I'm small and sized up 2 sizes from my J Crew size (usually a 0, and in this gown a 4 fit perfectly.) It's cut small in the bust, with a line of boning, which made me feel secure and trim, wore it without a bra. Needed help zipping it up! The fabric looked heavier and pleated in the photo; it was actually a wonderful light chiffon, and gathered, not pleated. Well-lined. Wore 2" heels and it puddled on the floor about two inches.

I previously rented this in a 36 and was so disappointed that it was too small. So when I had another event, I rented the 38. Wow! It's a stunning dress, in a deep purple-blue color. Rented the necklace shown in the model picture and it is the perfect accessory for this dress. Lots of compliments, Length of the 38P was perfect with my 3 inch heels.

It fitted me perfectly! It's the right length for my height (4R for 5"2) and enhanced my broad shoulders and flat chests. The empire waist hid my belly well too. Love the color and flowy fabric.

This is a beautiful dress that pictures cannot do justice. The only con is that it runs small, very small. I am 5'4", 115lb and a size 2 with a 34C bust. The 34 and and 36 (which I believe is the equivalent of a 2 and a 4) were ridiculously small, I could not zip them up. Rent The Runway was great and overnighted me size 38 and 40. The 38 (size 6) fit perfectly. So I would say order 2 sizes above your normal size when ordering this dress.

Didn't need ironing. Wouldn't be good for large chest.

I'm 6' 0" with a long, lanky body and a small 34C bust. This dress in size 40L was perfect on me with 2-inch heels. It fit like a glove, and I could not have asked for a better rental. It fit tight (but not uncomfortably so) on my chest, so I had no worries of any wardrobe malfunction! Because I'm pretty small-busted I didn't wear a strapless bra. I felt great in it all night long, and my husband kept telling me how beautiful I looked!

This dress runs small especially in the top. I am a 34C and found it hard to zip the dress. Once I was in, it fit great. It is shorter in the front so make sure you have shoes that you want to be seen. The ribbing on the sides and it the breast area were a tad uncomfortable. Overall, I loved this dress

The fit on the upper was pretty small. I'm a bcup and had difficulty with the zipper. I rented a regular length and am pretty short (5'4). I'm used to long gowns flowing to the floor. On this dress you can definitely see your feet/heels completely so that was a little odd. I thought the dress looked OK and even considered not wearing it, so was shocked how many compliments I received...has a nice feel to it and flows so it looks cool while you're dancing. So overall, when it came I didn't think I would like it but I did! Have to have faith in the RTR! :)

The dress fit very well, the only complaint I have is that the dress is made so that you do not have to wear a bra with it, and the wire that rounds the bust tends to stick out a little. I played with it for a little bit and it ended up looking fine. Overall a very pretty dress!

Dress worked beautifully for occasion. This picture is 100% RTR so things worked for every age group. The Carlo Miele dress ran small on top but worked for my body shape. I'm 5'6" and needed the long and the 38 - usually wear a size 4. Coupled with rhinestone accessories, it was great for dancing, dining, and accruing compliments!

I ordered the dress in a 0 and 2, but was super surprised that the zero was too small, considering I'm a smaller 0. Luckily the 2 fit me perfectly! The dress is small through the chest area, so if you have a larger chest size, I would suggest going up two sizes. This was my first time renting from RTR and I was very satisfied. I had a great time and the dress was perfect for my event! I will definitely be renting again for my next event.

This dress is SO beautiful and elegant. It was my first choice. Unfortunately it was too small and too short. I ordered a 6R because that is all they had. I think if I would have been able to get a 8L it would have been perfect! This is my first time using RTR and as a result I have had a very hard time finding a dress to fit BUT the people who work here have gone above and beyond in trying to help me find a perfect fit and I will definitely use them again having more knowledge!

This dress was insanely comfortable. I'd rent it again in an instant and I wish I owned it. I danced like crazy in this dress and felt great all night long. The fit was amazing. It's an expensive high quality dress and it shows and people definitely noticed and asked about it. Compared to my back up dress, the quality of the fabric was amazing and there was really no comparison.

As most other reviewers mentioned it does run a bit small in the bust. However, I'm a 32DD or E and ended up wearing this without a bra -which i have never done EVER in my whole life - and i was snuggly zipped up for the night and it looked great. Color is really beautfiul - i rented the necklace shown on the model and was equally happy with it.

This gown is beautiful! However, as others have said, it is soooo small in the chest area! I couldn't even zip it up. (There's a zip under the arm) I so wanted to wear this dress because the color is stunning! But I had to return it unworn b/c no matter how hard I tried, there was NO way it would fit my chest area. I may reorder a larger size for a future event......that is how much I liked it!

It runs quite short. Anyone taller than 5' 7" needs to size up from the 40L. It just touched the ground for me. I could have worn the 38L but it was too short.

Bust fits small, I'm usually a 0 but could not zip the smallest size up. Length seems to vary, the smaller size was a longer length. Overall the color is very pretty in person, not navy like the picture. Nice material.

I loved this dress. I wore it to a USMA West Point formal and it was perfect! The length was amazing. It's usually so hard for me to find dresses that are long enough to wear with decently high heels, but the long size was great. The material was super soft and comfortable to sit and dance in all night. The color is richer than the picture portrays, but is absolutely beautiful. I got tons of compliments! Definitely recommend.

