The dress doesn't really have a waistline so it can appear and little boxy on some people. The train on the back is stunning and it would make a beautiful wedding gown. Rent this one if you want someone different.

The bride chose a variety of gold dresses from RTR for us bridesmaids to pick from. I chose this one. It fit perfectly snug for a strapless dress so I didn't need to pull it up all the time. It was very long so super high heels required. I wore a regular strapless bra and used fashion tape to stick the dress to the bra. It had a nice metallic sheen that wasn't overwhelming. It was a lot of fun to wear. The material is pretty thick and Kinda felt like snow pants so I was really warm. Probably better worn in a winter wedding instead of an outdoor wedding in August- but it looked nice!

This dress was so gorgeous and sophisticated! I wore it to a breast cancer benefit with a speakeasy theme. It was a little big around my tummy, hips, and legs - I didn't order a backup size because there wasn't another one available, but ideally it would have been great to have worn a 0. I'm also super short, so it was very long on me, but when I wore it with 4-inch heels and wore a petticoat under it, it was perfect. Though the dress is kind of heavy, unlike many of the other reviewers, I didn't really feel uncomfortable or hot, but I also didn't do a lot of dancing. I will probably never get to own a dress as beautiful and expensive as this one - I really enjoyed my first experience with RTR and look forward to working with them again.

This dress is beautiful! In person it is a beautiful gold with great details, although it looked more white on the website. The material is great and I could easily wear it all night. No issues with the chest falling (didn't have to tug all night!) and I'm 5'7" and the length was perfect! Seriously, people are still emailing me telling me how beautiful I was and how stunning the dress was. I will definitely use RTR again, and, heck, may even get this dress again just to wear around while I run errands!

I loved this dress from the moment I saw it. I had to have it even knowing it was only available in Long. The dress is true to size. I normally wear a 0R yet the extra fabric from the 0L just added a train when worn with my highest heels

I wore this to a Gala and loved it! I did not want the night to end! The dress fit me perfectly and I loved the corset since i didn't need to pull my dress up- it stayed in place. I wore 4 inch heels with it and the dress was at an ok distance from the floor.

I wore this dress for our rehearsal dinner. I felt like a million bucks in it. I wanted to choose a dress that would stand out since I was the bride to be. This dress was perfect!! I had so many comments while wearing this dress. I ordered the 10L and the 8. This dress is a little long but is perfect with heels. Rent it!!

The dress my my hourglass figure look amazing and me and my date matched perfectly even though we were a little scared that it wouldn't. I received compliments all night especially last night. I felt beautiful. This dress really does run true to size. And the inner corset was a plus. I wish I could've kept it. But someone else will be able to wear it and experience how I felt wearing this beautiful dress.

I tend to wear a 4, but it was too tight across my chest. I wore the 6 which was a little loose through my waist, but was comfortable to move around in. There is a slight train that people occasionally stepped on and the trumpet fit can be awkward if you aren't used to it. As VP for a local organization, I had to be photographed often and speak on stage. This dress was elegant and luxurious without being over the top. It looks great in all lighting. RTR provided awesome service to me since my original dress was unavailable. Can't wait for my next rental!!!

This dress was a little tight around my bust, but other than that fit perfectly. (I am a 32D) I am 5'10 and wore the long with 4 inch heels, and the length was perfect.

I rented a 4R and a 6R. The top was snug on the 4R but the overfit was perfect. I'm 5' 8" and wore 3.5 in heels. The length in the front was a few inches off the gown and my shoes were showing. Rent the Long if you want the hem to touch the floor. I didn't have issues dancing in it or with anyone stepping on the short train. It has an inner zipper and and outer zipper and I didn't tug at the dress at all to keep it up.

Where do I start and what to say that others haven't said already :) It was such a comfortable dress to wear because I didn't have to worry about anything other than going up and down the stairs.. Yes, you are constricted but the rest of it makes up for that I loved it and wished that I could keep it. Yes, it was long but I love long dresses. Picture was taken with no heels on and in size 10L (Thank you RtR for the back up size!). I fit in both 8L and 10L. 10L was a bit more big on top but I didn't mind. I had to take off the bra to zip up the last half inch of the 8L size. A friend said that it looked better in 8L and I liked the extra room in 10L. Fabric felt so rich and thick, I felt beautiful in it. Wish that I could rent it again just to wear it more!

