This is such a beautiful and elegant dress! It's sweet and feminine without being girlish. The black lace accents are lovely and the neck and back line create intrigue while still being tasteful. As others have said, the waist is TIGHT. I'm generally between a 4/6 and the 6 definitely would've been more comfortable.

The word I would use to describe this dress is glamorous. I wore it to a black-tie wedding in January and it was perfect for the occasion; I received compliments all evening. The gold detailing throughout is stunning and the skirt had the perfect amount of twirl once we hit the dance floor. Also really appreciated the lace paneling in the front to counteract the otherwise plunging neckline. It does run a little small so was very grateful to have the backup size 4 on hand! Would absolutely rent again!

I'm in my late 50's. Wore this dress as my mother-of-the-bride attire at our (only) daughter's wedding. Not too matronly but not too "young-looking". I usually wear either a 4R or 6R so ordered both these sizes. Ended up going with the 6R as 4R was a bit too snug around the waistband (as others have stated). Was also a bit longer than tea length but I didn't mind that at all. As others have said, the zipper was tricky to get up right at the waistband so definitely needed help with that. It's a gorgeous dress & wedding guests were raving about it!

I loved everything about this dress. If you love lace and a form fitting but elegant dress choose this one! I found that I wasn't able to zip it up so I'm going to be trying a 4R. Interesting enough I didn't fill out the chest area but I found my circumference of my chest to my back was too small.

Fits just a tiny bit snug, but overall very comfortable and elegant. I got so many compliments on this and I could wear a regular bra with it! Yay! It was perfect for a NYE concert at my workplace.

I was instantly in love with this dress and felt it was the perfect look as a guest to a mid-October wedding. From the other reviews I knew to be wary of the zipper - and yes, that zipper is a beast to get through the waistband! Make sure you have help! I originally wanted to wear a size 4R (my usual size) but it wasn't available for the dates so I took my chances on a 2R with a 0 (!!) as a backup. The waistband for the 2R JUST fit for me to make it throughout the night. However, the sleeves felt oversized on me, so not sure which size would have really been right, as surely the 4R would've slipped down more. This dress is actually sneakily structured, which probably explains such a particular fit for a particular body type (long and limber with a narrow waist and a medium-large bust), but also made it very easy to wear without needing a bra, and I could let loose on the dancefloor without worry. Ultimately, it really is a knockout look, even if it doesn't fit 110% perfectly. I received many compliments throughout the night... the material and details are beautiful, and the style is both unique and timeless. I would consider renting it again in the future.

Little loose on the shoulders but very comfortable and beautiful.

I'm 5'8 155 lbs. I'm smaller in the waist than hips. Just like other reviewers, I had a very very very hard time with the zipper. Maybe if I had someone to help it would have been easier?? And the waistband has zero give. Otherwise I think I could have fit in the size 6 if there was a little stretch. The arms w/the 8 do want to slide off the shoulder a little too. But aside from all that, I LOVED the dress. It was all worth it! The material was nice the color was stunning. Many compliments.

This dress is very flattering! So glad they send a second size because the waist has ZERO stretch to it under the bust. Didn’t have to wear a bra because of the boning which was great. Altogether loved it and highly recommend!

This dress fit well, I probably could have done a size 12 but the other reviews made me worry it would not fit. The top was large on me but nothing some fitting tape could not fix.

Even more pretty in person! I wore the size 4 and the waist has absolutely no stretch, but it worked for me. I had no issues with the zipper like other reviews mentioned.

This dress is beautiful and nicely constructed. The drape is flattering - I just had a baby a few months ago and was very comfortable in this. The lace inserts are more see-through than I was expecting so it would have been a little risqué for the event I was planning to wear it to (an attorney dinner for my law firm). The waist has no give, so I would have been the 4 rather than the 2, which would have fit a little better in the chest but wouldn't have been comfortable zipped.

I wore the 6R. I concur with the observations from the other reviews. Waist band around the rib cage is tight. Zipper was almost impossible to get close even with help. The dress was not too small, the fabric is just thicker around the waist band and that’s where the zipper gets stuck. I rubbed dry candle wax on the zipper and that did the trick to get it to close. The sleeves are a tad loose, so it’s not a great dress for dancing.

Wouldn’t zip up all the way, so had to wear a cardigan over it, but otherwise, gorgeous and perfect for my black-tie event.

I'm a 4 bordering on a 2 and the 2 fit my waist snugly, but it fit. As others mentioned, the zipper was nearly impossible both to zip up and unzip. Dress length is a bit of a watch out as it caught on my heels a few times. Lastly, the lace details around the bodice is sheer so you can't wear a regular bra with it. I opted for no bra and was fine. There were thin bra cups sewn into the dress and it fit snugly enough I didn't worry about it gapping and exposing myself. Gorgeous dress overall!

The waist band is VERY tight. I'm typically a 4-6 depending on the elasticity of the dress I'm wearing. The waist band has no give, but on the other hand the sleeves were falling off. Other than that this dress was absolutely gorgeous.

