I'm usually a size 6 or 8...the sales rep on the phone picked size 42L - which was WAY to big everywhere - not to mention about 6 inches too long even with my heels. I'm 5'6 1/2". They sent a 40R the next day - which was still a smidge too big, but it worked and it was so comfortable! Fabric is stretchy - so I was wishing I had gone with the next size down for extra "hug". I love the simplicity of this dress. The "tie up" on the side is strictly decorative, but adds a nice, sexy detail (it doesn't show up in this pic). I'm so glad I picked it for my "back-up" dress at the last minute. Great experience shopping with RTR - beats running around town from store to store!

This dress fit me like a glove it's true to it's size and clings to your body in all the right places.

It was perfect, exactly what I was looking for.

I usually wear between a 0 and a 2 but size 2 was the only size available. It was a tiny bit big in the chest area but other than that fit like a glove!! A 0 would have been to short, the 2 was absolutely perfect in length! I was very impressed, the dress was so beautiful and extremely comfortable.

I am a 0 and this dress was big and long. Note in picture that I used a sash that I had around my waist so I could pull the dress up and make it shorter. Tried taping it - not easy on this dress. It is form fitting but not tight. It was actually too big on me in the bust/shoulders but it does well when it does't fit exactly right. I picked this dress because I as not sure how dressy this black tie event would be and it made a great well-fitted dress and a fantastic backdrop for good accessories.

I ordered a 36L and the length of the dress was quite longer than I expected even with my 4 inch heels. I had to be careful not to trip on the dress. I would have probably felt better in a 36R. However the dress was extremely comfortable and easy to wear.

I rented this dress for a semi-formal wedding rehearsal dinner. The bride decided last minute she all wanted us in long black dresses. This was my first RTR experience and it was wonderful! I got the 34R and it fit me with a little room left over. One thing that I wish I had known is that it's not fitted all the way thru the middle. Other than that, a great fit and I got some wonderful compliments!

This dress fit like a glove without looking inappropriate. It has very nice construction, with an inner liner which helps cinch in/smooth out the lumps! Fabric is a very high quality viscose jerseyBust was a little tight, but not uncomfortably so- there is enough give in the dress to make it super comfortable. Length was beautiful, pooling a little on the floor-- however, I did have to lift dress to prevent tripping when I was shaking it up on the dance floor. Only issue I had with the dress is that it is very difficult to get on and off- there is no zipper on the side or back (which makes for beautiful lines) but I needed a helper to wiggle it down. Do your hair after you put on the dress...

I really liked this dress, though I wish I ordered a 4 instead of a 6 and 8 equivalent. I wore the 6, and it was definitely big and long. But, it was very flattering and super comfortable!

This was one of two dresses I ordered. This one fit perfectly and was exception length with my 3 inch heels. I loved it and received many compliments. I also paired it with a RTR necklace and the result was perfect.

I wore this dress to a Gala. It was very beautiful and form fitting. However, the dress was a little too short. I would recommend ordering the Long size.

Pros: elegant, conservative, subtly sexy - perfect for a bridesmaid. Cons: The boob padding is weird and made my silhouette kind of bumpy, if I'd bought the dress I would have cut it out. The pictures make it look like there is a tie on the side, I think it has been removed - but I liked it better without it.

Very good standard black dress. Not too exciting but a nice conservative dress for a work party or similar occasion.

I'm 5'7 about 120 lbs. I ordered a 34R bc I could only get it in a regular length. I wore smaller heels and it worked out fine. I also couldn't fill out the top part as I would of liked. But over all I would recommend this dress!! Loved it!

I did not end up wearing this dress, but would love to own a dress like this. Perfect fit, very comfortable and endlessly versatile.

Fantastic dress!

This dress is very, very long. I'm 5'1" and the bottom of the dress was swimming along the floor. Luckily RTR provides fabric tape which works really well. I wore the smaller of the two sizes I received, which was a size 4. But the 2 would have worked better since it runs large and the material is stretchy. My friend who is 5'8" even thought the regular would be long for her.

This dress is very flattering. I would suggest ordering a size smaller which worked perfectly for me. It is long so I had to pick up with every step but overall it looked great. Received many compliments and was told I looked like just came off the runway!! LOL

This dress ran very large and the bust area drooped on the side. The material is heavy so you must order smaller size or it will weigh you down. The L was was too long and I am 5'7 and had on 23 inch heels and still gathered at the bottom. Could not wear it. I ordered the 8 and the 10. I wore a 12 in the Nicole Miller and it fit. SO order much smaller for this dress as the 8 and 10 were way too big.

