This dress was gorgeous! I felt comfortable, but beautiful and it was lightweight enough to not die in the MS summer heat. It fits true to size if not a little loose. I wore a 34R with flat sandals and I'm 5'9" and weigh about 135. I wish I could buy this!

I felt the 4 fit better but the top was just way too big, so I opted for the 6. The top of the 6 actually fit better than the top of the 4, which was super bizarre. But it looked amazing, I felt like a princess.

Definitely could have worn a 34, as this was a little big but it no bra was needed and at 5'9 with heels the length of the dress was ideal. Highly recommend.

I received compliments on this dress all evening. I bounce between a size 2 and 4 depending on the brand - in this case the 2 (36 L) fit perfectly. The straps were snug but not too snug, the length was perfect with 3" heels. The fabric gathering around the bust was flattering, it's the little details in this solid dress that really make it so eloquent. This dress has a slit that I didn't notice and hit me about mid-thigh when I sat down - it did not bother me but may bother others. The dress looked more black than navy in person but I did not mind that - be prepared to steam the dress when you receive it.

I loved the sexy details of this dress! The low back and crosscross spaghetti straps were my favorite elements!

The dress fit surprisingly well, I was worried about the draping in the front and the risk of exposure because I couldn't wear a bra but I used a bunch of fashion tape to secure the top portion and it was fine. I was so comfortable all night and the fit was extremely flattering on me especially the back! And the draping helped to make my larger bottom half appear more proportional. It might not work with all body types, esp those who are bustier. I am normally an 8 but the 6 fit better in the chest.

Classic black gown with a stunning silhouette. This Carven runs true to size with room in the bust. For backup, I'd recommend sizing down to ensure that the bust fit snugly. The back is open with a criss cross detail, making it necessary to go bra-less or wear a NuBra. The size 4 was large in the bust, so I would have preferred the size 2 or 0. As for length, at 5'7" the regular fit fine but I would have preferred the long-length especially with heels. Dress up your look with a short pendant and delicate bracelet.

Wore to a black tie wedding. Fits true to size (size 6 is my normal dress size). No need to wear a bra-added bonus. Slit adds both sexiness and comfort for dancing. Navy color was a nice change from plain black. I had it steamed prior and it stayed wrinkle free. Lots of compliments-love this dress!

Cons first: this dress fit me fine, but the material is so light and loose (which is a good thing in my book in and of itself) the zipper is very heavy and the dress doesn't support it well. The waist line hit my natural waist but the zipper was so heavy it drooped and bulged out, rather than stay flat to the side-- as you can see in the photo (left side). That being said, the front is very billowy and has multiple panes of fabric so it wasn't noticeable as being odd to anyone but me. The adjustable straps, frankly, suck. It was impossible to get them even, and I was genuinely concerned the bizarre way I had to secure them (no clue if it was right honestly) would give out at any moment. Also, fashion tape is necessary up front because no matter how you get the straps, if you bend over you're giving a show, especially for someone so small chested like me. Pros: despite the technical issues, I will rent this dress again because it was gorgeous. Super flattering, extremely comfortable, understated but sexy. Loved it so much!

Got loads of compliments on how beautiful I looked; the dress itself doesn't attract that much attention, but it did the job of showing me off. It is a very dark blue, almost black. Low back added drama. Fit true to size; I generally wear a 2-4. Used fashion-tape to hold in place around the chest. The one downside was this dress ran very long. Tried to use fashion tape to make it shorter, but it's lined and not quite set up for that. Should've just let it go long and relied on the heels to keep me (just barely) high enough off the ground. If you are on the shorter side, leave plenty of time to get the fashion tape laid correctly. Wore with nude-colored peep-toe heels. Overall, success!

Wore to a debutante party. Dress was long, but with heels (2 1/2") was fine. I definitely should've ordered a 2 (unavailable when I ordered) because the straps were way too long. I ended up using safety pins to secure the straps tighter. Luckily that worked. I wore no bra with the dress, but there were almost a few slips with the ruched top. I think if I had ordered the correct size this dress could've been perfect.

The dress was really easy to wear. Day wedding near the shore. If you need a bra, you'll need to get one with a very low back.