Rented for a themed 1920's rehearsal dinner. Absolutely loved the dress but the zipper was incredibly stubborn. My husband had to seriously pull on it to get it to zip over the ribbon section. I was able to wear a normal bra even though it did show a little bit (I wore a black one to blend in). Definitely showed off the girls but in a good way. The ribbon under the bust is a bit tight if you're fuller figured but it was too pretty not to wear for the few hours I needed to.

Beautiful fabric and perfect for a black tie. The dress fit well and was forgiving for curvy ladies. I'm short (5 feet) and the dress was floor length for me, but worked out fine.

So as many of the reviews have stated, the waist band is pretty tight. Although I said the dress "fits small" it was really only the waistband. In fact, when I tried on my size-up back-up dress the other parts of the dress seemed too big, even though the waist felt more comfortable. It wasn't tight enough to ruin my night... but a big meal or any bloating could have changed that. I wore a strapless black bra with this dress and did not have issues with the bra showing in the back. The front is actually kind of low cut, but the lace hid/meshed in with the black bra really well. The only other issue was the zipper was very hard to close and not because it was too tight. Not sure why that happens but it got stuck and I felt nervous I might break it. Overall, I really loved this dress and am so happy I rented it! I was sad to send it back!

I had wanted to rent this dress for a while and it did not disappoint! This dress was perfect for a winter wedding. The midi length was perfect since it was cold but the sheer lace cut outs at the top added a unique twist! Loved dancing in this dress all night!

This dress was incredible - perfect for a winter wedding. It was very flattering and classy enough for a church wedding but fun enough to dance in. The dress fit a little small in the bodice where the band is but otherwise was perfect.

Dress fit perfect and received compliments ALL night! However as others have said the band does NOT give so no room to expand and it definitely requires one (or two) people to get it zipped! If I rented again I might size up one size for more comfort.

The fit in the waist was great, I usually wear a 4 but the 6 fort better in the waist, but the sleeves were a little lose so they would fall a little every now and then but nothing crazy. Loved the gold shimmer of the dress and the lacy front.

Perfect for a November wedding! The color, cut, and black lace details are so gorgeous; I received many compliments all night on how unique and beautiful the dress is. I'm short and curvy, but never felt like I was spilling out of the dress even though it did accentuate my bust...in a flattering way. Would 100% rent again for a fall/winter semi-formal event.

This dress is absolutely gorgeous. Incredible quality, gorgeous details and moves like a dream. I had the most fun twirling in it. It was super comfortable, but the top did get a bit tight after eating and drinking. Overall I would wear it again though, my husband asked if I could keep it!

I got so many complements on this dress, and it was so fun to wear and dance in. I did have to buy a backless bra to wear with it, as the back was just low enough to show a regular bra. However, the bodice of the dress is structured enough that I still felt quite supported. This was my first rental with RTR and it was such a great experience!

I loved this dress! At the time of the affair I was probably around 151 pounds. I'm usually an 8, but sometimes a 6, sometimes a 10, depending on the brand. The 8 fit great. The shoulders slipped a little and the zipper was hard to zip, but I loved this classy, unique dress. I got loads of compliments.

I normally wear a size 4, but was able to wear a 2, probably could have gone either way, but the chest area was a little too big on the 4. I will say the zipper catches and is difficult to zip. I needed a few people to help me, but we got it zipped :)

The lace v does go down quite low so I used an adhesive bra, but could have gotten away without anything probably as the dress has good support on its own. As others have said, the zipper is very stubborn. I had to run a pencil down the zipper to get it to go up and down a bit easier. Other than that the entire dress was fantastic. Very elegant, not too flashy but special and flattering on pear shape!

I am small boned. The bodice of this dress was snug - but not uncomfortably. The fabric was gorgeous, nicely weighted but not heavy. I wore it to an outdoor wedding and the evening was cool - the dress is elegant, perfect for a wedding. Numerous compliments all night long! Literally! Catherine Dean designs beautiful gowns - I would rent another in a heartbeat. Note that the zipper IS tricky as others have mentioned. It was frustrating - I had to enlist a girlfriend to get it zipped.

Like everyone has mentioned the black band/ribbon around the waist does not stretch. I didn't have an issue with this. I preferred it to be tight. I like my dresses to have give below the waist for extra food :) I had plenty of compliments all night and really enjoyed its vintage flair. It is a gold and black dress but honestly even in person I think it comes off more metallic olive green and black than gold. I was fine with it though. Watch your heels in this dress as the pretty fabric can get caught if you aren't careful.

This dress was absolutely perfect for a cocktail/formal optional charity event. The gorgeous detailing had women complimenting me all night. I felt like I was drippin' in gold! I would 1000000% rent this one again! Sizing note: I'm a true 2 in everything I wear, but the 4 was perfect for this one. I'd recommend sizing up if you're unsure!
