A great evening made even more special by having such special gowns to wear.
I loved this dress and felt just right at a debutante ball I attended as a guest. It was not flashy but was sophisticated and classic. The fit was very forgiving. I could have easily gone down to a size 4 but the larger 6 still worked. As other reviews have noted, you MUST have fabric tape or will need to tack the front closed unless you want a plunging neckline. I am 5'9'' and had plenty of length in the L to wear 2-3 inch heels. Would definitely rent it again. (My daughter is pictured with me in a Nicole Miller that she rented from RTR.)

Arrived in protective packaging. Shipping back made easy!
This dress was exactly what I was looking for - conservative, classic, and beautiful. I wore it to a black-tie awards gala in front of the mayor, county commissioners, and other VERY important people. I wanted something conservative, yet tasteful. It was a hit. Got lots of compliments and I felt beautiful in it. It does run large. I am about 140 lbs, 5' 4" and usually wear a 6 dress size, and wore a 2R in this one and it surprisingly fit perfect. Since it is baggy and loose fitting, it wasn't too snug and it was roomy. The front v-neck does hang down low, so I just pinned it since I didn't want to show cleavage.

Loved this dress. Disappointed that it didn't come with a sash..
It's super loose and flowy. Had to fashion tap it closed.

Beautiful dress for a formal Palm Beach wedding!
I normally wear a 6 but only a size 2 was available which fit nicely, I think it would have looked good in a larger size also as I think it's supposed to be flowy. I usually hate when long dresses are too short (which happens most of the time for me) but this one looked fine because the material at the bottom is very light with different layers. I didn't end up wearing the belt because the color of it looked faded like it had been dry cleaned a few too many times. Overall, beautiful, comfortable dress!

A lovely dress but could have used something a little more glitzy
The dress was lovely. Pretty color, floaty and silky. The size definitely runs big (maybe I should should have used a 4?); I would have been lost without the fashion tape at the neck. In the end, although I liked the dress, I could have used something with a little more glitz and perhaps more form fitting for this holiday Xmas charity ball, especially when my date has more jewelry than I do! This is perhaps a better dress for a less formal affair.

It was difficult to wear
I ordered the 6R and 2R since the 4R was not avail. I had read that the dress runs large and that is very true. I wore the 2R and had to use double sided fashion tape to tape the dress to my torso to make it fit. I also had to use a safety pin in the waist to make the dress more form fitting as it was very loose. The belt that came with the dress was a whole different shade of purple and looked bad when I put it on since there was such a color variation. It would be helpful if when packing the rental for shipment that they had tried to match a belt that matched the color of the dress. Even the two dresses were different colors as I am assuming the color difference comes from having them professionally dry cleaned. The size 2 was a lighter shade and had more obvious wear than the 6 which was a deep beautiful plum color however it was way too big and I could not wear it. I had a long black satin belt that I used and it worked okay. The material of the dress gets wrinkled very easily so make sure if you are renting this that you have time to have it steamed out before your event. My other rentals from the runway had always been able to wear upon removal from the bag so I was kind of taken back and how much I had to do to make this dress wearable. I had even contacted RTR to tell them that I was not going to be wearing the dress because intially I was so disappointed when I put it on. But I had not choice as my event was the next day and I had nothing to wear. So after a whole container of double sided fashion tape I was able to manuver the dress enough to make it wearable and it worked. I did get compliments on the dress and I felt good in it after about an hour of messing with it. So just be patient if you rent this dress as you will need to make some minor adjustments or in my case major. The length was perfect and I am short...so keep that in mind too.

Amazing as always! RTR came through again!
I would typically wear a 6 or 8L and the 6L was perfect. There was plenty of material in the chest but it stayed in place nicely with the tape. As mentioned in other reviews there was no belt so I used a long black ribbon instead, and accented with black jewelry and pumps and it was perfect. I am 5'9 and wore a 3 inch heel and the long was just right! This dress is more purple then wine color. It is very easy and comfortable to wear. I loved it and recieved many compliments.

This was my first choice dress, and thankfully it fit!
This dress was was my first choice for a formal affair. I am usually a size 4 or 6 in DvF, so I was concerned that the size 2 would be too small. Thankfully, as other reviewers noted, the dress does run large and thus did fit. The dress is simple but elegant. As my boyfriend noted, it alludes to ancient Roman style. Note that if you are going for a glam look, large statement jewelry in a contrasting color is a MUST--small, delicate pieces will simply not "pop" against the fabric.

Stunning.
I rented this dress for a gala fundraiser. It was amazing. I felt so fancy. I am 5'9", 150#. i ordered the 8R (the long was not available then) and the 6L as my back up. i ended up wearing the 6L. the 8R just wasn't long enough for my shoes which had a bit of a heel. make sure you check the size chart on this dress because in general i'm a M/L or 8/10. was stunned the 6L fit so perfectly. would highly recommend this dress. it's flowy and comfortable. i couldn't believe how many compliments i got. this was my first RTR and it will certainly not be my last. the whole experience was great! thank you!

