This dress is VERY fitted. The lace straps were very loose and had to be pinned down. Overall, very beautiful dress. Loved it.

I have rented from rent the runway A LOT over the years. This is my favorite dress so far. Yes - it runs small. I am normally a 0 or a 2 and the 4 was still snug. But, the fabric is gorgeous, the lining felt like real silk and the color is the perfect shade of red for a wedding - not too bright, perfect amount of sultry. Would absolutely buy this dress if i could!

Fit ran a little small and as noted in other reviews, the waist band can be tight. The zipper is difficult around the waist band, but overall, the dress looked great and I got several compliments all night!

Wore it to a black tie wedding and received compliments all night! Was in the dress for 12+hours and only slight complaint was that the ribbon around the waist has zero stretch so no room for dinner. Normally between 0-2 in nice/formal dresses (00-0 normal clothes) but the 4R fit like a glove. I'm 5'4" and wore 3.5-4" wedges and it was perfect length. Not a problem when I took shoes off for dancing later either. No bra but there are small pad/liners so I was comfortable without one as long as I maintained good posture- otherwise the front would look a little loose or gap. Obsessed with the low back! Lace had a few snags in it on the side and chest but that's to be expected with such delicate material. It wasn't noticeable to anyone other than me, or in pictures. Color is rich burgundy, great for fall. Would definitely recommend!

I rented this gown for a Symphony Gala, it was a great choice! Love the soft lace over beige silk, feels very comfortable to wear. The v cut is pretty deep. Overall it's a very elegant dress, got compliments all night!

The dress definitely runs small on the waist because the band does not stretch. I am 5'0, so even with the 2 petite size I had to wear 4 inch heels to prevent the dress from dragging on the floor. Seriously amazing dress, so unique and gorgeous, sad to see it go.

I worse this to a military ball and I absolutely loved it. The color and detail were beautiful. The v-neck is classy and the low back give the dress a little something extra. As other ladies have mentioned, this dress runs small. I usually wear a 2 and the 4R fit perfectly. The petite size was not available but at 5'2 and 4" wedges (as suggested, thank you), the 4R was perfect. The band was fitted to my waist but not unbearably tight. I have small to no bust and I'm petite, so it was helpful to use fashion tape and a sticky bra to keep things in place. The dress was everything I imagined it to be and am so happy to have worn it!

I rented this for my mom, but was so jealous when I saw the dress in person. It really is breathtaking. About the fit; length was perfect, she's 5.4 ft tall (3 or 4" heels). She's usually a size 6; 34 C chest, and size 27 or 4 pant size. I read other reviews and they were right about the dress being small. She wore the next size option we ordered- size 8 -which was perfect. The fabric, which is a very delicate mesh with embroidery, has a few snags here and there... Didn't really bother us, nothing noticeable. We still give it 5 stars, and would rent it again!

Beautiful dress. I wore the 6L and I am 5'8''. Dress was a bit short to wear with a higher heel. Dress came with a few snags but nothing super noticeable. There was a rip on the side beneath the zipper. Tons of compliments all night. Super small waistband so definitely order a size up as an extra.

I usually wear a 6 dress size and that was what i chose to wear. The 6r with flats fit perfectly. Length and all. The zipping past the waist band is difficult, but once zipped it was very comfortable.

What a beautiful dress! I had a night full of comfort and compliments, things that rarely go together. The dress stood out against the satin and sparkles of most prom dresses and was extremely flattering for my skin tone. I was able to wear flip flops all night with no problem (I wear a 34D and have an hourglass body type). The straps were too long for dancing, so I safety pinned them up after photos to avoid excessive cleavage. Overall, senior prom was fabulous with this dress!

This dress was absolutely stunning. I am 5'4 and 115 pounds with a 34 C bust and it fit me perfectly. I usually wear a size zero or two so I ordered a two, thinking I would fit into that, but the dress ran VERY small so I went with a 4R which was perfect. The dress was feminine, unique, and it fell perfectly, highlighting all of the right places. I highly highly recommend it---I got compliments all night!

This dress was stunning. The zipper is very hard to get past the band but it fit very well and I was able to wear it comfortably for eight hours for a gala. I ended up wearing a bra with it as the straps weren't tight enough. The low back is beautiful but makes it hard to wear a bra.

