This was my backup dress. It was comfortable and a little shorter so I wore it instead. I especially liked how the flare at the bottom moved when I walked. Since I'm petite and not used to wearing very high heels, I was glad this was not so long that I would have trouble walking. I would definitely recommend this dress. I had trouble loading photos for review so they may not appear correctly.

I am 5'6" & 130 lbs. I ordered 4 & 6. 4 fit perfectly. I did wear NuBra (Ultralite)as was suggested by RTR. Back of dress does drag close to floor. I wore really high heels. 6 was way too long & loose fitting.

This was my first time using RTR and I was so impressed. My dress arrived with plenty of time to the hotel for my black tie event. The dress was gorgeous and fit perfectly. It is a midnight blue and the material is on the heavier side. I opted for the 8R as I'm only 5'3" and wore 3" heels which worked well with the length. As others have mentioned the abs portion of the bodice is form fitting but nothing that control top hose can't handle. I'm definitely going to use RTR for my next event.

I got a long and it was long. The train was gorgeous but I did get stepped on a few times. Fabric is light. If you're worried about your mid section try a size up,although it does run true to size, you can't wear spanx with the open back.

This dress is absolutely stunning! It is a conservative, yet sexy dress! It was so comfortable all night long. I am 5'5" and ordered the 4R, it does have a little train so make sure to wear higher heels. Also, the pictures make it look black, but it is actually a beautiful navy blue. Absolutely loved this dress! I also rented the Ella Carter Cameron necklace to go with it! It was the perfect accessory.

The dress is form-fitting but flattering. There are several layers of lining that made the dress feel secure - with Spanx underneath I felt totally comfortable and not too exposed in the abdomen region! I was worried because I really thought I needed a 12L but the size wasn't available - took a gamble and ordered a 10L and a 14L and the 10L worked out great. The only real difference I noticed in fit between the 10L and 14L was that the 14 gaped a bit at the low back. Long was a perfect length for me (5'10.5") with 3 inch heels.

I wore this dress for my senior prom and I received TONS of compliments throughout the night. I wanted to go for something classy and simple, and this was the perfect choice. The trail is beautiful. I'm 5'2" and wore 3 inch heels for this and the dress was a bit long, but it was still easy to walk in it throughout the evening. TIPS: - I HIGHLY recommend wearing spandex/spanx that would fully cover the stomach. The dress hugs a bit around that area. - I got a backless bra for this dress from Victoria's Secret. It stayed secured throughout the entire evening. - A statement necklace is a MUST

I absolutely loved this dress. It was super comfortable and fit perfectly-- it had more shape than the photo leads on. I paired it with the Slate & Willow Accessories Mykonos Necklace.

This dress is simple, yet has beautiful and unexpected details to send it over the top. The fit was true to size but as the other reviewers stated, it does run small across your tummy. The material is stretchy so it is very comfortable. The train on the dress was to do for! The best part? It's actually a beautiful navy color. Even prettier in person. Would rent this dress again.

I wore this dress for my friend's junior Prom and it was gorgeous! It was easy to dance in and looked great for photos. It was a little tight on the hips and stomach, but overall, it was a great fit and the back was very elegant and classy! I'd definitely recommend this if you want to look classy and timeless

This dress was perfect for the award show. It fit perfectly I ordered the 2L and 4R the 2L fit my body perfectly. It was just the right size for flats but might need a longer size if you want to wear heels. I also thought it was black but it was navy. It also has a little train on the back

It fit perfectly, and stretched just enough that it wasn't too tight! Wonderful dress.

Fit was perfect. Body-hugging but not tight. Easy to move and walk in. Fabric draped beautifully. Navy is a complimentary alternative to harshness of black. Couple of notes: 1. Nubra Ultraligt self-adhesive bra proved ideal undergarment. I am "A" cup size. So overall fit might be quite different for larger bust size. 2. The dress does have a little bit of a train that is not apparent in the web site picture. Small enough to easily manage, but important to know when thinking about venue. 3. Navy is beautiful. In a low or soft lighting becomes indistinguishable from black. So if your goal is to stand out from a sea of black in that kind of setting, you'll want a bigger color variation.

This dress fits true to size. I wore a nubra with it. No other bra would work for sure. If you have any kind of belly you'll want to wear spanx as this dress hangs very tight against the belly. The small train is very dramatic and easy to hold up while dancing. I loved the opening in the back. Beautiful without being revealing.

I didn't receive the back-up size, so was relieved that the dress fit true to size. Easy to wear bra-less, though if I were to rent this again I would wear a backless bra. When ordering, I thought it was black, but it is really more of a deep blue color. The length would have worked for me in flats, with a bit of a train at the back, but it still looked nice with 3" heels, with the bottom of the dress a couple inches off the floor. You don't need much for accessories, and make sure to do an updo if you have long hair so you can show off the back!

I loved the fit of this dress. I'm almost always an 8 and being 5'9 I got the long and it fit perfect. I had issues with the zipper not working on the first one but RTR saved the day as always and sent me another. The dress is actually navy but basically looks black in most light. It does have a train on it which was kind of annoying when dancing but it looked beautiful. The cut out in the back of the dress was my favorite part which I unfortunately did not get a good picture of. It does not show too much and is not cut too low. The dress was elegant and simple and worked perfect for my event. I didn't find that it laid too tightly across my stomach like some other reviewers said and I almost felt like I could have worn the 6 but maybe then it would have been a problem. All in all definitely recommend!

I didn't get to try this on until it was too late to switch... Generally it fit alright but both the 0R and 2R were really short (the 2 was shorter than the 0!). I've ordered this designer before and those dresses were always long, even with 5 inch heels. But the dress looked great otherwise. I barely accessorised and I love being able to do that! The dress stood out on its own.