Perfect!
I ordered this dress as the back up to another RTR dress for a military ball and am so glad I did! This dress was so elegant and flattering that I ended up wearing it instead of my primary. The length was perfect, I was able to wear heels! Apparently there is a sash or a belt that goes with it that I did not receive, but even without it the dress was perfect!

perfect pregnancy solution
When I found out I was pregnant and realized a dress I had already purchased to wear to a black tie wedding would probably not fit by the time the event came around, I figured I better start looking for a back-up. This was my first time using Rent the Runway, and I could not have been happier with my dress choice or the rental process. I usually wear a size 4 or 6 in DVF, and figured the cut of this style would be flattering and forgiving of a growing belly and bust. I agree with the other reviewers that the fit runs a bit large, and at 4 1/2 months pregnant, this worked perfectly for me since there was no back-up size available for my rental date. The waistline is elasticized underneath the tie sash, and this rested just above my bump, the chiffon fabric draped nicely all over, and you could barely tell I was pregnant. I wore a low heel, and the length was perfect, just grazing the floor. I also tacked the front neckline which was not visible, and I did not have to worry about it opening. I received several compliments, and I felt pretty and comfortable all night. I will definitely recommend using Rent the Runway to friends, and because I had such a positive first experience, I would certainly rent again.

The dress is gorgeous! It fits a little big, so I would recommend ordering down for your second size. I wore the dress without the belt and folded it under to give it more of an empire waist. It worked great!

Adore! I got more compliments than the bride! It is not a true wrap...which makes it much easier to wear. I did pin it shut a little bit to avoid showing too much. The sash that is pictured in a bow was not in my bag so I used a black satin belt from another dress. It looked great! Very forgiving. Could have gone up or down a size without a problem. The long was very long. I wore 3 inch heels and had a little train.

Rented this for a black tie wedding. I usually wear a 10, but listening to previous reviewers, I ordered a size 8L & 6L just to be safe... Wow, even the 6 hung loosely on me! I decided not to wear to the event because couldn't get the fit to flatter my figure - it just hung in all the wrong places for me. P.s. always like to leave a note about the dress length for my tall ladies -- this one barely touched the floor barefoot, so make sure if you're planning to wear this you have some low heels.

This dress was fantastic for the blacktie corporate event I needed it for. I chose two sizes and fit into the smaller one as it isn't too form fitting. I did use double sided tape to secure the top. The length was just right.

Nice casual dress. Mine did not come with a belt! Size down and get boob tape.
This was my back up dress. Maybe I am too French, but this dress to me is more casual. More of a maxi feel. The fit is large. I usually wear anything from a 10 to a 14 depending on the fit and the 8 was perfect so consider sizing down. Also, you well need flesh tape for the top. It does not come with a belt like in the photo. ( At least mine didn't and they dress really needs a belt to cinch in at the waist) You could dress it up with gold accessories. It's made of silk which is nice. I love a good fabric. I didn't wear it because I didn't have the boob tape that it needed and it didn't seem dressy enough for my event. and i did not get the belt like in the photo. I could see myself wearing it for like a daytime wedding with flat sandals or something more casual....

Beautiful Gown
Loved the dress, looked great. Didn't do much for my small boobs, but I still loved it. Like everyone has said it runs big so order a size down and buy booby tape. Oh, and the regular is really short. I'm not quite 5'8" and in bare feet the regular was barely long enough. But it was my party and I had no intention of wearing shoes in my own home. = )

Pretty but runs large!
Loved the color of the dress. Took the advice about the dress being slightly large and ordered a smaller size. Was glad I did because the dress definitely had a deeper v on me than the picture and I had to use some fashion tape to hold it in place. I wore it to a more formal wedding and received tons of compliments, it was also really comfortable which was an added bonus

I usually wear a 10, but they were out of that size. I ordered the 8 and it was still quite large on me. While it was large, I didn't have a problem with the top that others reported. I returned the dress as it was too big, but the color is gorgeous and I will definitely rent this again in a smaller size.

Beautiful dress...but didn't fit me. I have a small bust and the top hangs if you don't fill it out. It looks like it fits a small bust on the picture, but unfortunately it did not. Wish it had worked though!

When I saw this dress on the model I wondered how it stayed closed in the chest area. I thought maybe there was a hidden snap or something. Nope. As the reviewer before mentioned, this dress completely hangs open in the front exposing your bra. I had to run to the store for a last minute double sided tape purchase. Once taped up the dress looked very pretty and was comfortable, too.

This dress is beautiful with one caveat - unless you use a safety pin, it does not cover your chest or wrap around the front like it looks in the picture. I rented a size 4 and 6 and both of the dresses just hung open. I have a fairly small bust, but I don't think it would have mattered if I was a 34A or a 34DD. It was also clear that the person who rented the dress before me used the same trick. Still, it's a beautiful dress and I received lots of compliments

Not flattering
This dress was sent to me as a backup when my first choice wasn't available. The top is oddly cut and bagged open, the dress was shapeless and unflattering. Definitely runs very big and not flattering for a small bust. It came without the belt pictured, so maybe that would have helped. I didn't wear it!