I wore this to my daughter's bat mitzva which was a red carpet theme. It was exactly what I was looking for - somewhere between cocktail and formal. The fabric was a light silk crepe. The cut was incredibly flattering. The way the one shoulder started closer to the center instead of by the armpit was very attractive (sexy?). I think of myself between a 4 and a 6 so I ordered the 36L and the 38L. Didn't even try the 36 on. The 38 fit perfectly with 3-4 inch heels. There was boning so I didn't even have to wear a strapless bra. Super comfortable. I had never rented a dress before - I would absolutely do it again. What a great experience!

I didn't end up wearing the dress, although I loved the look. It was a beautiful color and style. I am petite and usually wear a size 0 but this dress was very tight on top. I could barely get it zipped. I would have ordered the next size up but it wasn't available.

Ok seriously - you need to order at least 2 sizes up! I'm usually a 0-2 or XS - S in RTR dresses and I couldn't not even zip the 36 up. The 38 was a tad bit big in the bust for me but still worked great. I'm a 32/34 B and weigh 120 pds for anyone that might want measurements. Seriously - go biggers or you will be disappointed. Also if you are 5'6 or above and plan to wear heels that are at least 3 inches - get a long! The regular size was only an inch or so past my feet when I wasn't wearing heels. Overall - I loved the dress... it's just difficult to pick the right size!!

The 12 was gigantic and I couldn't zip the 10. Mysterious huge gap in sizing!

This dress was beautiful. I rented it for a black tie wedding in Miami. The color (which is fairly purple) was lovely, and it was a nice light weight fabric. It fit perfectly, but it was too short! The 40 fit me perfectly, and I am usually about an 8 depending on brand. You can also wear a strapless bra underneath, which is nice. After reading all the reviews, I thought the regular length would be the way to go. I'm 5'7", and this dress was too short even with bare feet. I wouldn't even have been able to wear it with flats. Luckily, the second choice of dress I ordered fit perfectly!

I rented this for a wedding and couldnt wear it because i couldnt clasp it around the bust, even without a bra. Its so very very small. I wear a 34B/32C and I was about 4 inches from being able to get this one. The dress is otherwise gorgeous and flowy and the perfect length if you are 5´5 with 3 inch heels.

I went to a black tie wedding and received compliments from everyone! The dress was true to size and very flattering. Comfortable to sit, stand and dress in!

This dress is much prettier in person. The color (lighter than regular navy, with a little purple) and detail are so pretty up but I chose not to wear it, because a dimly lit room just wasn't going to do it justice. I'm just over 5'3" and it was a little long with 4" heels but I think it would have been manageable. The 38 was snug through the chest but not uncomfortably so. It was flattering and I loved that it wasn't form fitting so spanx wouldn't be necessary. It was a really tough choice between this and the other dress I rented. I almost wish I had 2 events to go to!

Off the shoulder is oh so modern. This gown flows nicely which means it might cover some imperfection of the tummy if you get my drift. It was a little long but my 3" heels did the trick for my 5'6" self. I did have to squeeze and hold my breath to get my 36B chest in there but the top never slipped or moved which is a bonus when it comes to off-the-shoulder. I would rent it again.

They didn't have this dress in an 8 or a 10 - bummer! So I gave the size 6 a whirl... unfortunately I couldn't get the dress to zip around chest. Really liked the look of the dress and was definitely bummed they didn't have my size - really pretty color! I'm pretty sure the 8 would have fit perfectly....

I selected another long navy dress for a wedding, and RTR sent this particular dress as my back-up. I assumed the back-up size in the dress I selected wasn't available. I don't have a picture of it because I didn't wear it. I did try it on, and it ran a little small. The material was very nice; it was a solid dress.

This dress was pretty, but I unfortunately couldn't wear it because the bust was way too tight and made the dress almost impossible to get on despite fitting really well elsewhere.

Received a size 38 and 40. Beautiful dress, but runs very small and couldn't wear either. Luckily my back up dress fit perfect!

Gorgeous dress, but to tiny to zip

I got this dress as a backup because I wanted a 4R but they only had a 2R available. I usually wear a 0 so I thought it might fit but it was about an inch from being able to zip up. I do not have a particularly large rib cage or chest so definitely make sure to pick your size accordingly! I was pretty sad because the dress was such a beautiful purple color!

It was gorgeous and the color was richer than it looks in the photo, however the 4R was really tight around the ribcage and I probably couldve squeezed into it but i didnt want to be uncomfortable all night so I didnt end up wearing it.

I'm giving this dress 3 stars only because it's so pretty and would likely look stunning on a tall person. I'm 5'3" and was unable to wear the Regular length dress - even with 3 1/2 inch heels, it was about 4" too long. I would have been tripping over it all night. Although the RTR size guide says it is 58" long, it is actually 61"- 62" long when measured without being held up by the hanger straps. It runs a little large. I'm normally a 4, but the 2 fit well other than the length. It's a gorgeous dress - I just wish I could have worn it!

I ordered a size up based on the other RTR recommendations. The top half "fit" but I would have preferred a little more room. I'm actually much smaller on the top (small rib cage and chest) so this was surprising. Plus, the wire stuck out in an awkward way. The bottom half flowed beautifully but it was WAY too short. I'm only 5'4" and the dress was ankle length on me. I ultimately decided not to wear the dress and instead traded it for another option. This might work well on a really petite person under 5'2".