This was such a great dress for my college alumni black tie event! It was super comfortable and fit really well, I did need to wear a strapless backless sticky bra because it's much lower in the back than I thought. I would totally recommend this to anyone I loved it so much I wanted to keep it!!

This dress garnered compliments all night long, from young and old, women and men. I loved the color, and the beautiful details on the overlay, and the fit was perfection. I ordered the long length, which worked out well with 3" heels. The back of the dress was also a nice surprise, and took the dress into sexy territory. Easy to eat and dance in!

Gorgeous gorgeous gown! The color is a deep wine color and is so pretty in person. Received so many compliments on this dress! Would recommend ordering one size up as the waist and bust parts fit snug. Length was great! I'm 5'2 and wore 4.5-5 inch heels and it fell perfectly at my shoes.

Old Hollywood Glam + Feminine Class = Perfection. This dress could not have possibly been more glorious. It hugged my curves and accentuated everything perfectly. The silk lining felt smooth against my skin and shimmered just enough from underneath the red lace- which was dainty and simply gorgeous. It was the perfect length for my 5'10" frame- I paired it with simple flats to keep it feeling the longest possible. There are light bra pads in the chest of the dress, so I didn't wear a bra with it (but I've a large chest) - so it was a touch tight there and right where the ribbon went over the zipper it was tough to zip up. My only issues were that it runs small in the rib cage so I would order your larger size and a size up if you are concerned about that-- otherwise the hips/thighs were fine- and that the silk straps underneath the lace straps kept coming undone- though it seems you could go without them; it didn't seem like they were necessary. But all of that was secondary to how amazing it looked. Endless compliments all night- and I honestly felt like a Hollywood movie star on the red carpet. The $15.00 fake fur stole from Forever21 even looked like it cost a fortune because this dress was so classy!! Thank you RTR for making me feel like a goddess!!

I absolutely loved this dress and got compliments from wedding guests all night! However, it does run about a size smaller so I spent the night snugged into the dress and a bit uncomfortable. I would recommend getting the dress a size bigger!

Everything fit perfectly just around the band on the dress was tight and very hard to zip up I had a hard time with the straps but a little double sided tape worked wonders !

Fit: Waist was REALLY tight as stated by other reviewers and shoulder straps were also long/loose. Pros: Loved the color and the fact that I was able to wear this dress with no bra!! (in fact it looked better without a bra, just used lots of double sided tape) Material was also heavy enough to ensure it didn't blow away with the wind however not too heavy to make me feel warm or uncomfortable. The length was also perfect to wear with heels, which is hard to find for me because I am on the shorter side. Cons: The waist is so tight that it took me about 5 or 6 attempts at zipping up the side when getting dressed because the zipper kept on getting stuck. The straps were also a little long so they kept on sliding off my shoulders all night (tried to secure with double sided tape however it didn't hold well because of the material).

The gown was GORGEOUS! However... Buyer beware, it runs REALLY small! I typically wear a 4 sometimes 2... This dress about strangled me at a 6. While I loved how it looked, I could barely breathe after I ate dinner. Order 2 sizes up!

I wore this dress for a pageant and felt absolutely amazing in it. The dress embroidery is detailed, and the color is a rich red just like in the photos. The fabric underneath the top layer is a very silky/shiny champagne color (see additional photos). Overall - the dress is even more beautiful in person. I tried on the gown ahead of time in a RTR store just to be sure it would fit since the reviews have indicated the gown can be a tough fit. The banded waist on this dress does not stretch whatsoever and you may need someone to help zip past the band. The bust of the dress does not stretch either, but since it has moderate coverage, it should allow somewhat for larger busted women. The skirt flows beautifully and when worn with ~4" heels hit the floor perfectly. The champagne colored lining is attached to the gown at the bust but also comes with two thin removable straps to help keep the dress up and keep the red straps on your shoulders. When I received my package, there was only one strap between my gown and the backup size gown. I called customer service and they could not locate more straps to send to me but offered options to make up for the missing straps. I ended up using removable tan colored bra straps in their place and it was not noticeable at all! I paired the Slate & Willow Stars Align Earrings with this gown.

