6L was the perfect length with 2 1/2 inch heels and just slightly brushed the floor. It was very flattering and no one else had a dress like it at the formal charity event I wore it to. I would definitely recommend this dress and rent the runway. Always a great experience.

The dress is made from heavy fabric (not as delicate as I imagined) -- the good news is that it hides any bumps or rolls nicely. The fabric is not stretchy at all, so it you are in between sizes, choose the larger size. This dress could be worn with a regular bra (that I just pinched together with a clip in the back so the straps didn't show). Note: I ordered an 8P because 8R was not available -- at 5'6 with 1 inch heels the dress length was just fine (but barely).

I wore this dress for a gala I was working at, therefore I needed something easy to maneuver in. This dress was so comfortable and I could wear a normal bra with it. The fabric is thicker so it would be great for cooler weather. I'm 5'5" and it was a little long wearing flats, but I still got away with it. Highly recommend, I got lots of compliments!

The dress fit perfectly except for the length. I'm 5'3" and even with the petite length, I had to wear 6" heels. I was able to wear a cross-back bra with no issues. I received many compliments on the dress and it was comfortable for an evening formal event.

This dress is lovely! I rented a size 2 and size 4. Wore the 2 (the black lining hung a bit longer than the dress but I was able to pin it up). The size 4 must be mislabeled as it was much smaller than the 2 (fit like a size 0). Very comfortable and warm enough for the outside portion of the wedding. Would definitely rent this one again!

I ordered a 4R with a 2R as my backup, and fortunately the 2R fit because oddly enough, the 4R was smaller than the 2R. (?) I included a note when I returned the dresses, so hopefully they'll get that one figured out. Besides that, I loved the dress! My waist measures about 27-28" and the 2 fit fine. I have a "barrel chest" as my dad calls it, so it was snug on the ribs, but not uncomfortably so. I also have a longer torso, so my natural waist was about an inch lower than the waist of the dress. Length was good. I actually didn't have to wear 4" heels, so that was a plus. A 3" heel worked great for my 5'5" height. I wore a racer-back bra so I wouldn't have to worry about the straps showing all night. Dress material is heavier which worked great for a February event.

I had a last minute gala to go to so, of course, I went to RtR. I would never have chosen this one before, but I am happy it was one of the only options. It was really comfortable, it was glamorous, and the quality of the material was perfect for a winter affair. I wish I could have had the hair and makeup to match how fancy the dress was - but at least I had that. Thanks to RtR for the save!

I am wearing the 2 here, and I usually wear a 4. The 4 was a little too big, and the 2 was a little too small, but I wore the 2 anyway. I got many compliments while wearing this dress. I loved it!

Beware, the larger size you get, the longer the dress will be! And even the smaller Long sizes are REALLY long! I ordered the 6L with the 4L as backup for a formal wedding I was in. After reading the reviews I went with the Long since I like my floor-length dresses to be ACTUALLY floor length, and I knew I wanted to wear heels. Well, the dresses arrived and there was some slight panic when I tried on the 6 and even with help I couldn't zip it past the waistband (which doesn't actually hit at the true waist -- more at the ribcage) and it was SO long that even with my sky-high heels there were a couple inches on the floor. I was devastated, thinking I would have to wear something else and wishing I'd ordered the 8 instead. The next morning (day of the wedding) I thought I'd better leave no leaf unturned and tried on the 4 anyway. The point where I got stuck the night before I got stuck at again, but it felt no tighter than the 6 had at that point, the rest of the dress actually fit better AND the length, while still long, was workable! My determination set in and with the help of 3 friends (yes, 3) we were able to zip it up! Once it was on it really didn't feel that tight -- the waistband just really is that hard to get past, so make sure you have help or pliers or something... The dress is STUNNING, one of the most unique and classy dresses I've ever seen, and certainly that I've ever worn. The length ended up being perfect with 5-in heels, still grazing the floor, and I wore it with a black shawl and blingy but simple earrings/bracelet to not distract from the gorgeous texture of the dress.

Dress was beautiful. I ordered an 8L. I am 5’9 and wore 2in heels and it was still a little long so if you are worried about length, this dress would be great! I received lots of compliments and felt beautiful.

There were no more 4r available so I had no choice than to get the 4L and it was supper long but I just wore it with higher heels so it wasn't a big deal.

I didn't end up wearing this, but it was beautiful and I will probably rent again. Fit slightly large, I normally wear a 6 and the 4 fit perfectly. I'm 5'8" and ordered the long based on recommendations. With heels the long would have been fine, but if I went with flats I would need the regular.

Other reviewers' comments about the trickiness of the zipper are definitely valid. An old-school trick worked for me: I rubbed the lead of a pencil along the zipper, careful not to get marks on the dress, and it was much, much easier to open. Everything else about this dress is great!

This dress has very pretty embroidery and despite being black and white (like my entire closet), it was a very unique piece. I wore the 8L and at 5'9" I wore flats with no problem. The 10L would've required heels, though. The top was a tiny bit tighter than an 8 normally is on me, but wasn't uncomfortable throughout the night. Overall, a beautiful piece and I'm happy I rented it!