The only negative I would say about this dress is that it hugs the midsection. I'm 5'9" and 145lbs. The length was perfect.

Perfect for a formal occasion in which I was aiming for classy and elegant! It is a bit snug around the waist, so definitely not for someone trying to hide anything in this area. If the 4R had been available I may have worn it, just since it was a little tight in the middle, making me want to suck in the whole evening;-) But overall I'm very happy with my pick!

Hugs through the middle and fans at the end. A perfect dress for a formal occasion, I wore it to my law school formal. I received so many compliments on it! On ordering, I would go with a regular and a long...the long with heels was appropriate for me at my height!

I felt SO elegant in this dress and just the right amount of sexy. Wore this to law school Barrister's Ball. It was a bit long (even with 3.5" heels) that's the only reason I didn't give it 5 stars. Note: it does look black in a dim ballroom -- my bf's suit is navy (also there's a filter on this pic that faded the colors a bit). The weight of the material gives it a drapey, elegant flow and the train - my goodness! I kinda wish floor length dresses with trains were appropriate for everyday garb. ;) It is pretty form-fitting through the mid-section so if you're insecure about your tummy I probably would go a size up. Definitely super happy with this rental!

This dress was perfect! I wish I had gotten more photos in it. It is a heavy fabric which made it look, feel, and wear beautiful! It was warm enough to wear to an indoor event in the winter. I would highly recommend this, I wish I could wear it again!

I ordered the 6 and the 8L. I was surprised that the 8L you could still see my feet with a small 2 inch heel as I am only 5'6. I usually wear a size 6, but the 6 was tight around my waist. The 8 felt more comfortable but was loose in the back where it zippered. Also, the train in the back was a lot longer than I expected. Overall, this dress was absolutely perfect for the black tie wedding that I attended. I received so many compliments. The back of it is stunning and very classy.

I LOVED this dress so much. I wore it to a charity black tie event and honestly felt so beautiful. I received so many compliments. They didn't have an 8R available and I'm only 5'4 so I didn't think the petite was going to be short but it was. I made it work with nude pink heels and a statement necklace to match. The front is pretty plain so you definitely need a big necklace or something. I was obsessed with the back, soooo elegant! I would definitely rent this again but in the regular length!

This dress fit true to size. I was in a wedding where the color was Navy, and this dress worked perfectly. I am a little taller than average (5'6") and the regular length worked perfectly with a little 2" heel.

This dress was recommended by a Rent the Runway stylist after I revealed my insecurities and said what I did not want in a dress. She nailed it! The dress covered my whole front, but revealed just enough skin in the back to make me feel sexy (and for my hubby to touch)! The petite length trailed the floor, which actually made me feel more like a princess. Nothing was tight, and I loved being able to wear normal underwear. I didn't need a bra, which was another plus (I am a c cup). All in all, I loved this dress!!

Loved it- ended up going with my back up size. Perfect for black tie wedding. 38C bust and didn't need to wear a bra! Length was perfect- wore a ~2-3 inch heel with the dress. Only con is the top of the zipper right around the lower back is a little heavy and didn't stay up straight. Can't tell in photos that it was tipping over.

Before I decided to rent it, I tried it on a Neiman's to make sure it was a good fit- which it was. I'm usually a 4-6 in dresses and that's what I was for this dress too. Now since this dress is form fitting (but overall, flattering) I did decide to wear Spanx. Also, because it is a backless dress and form fitting, I was able to just safety pin my bra to my dress. So I didn't have to worry about buying a backless bra. Overall, I felt classy and confident in this dress. I would 100% recommend it!

Very elegant dress and I received compliments all night. It's comfortable and easy to wear. A little long - there's a bit of a train that I had to be careful not to step on. It also sags a little in the lower back where it zips up. I think I was probably the only one to notice that but probably wouldn't recommend this dress for that reason

This was my first Rent the Runway dress, and I could not have been more pleased. I am 5,2 so went with a petite size which worked with 3 1/2" heels. After reading some of the other reviews I was worried the length would be a problem as most girls commented the dress ran short. The 4R was unavailable to rent as a 2nd option, but for someone my height the 4P hit the floor perfectly. Though I loved the open back style, it did not hug my figure as well as it did the front, but it was not too noticeable. The dress definitely was heavy, but nothing unbearable. For my occasion it worked since the majority of the evening was spent sitting. I would definitely recommend this dress for someone looking for a simplistic color & style. The high neckline was also a nice touch to the dress, and I paired it with a fun necklace.

Loved the dress but they only had a 2Regular and it was definitely not long enough to wear with heels. I'm only 5'5" and the dress didn't cover my feet so I ended up wearing flats. Otherwise, the 2R fit perfectly. Wore a Nubra.

This dress was perfect for a late fall wedding! The front is very conservative, but body-clinging, and the open back gives the dress some character. The fabric is very heavy, so I would recommend only renting for a fall or winter event.

Very comfortable dress with a dramatic yet elegant exposed back. I received a lot of compliments and felt the dress was flattering. The front is pretty bland, it would be better with a v neckline or some embellishment. Definitely requires a statement necklace and backless bra as there was no built in shelf support. I would size down for your backup. I am 5'2" and the length was perfect with 3" heels. Probably not the best dress for dancing as many people got caught in my train.

Rented for my stepdaughters wedding which I also officiated. I never received more complaints on any dress I've ever worn! It was heavy and has a little train in the back which I didn't see in the other pics but it really made the dress. It is so gorgeous and classy! I'm small up top and it was easy to go without a bra and the Fabric thick enough not to show thru. It shows all the curves and imperfections but nothing some low cut spanx can't pull together. I loved it and I would rent it again.