I rented this dress at the last minute for an outdoor wedding and was really pleased with it! It's fitted at the waist, loosely draped over the bust, with a beautiful flowy skirt. The back is completely open which is very pretty but you can't wear a bra. That was ok for me because the front offered a lot of coverage but the lack of support was not ideal... The other issue was the straps, which were a little bit too long and different lengths... I shortened them by tying slip knots in them at the back. The regular length worked with flats, but I'd recommend the long dress if you are taller than 5'6''-7'' and want to wear heels. Regardless of the minor adjustments, the dress fit, was very comfortable and I got tons of compliments all night long!!

I loved this dress it was understatedly sexy! The draping on the chest is sexy without being too revealing. There's also a nice side slit. I would have rated this dress higher, but the strap was stretched when I got the dress and because there were no dresses left in stock RTR suggested I pin it if wanted to wear it. I did this and it worked, but the straps just didn't feel completely secure.

Other than the back, the rest of the dress is pretty free flowing so its comfortable to spend a long time in. It's great for dancing and the detailing on he back is really flattering. Really loved this dress!

rented this for a black tie wedding - it was actually the backup dress when RTR was unable to send my first choice but I'm so glad I stumbled on it in the new arrivals section as I loved it! the 38L fit me perfectly - the waist is fitted so if you're bigger in the middle, I would size up as your backup, but otherwise the fit is very forgiving and the length was just right for me with 3.5" heels. I went bra-less and was totally comfortable. It was light and easy to move in, the draping was subtle and beautiful. The only potential issue is I felt the straps were somewhat long for me with the looseness of the top, if I didn't sit/stand up straight it drooped a little more than I would have liked. Would absolutely rent this again though!

The length was perfect when I was wearing 5 inch heels, but the straps were a little long. If your torso and legs are proportionate or your torso is longer, then I don't think this should be a problem (my torso is much shorter). Really pretty dress, and I loved the open back!

The back of the dress was awesome (main reason I rented this dress). But I agree with many of the reviewers that the top of the dress is really big. I had to use a lot of tape to make sure that the top was not too loose/revealing (a lot of work!). Also, one of the straps was not very securely sewn in. It ended up working fine for me, but I would recommend double checking the straps before wearing to avoid any mishaps.

The length was spot on and so was it being comfortable enough for my hips and waist. However, the chest area was a big problem. My chest is small (34B) but the size i wore (40R) - which fit great everywhere except there was so much room in the chest area. Even if a woman with a bigger chest wore it, still don't think it would have fit correctly. Despite that, I still loved the dress! Having sticky boobs and sticky tape is a MUST however if you want to make this dress work.

This dress was perfect for a black tie wedding. I loved the thin straps and the open back. The dress was overall very flattering and I received a lot of compliments. Based on reviews which suggested ordering a side down as a backup, I ordered a 38 and 36 (I'm usually a size 4) and I think a 34 would have fit even better. The top of the dress is very loose and kept falling down to reveal my sticky bra. Would recommend investing in some fashion tape to prevent that from happening! The length was great with 5" heels.

The top part was huge. I did not appreciate how big it was going to be. I used a ton of fashion tape to keep it up, but I still felt uncomfortable throughout the night.

The dress was brand new and there weren't reviews when I rented it, so hopefully these details are useful to others. I am usually a 4 or 6 but went for the 6 given it's a French brand - that worked well for the waist. The top, however, has a lot of material and would have needed a much larger chest (than my b cup) to fill it out. I could have spent a lot of time pinning it, but opted not to and went with something I already owned. Elegant dress, with a great open back, if you have the right body for it.

I was unable to wear this dress. I ordered my usual size and a size up but it still did not fit right. I struggled a lot with the straps. The way they are placed on the dress I am sure makes it beautiful if you can get them right but I just couldn't - nor could my friends. I was so disappointed but it just didn't work. In the end I borrowed a friend's dress because I couldn't get a replacement in time.

It showed off a little too much skin for my taste. I have a small chest and would have had to use fashion tape to avoid showing too much. The slit up the side would have been fine on its own, but the event didn't warrant showing off both chest and legs.