This dress definitely runs small! I'm 5'1, 95lb, 28DD bust, 23in waist, 34in hips and usually a 00. The 2R was a little loose in the bust, fit snug in the waist and just fine in the hips. I had to put in a few stitches at the lower back to make sure the straps stayed up and it was a little long even with 5in heels, but otherwise wearing it was a dream! Just make sure to go up a size. And I would recommend that petite ladies avoid the regular sizes unless you want to wear astronomically tall shoes.

Rented this dress for my senior prom and it was so beautiful!!! I got a ton of compliments. I wore pretty high heels and it was the perfect length for me. The only thing about this dress is the stubborn zipper and how tight the little band is. The dress as a whole fit pretty well but that band does not give at all. Order a size up for sure.

Absolutely lovely dress. Rented the 4L (normally I wear a 2 up top, 4 bottom, 32dd waist 27 hip 38, 5'8"). Like others said, the red waistband is TIGHT, otherwise the fit is fine. Barefoot a few inches of fabric on the ground, perfect for heels. Is too long by a few inches in the shoulders, but that's always an issue for me, probably fine for others. I would definitely recommend sizing up at least 1 size, two if you're not naturally extra slender in the waist.

This dress is gorgeous. The silk lining is beautiful and the lace is exquisite. I wore a 6R, which was the perfect length for 5'4" and 3 inch heels. The silk waist part is really tight but not too uncomfortable. I was, however, really bummed because neither size I ordered came with the straps it was supposed to. I was adjusting the top all night. I'm surprised at the lack of customer service because of RTR's reputation. After a rude phone call, I sent an email and still haven't heard back. I'd recommend planning for this and getting extra straps if you rent this. Overall it was gorgeous, classy, and great for a black tie Christmas Party.

I unfortunately did not get to wear this dress to my event. This is a really pretty dress... but it is definitely not for those with any sort of hips or a thicker rib cage. I am typically a size Small/Medium or 4/6. The dress would not zip all the way up. The band across the middle makes it very difficult to zip up. Also, the buttons will not be able to button up if you can't zip it up... so, unfortunately this dress did not work for me. But, a very pretty dress. Not a lot of give around the waist, but the bottom was flowy and really pretty.

It's a really beautiful dress. I felt so glamorous all night. I took the AP Euro test right before my prom so I had very little time to get ready, this dress really doesn't need much to look great. The main thing was that the waist was so small, so it was hard to get on, though once on, it wasn't uncomfortable. Also there was a giant wine stain on the bottom of the dress which sucked, but it blended into the overlay kinda. I would definitely rent again, sans wine stain.

Gorgeous dress, and well structured, though runs small. The lining does not stretch, so make sure to size up and wear a slip. I wore a sticky bra, but you could also go braless with this dress. I will say that I expected the fabric to be a little more luxurious...in person it seemed a bit cheap. Though, my biggest complaint is that the lace got caught on my heels all night, and it could have been very easy to trip. You'd have better luck with a wedge heel or a flat.

This dress fit oddly. It was both too large and too small. I have a very hourglass figure, 39-26-41, and this dress fit fine in the bust, was much too large in the waist, and was tight in the hips. The waist is short, so it appeared more empire waist. The stylist I spoke to said it was loose in the hips, but it is actually very straight. If your body type is straight, then this dress might work for you. I love Catherine Deane dresses, I just wish this one fit better.

As all the other reviewers mention, this dress runs small. I ordered a 2 and a 6 (no 4 available), and the 6 fit like a glove. I typically wear a size 2. I'd highly suggest getting double-sided tape to keep the shoulder straps on without constantly having to adjust. The tape worked like a charm.

Very tiny in the waist, no wiggle room. That said, it's a stunning dress! Would order for holidays in size up.

Gorgeous dress and unique color - stands out in the sea of black that you see at most formal events. I am pretty much always a "6" but this was surprisingly tight in the torso/ribcage. Looked fine, but felt a little constricted. Hips and waist were fine. Length of the 6L was perfect for my height with 3-4in heels. There is not a photo of the back of the dress yet on RTR, but it is a really lovely, fairly deep V. Wearing a bra might be challenging due to the V, but I found I didn't need one as the slim torso made a corseting effect and the fabric is thick enough for no show-thru. I don't have a photo on me, but will try to add an upload to this review soon. Overall, I was very pleased with this dress!