I didn't end up wearing it because the size I got was too big - but it would have been nice for a growing bump. I was about 4.5 months at the time and the fabric definitely could have stretched further. I panicked and got the bigger size due to the belly and should have gone with my pre-preggo size.

The fabric was heavy (but not uncomfortable) so it hung very well. It had the perfect amount of stretch and was very forgiving and flattering. I normally would have chosen the Long size but I had to wear flats for this event due to a foot injury. The regular size was about 1/2 inch from the floor. If you want to wear heels and are 5'7" or over, I would definitely recommend the Long.

I received this dress in a 34R and 36R. I tried the 34R on first and it fit well in general, but the ruching wasn't quite right because the little strappy things that are supposed to hang down on one side were missing. They were still attached on the 36R, but it was too big. I called RTR and they offered to send me any other available dress (at any price!) free of charge since this dress, while still wearable, was damaged and didn't fit exactly how it should. The other dress I picked was unwearable because of a zipper issue so I ended up wearing this dress in the 34R. It was fine, but I had to keep picking it up all night since it didn't fit right. I also used fashion tape to keep the dress up a little better. Overall, it's a pretty dress and I did get compliments on it. I hope they are able to fix it because I think it would look really nice if it's repaired.

The dress was completely stretchy so it fit my 9 month pregnant belly! I looked slim in all the right places and the belly looked really cute! The top was a bit wide and I had to pin the one side, but if you have a large chest, it would work great.

I wore this dress to a black tie gala for work. The dress is very comfortable because of the jersey fabric, but because it is black it looks formal. I didn't notice the drawstring in the RTR photo (and I didn't love that part of the dress) but it wasn't that noticeable and created more of a waist. Overall, thumbs up.

The fit was very nice and the fabric was comfortable for a long formal evening. At times the dress felt a bit heavy and I was unsure what to do with the hanging strings. All in all, it was a great dress - very simple and elegant.

The dress ran quite large and was too open on the shoulder-less side. Really flattering design, comfortable fabric. I usually wear a 4 or small, but I needed an xs in this one.

Ordered the 36R and 38R. 36R fit the best but was too short. Called to get the long but it wasn't available, had to order a different dress.

The dress was a perfect length and was a great pick. I could dress it up with accessories or dress it down. Its a very versitale dress! I loved the convenience of being able to just drop it in the package and drop it at the nearest post office. I will be renting a dress again for my company Christmas party.

little too long. big in bust

This dress was beautiful and definitely would have been long enough for me with heels. I did not get to wear it though due to my unpreparedness in ordering with a decent amount of time before the event. I decided to order the dress only days before the wedding I was supposed to go to so the only size available was a size 10. Usually I am between a size8/10 depending on waist and length (I have a big booty). This dress would have been perfect had I ordered a smaller size.

Thank goodness I ordered this to be picked up and tried on before the rental. I'm 5'4", 32C and tried on the 36R after reading reviews and it barely came to my ankle. Additional, I consider myself thin but athletic and the hips,waist and stomach area was so unforgiving that it created the illusion that I had a bit of a tummy bump, in black none the less! Be weary of the the length and make sure you've got your spanx!

I received a 40L in this dress, as well and it was HUGE. It literally hung off me. It looked like I was wearing a sack. I would possibly recommend this dress if you are curvy, but flat-chested girls stay away, or get at least one size smaller than usual. I can't say that it was anything too remarkable, otherwise. It's a simple, serviceable black dress.

Thought I would love this dress - really attracted to the string detail on the side. However, top part was ill-fitting and loose, and overall, dress hid my shape and looked slightly paper-baggish. Like the design but think the dress is only okay. Luckily, my back up dress fit perfectly!

didn't like the fit of this dress and it didn't flatter my figure. it was last minute though because rent the runway messed up my order and didn't have the dress i originally ordered

Dress fit well except for at the bust.

I chose to wear this dress to a gala and wanted to cover a tattoo (Success!) I received several compliments on the dress and the jewelry I also wore from RTR. Quick delivery gave me enough time to decide on two dresses I rented

Regular length was too short for me at 5'8''. Fabric was slinky and didn't feel like it was going to provide coverage.

I rented this as my second dress for a formal affair. It was way too big when I tried it on. I would suggest getting a couple sizes smaller than normal because the material is very stretchy.