I wore this dress in University of South Carolina's homecoming pageant--and I won runner up! It's the highest quality dress I've ever worn, and SO beautiful. Very form-fitting and flattering, and makes your body look a million miles long! For pageants, etc, it is perfect. BUT I wouldn't recommend it for a prom/dance or anything where dancing is involved because the material is very heavy and you won't have a large range of movement in it. But such a gorgeous dress!

It was a little big in the hips and waist but I LOVE, LOVE, LOVED it!!!!! I was the Bell of the BALL!!! LOL!!! :)

Online, I was not sure about this dress. I thought it was pretty, but I was not sure that I could pull it off. Fortunately, I was able to try it on in person and that was when I fell in love with it. Although having a full bust caused some issues with sizing, the dress looked beautiful. This dress is stunning. It is such a classy and elegant gown. I could not have picked a better dress for my senior prom. So many people complimented me on my dress during pictures and throughout the night. I could not stop smiling. The Catherine Gown is my favorite dress to date and I couldn't have been any more pleased with my experience. Thank you RTR!

Many people can be nervous that the dress cannot be hemmed but I did not have that much of a problem with it. I just wore bigger heels because I'm short. One issue that I had was that when I went to order my dress they didn't have my size so I ordered a zero and it was extremely tight across my chest the entire night, I wish that I would've been able to try the two. But I still looked like a million dollars in this dress. I would suggest reserving your dress and that extra size way ahead of time so that you can definitely have it. Thanks RTR.

Because I am short, the dress was a little too long for me, even with 4.75" heels! However, I made it work and felt like a princess at the Oscars, and I received many compliments, even from celebrities! I am glad I ordered a size 0 because this fit nicely against my petite frame. My normal dress size is a 2, and if I had ordered this size, it would have been too big on me. The one downfall is that when I walked up stairs to attend an Oscar-party, this was difficult to do because the fabric is not loose and the train is pretty heavy. I had to lift my dress up a little in order to not fall while walking up the stairs. In essence, the gown is lovely and it fit me perfectly. It even showed off my little shape. :-) Thank you Rent The Runway for making my night spectacular!

It has a corset and its really not made for women with big boobs. I would not recommend this dress for hour glass shaped women. It looks beautiful in person and the fabric is thick

The event was a Gala to raise money for Juvenile Diabetes (JDRF). I liked the dress and it zipped up just fine, but the torso on the dress was an inch too long for me so it bunched. Since it didn't lay well it didn't have a good "fit look" to it on me. I tried it on with 3 inch heels and it was probably close to an inch too long on me. It has a built in bustier so it doesn't require a bra with it as you feel supported and the dress doesn't shift either.

I wore this dress to a masquerade ball. I ordered 8L and 10L, as I usually wear size 8, but I ended up wearing 10L since it does run a little tight in the chest area. So if you are blessed with large breasts this dress might not zip all the way up. Overall great first experience with RTR. I will definitely will be renting a dress from them again!

The dress is snug, with a hidden corset, so it's not necessarily the easiest to sit down in - but the bodice is beautiful, the way it flares out to a subtle train is very glamorous, and I loved the subtle gold. A tiny bit short, but that happens when you're a giant.

For a dress that retails this expensive, I was expecting WOW. Instead, I thought it was meh. It's a great, beautiful, heavy fabric with a cool overall cut, but the fit was unflattering on my body. I have a really broad rib cage, and this has an interior corset but zipped just fine. But, it did nothing for my figure or bust. And, the corset sits right into your natural waist line, which was a bit uncomfortable. All that said, let me tell you how GREAT RTR was... they gave me this dress as a backup when my first choice was unavailable. It was one of three choices and was a dead third.