The dress was true to size but actually really long and I'm not that short! I had to wear 4" heels so it wouldn't drag on the ground. It would have been nice to wear flat sandals with this dress instead of heels. Overall this dress was gorgeous though, I would definitely rent again!

It was a beautiful dress. I'm not wearing heels in the photo, so it's not super long. The dress basically had no stretch especially at the built-in black belt, so it was very tight. If there were such thing as a size 10.5 it would have been a perfect fit. I also had a some trouble with the zipper right at the point where it crosses the belt. But I would love to rent this again to actually wear it sometime soon, since I ended up not wearing it this time around (the other dress I rented was better for the black tie event I attended)

The skirt felt fuller than it appears in photos, maybe because of the heavy material? I'm 5'9" and 140-145lbs, 34 B/C. I wore the 4L which was comfortably snug. By dessert I wished that I had worn the 6L! Could easily wear without a bra, but I needed to add some padding to fill out the top of the dress. Both the 4L and the 6L grazed the ground barefoot so I wore low heels. Zippers are definitely temperamental.

I had great fun wearing this dress to the "Taste of the South" gala in Washington! It is appropriate for any age - I felt youthful in it (I am 59) and received a ton of compliments! The length was perfect for my low heels. The 6R was MUCH longer so I was glad the 4R fit! This was my first RTR rental and I could not have been happier. The dress I actually ordered was not available but this one was perfect.

I ended up not wearing this to the event because there was another gown that I liked more. But this is a beautiful & comfortable dress. The fabric has more of a casual vibe to it. You can wear it with any bra, and the cut is flattering and forgiving. I wear between a two and a four in dresses typically and the two fit perfectly. This is a beautiful dress that I would definitely rent again.

I'm 5'10" and I wore this dress with flats. The length was perfect! Absolutely beautiful dress and I got a ton of compliments. I was worried that it might be too summery to wear to a winter wedding but the fabric is really rich and heavy so I think it worked very well. I would absolutely recommend this dress!

True to size, love Erin Fetherston fit! Beautiful fabric and slight fullness of skirt made this dress a little more formal than I expected. Comfortable, a little long of you are short like me, but doable with heels. I wore a regular racerback bra. Highly recommended!!

Fitted on top - I am normally a 6 on top (36C) and an 8 on the bottom, it fit really well. The waist was fitted and the hips were very roomy - perfect for a curvy hourglass body. I wore 2 inch heels and length was perfect.

I loved this dress. It was beautifully made. The lace overlay is stunning. It fit true to size, the rib cage area is snug, not to much give in the fabric. It was a tad bit too long and I'm 5'6". Those are the only negatives that I can say. Received many complements. My first experience with RTR was a success.

My daughter is 19, 5'10", and very slim. This gown, rented for a black tie wedding, beautifully complemented her statuesque figure. She opted to wear the 2L rather than the 4L because the 2L is slightly shorter and provided better coverage to her top. The 4L gaped just a touch around her shoulders. She wore a regular bra, flat sandals, and no slip. She's uncomfortable wearing dresses, but this one made her feel lovely. And the compliments put a smile on her face.

The fit was perfect, length was great and it is so well made! I agree the zipper is tricky right at the waist but my husband helped zip it up and it was not a problem. I wore a regular bra and no slip needed since it is lined. This dress does not disappoint! When I was asked about it, I gave them the details about Rent the Runway! I will definitely rent again. I felt so pretty! I was very satisfied with my first time experience!

I was obsessed with this dress for months and I finally had an event to wear it to!! I was so excited for the dress, when it arrived, I was surprised with how much fuller the bottom was than I thought and that it was a bit more formal than I was expecting, but it was perfect!! Everyone in the bridal party loved my dress and multiple people came up to me and said bow much they loved the dress and how I was second only to the bride. The only part of the dress that I was a little iffy about was that I wore flats so the back of the dress was slightly on the ground, a slight heel would have been better but I was intentionally dressing down the dress. (Side note: my boyfriend was on the knee scooter because he tore ligaments in his foot)

This dress was gorgeous! I consider myself a size "9" and ended up wearing the 10 for a little more rib cage room, but definitely could have survived in the 8. I didn't have to worry about wrinkles and it flowed effortlessly. Perfect for a wedding.

The fit was perfect, it was a little snug right under the breast, most likely because I wore a 10R instead of a 12R. The zipper was tricky right at the band, so you may need help zipping up the dress. I wore 3" wedges and the dress just barely skimmed the ground. If you are over 5'7 or wearing higher heels, go with the Long. Flats would not have worked with my height and the Regular. Overall the dress fit like a dream, was comfortable, and perfect for the wedding. Rent this dress- you won't regret it!

The only hard part was getting the zipper all the way up-- it wasn't too tight, it was just a tricky zipper. Definitely recruit some friends to help you out! This was an awesome dress!! I loved it the minute I put it on and I felt gorgeous!! I am a true size 8 and it fit very well. The only mentioned I have is I am a 36DD, it was a smidge tight across the chest but by no means should this concern anyone who is the same size. The tight feeling left after about 15 minutes, I guess it needed a little stretch. It was the perfect length for me with 3 inch heels, no one ever saw my shoes. I would not have changed the length at all!

The top half of the dress hugs the body and cinches in at the waist and the skirt has plenty of room if you have a larger bottom.