I received this dress as part of a VIP Showroom Experience for loyal RTR customers. This gown is beautifully constructed. Definitely FEELS like a $4,000 dress... but I think that's also part of it's problem. The material is a tapestry type fabric, lined in tafetta with two zippers in the back... making it very thick (and possibly hot). There is boning in the bodice - corset style in the seams... so it's not the kind of strapless gown you're going to have to lift up all night long... but because of the structured style of it... it doesn't really wrap or conform to your body. It's not for curvy girls. I'm a size 6 in pants so I ordered the 8. It fit in the hip area, but was big in the waist and chest area - and since the material is so thick and structured, it wasn't flattering at all... made me look like I don't have a waist. So if you're curvy and can fill out the top more than I can... you might feel too constricted. It's got a beautiful tail to it - but this would probably be best for an event without a lot of dancing because I can see it getting stepped on all night. So while it's a beautiful gown - I probably wouldn't rent it because it just wasn't flattering on my body.

The fit is perfect and comfortable in every way! So classy; beautiful fabric. Hits the floor in just the right length (no tripping). I wore it to a black tie event in Las Vegas and had many compliments on how stunning the dress was.

I wore this to my boyfriend's Battalion Ball and was so happy with the fit, color, material, cut... basically everything about it! I wore at least 3" heels and it was a very long dress, but since I'm only 5'4 I'll bet that makes it a decent choice for taller ladies as well. Highly recommend!

I usually wear a size 2 and I ordered both the 2R and the 0R after reading some reviews that this dress ran a bit large. I ended up wearing the 2R and it fit perfectly. I loved this dress and got so many compliments on it!

This dress was everything the pictures puts it out to be, unfortunately the only down size was that it was too short. I am 5'6" and there was no way I could even wear flats with it, it was just too short. So make sure to measure the length of the hem from the point it tells you too, I missed that detail! Other than that, the fit was amazing, I wore the size 10, typical for me, it was a little tight in the chest area, but I am also a 36DD up there, so most dresses have that usual problem. Other than that, I would recommend wearing this to your next fancy night out! Stunning, and absolutely flattering on!

Unfortunately I wanted this dress but it had damage to it, so they sent me a different one. :( RTR was great about it though they let me pick any dress I wanted as a replacement, with no limit. That made me happy.

The photos of this dress do not do it justice. The fabric is really thick and beautiful, the gold looks extra special. I wore it with a statement necklace, which is definitely needed on pale skin, since otherwise this dress might wash you out. It was easy to wear and accessorize, and is definitely very formal.

This dress fit well. I ALWAYS run in to problems with dresses being too short for me but not with this dress! I was even able to wear heels and the dress was long enough! It was tight in the chest area for me but a little bunching occurred in the midsection! Overall this dress was great and I got tons of compliments!

I wore a 0L because the fit of the 2R was off on the waist. The chest can be a little constricting as well as overall shape of the dress, it's fitted. I still danced and had a great time. I got tons of compliments. Accessories paired with dress were pearl earrings and pearl bracelets.

This gown is absolutely stunning. I planned on wearing it to the Emmy's and it would have been the perfect gown for that. HOWEVER....according to the reviews and fit description it ran tight in the bust and other areas so I decided to get it in a size up from my normal size and a size up from THAT as my back up. Especially because I am actually a 34F I wanted to play it safe. This dress is true to size IF you are apple or athletic and generally have a medium sized waist in comparison to your bust. As mentioned, my bust is 34F and I have a 28" waist, 36' hips. I am 5'4" and a 6R would have fit me perfectly. WIth that being said- if you get the correct size the gown itself is so stunning and well worth the listed rental price. It looks exactly like it does in the picture with the model. The fabric is gorgeous and its lighter than you would expect (in weight, not color). Its very sturdy and has a double zipper with an internal corset to help hold it up, which is great. How can you go wrong with a Carolina Herrera? Its classic, elegant, stunning, and will make you feel like a celebrity. On a side note RTR was fabulous re helping me with the sizing issue. I ended up wearing another rental gown that I had ordered for the extra 25$ look. Thank you RTR for being my fairy godmother. :)
