Simply put, I loved this dress. As others noted, it's a bit of a color changing dress... sometimes it looks grey, but others it looks navy! The event I was going to had lots of bright colors, so I incorporated yellow shoes into my outfit, which I knew was going to work with either way the color of the dress appeared. The sleeve length was perfect so that the sequins didn't bother my skin. I was very comfortable and the dress gave a little bit of stretch, so even as I ate dinner, it was still perfect!!

I wore this dress to an outdoor evening wedding. Ordered my regular size, but it had plenty of room in the hips and the waist to be comfortable while seated. This was also my first time using rent the runway. Could not believe how easy it was. Look forward to the next occasion I can rent a dress.

I will be wearing this dress to a President's dinner after giving a Baccalaureate address. The 14W was plenty big enough for my 5'7" 200lb frame, without needing any support. The pix are me trying it on right out of the box. Sleeves are a nice length. I know others have said not to wear with black shoes, but I tried it one with mine and it looks just fine. I'm pleased. I look like a grownup, but not like a grandma.

The dress has simple construction making it easy to wear. It had a little stretch so it was easy to sit and cut a rug on the dance floor. Great length and color. The Navy color was gorgeous but it didn't complicate the shoe selection. Ultimately found a dark gray that worked but black stood out. Nude was another good option that I tried.

I was so pleased with my dress! Got so many compliments when I wore it for my daughters engagement party!

This was a pretty great style! The color is, actually navy, not black. But it is a great substitute for a black dress. The sequins are a lot of fun and not overwhelming. The length is great and the fabric has some stretch to it. It's very easy to move around and would be great for a wedding. It wouldn't hinder your ability to dance through the night! The lace is very comfortable as well!

Dress fit great - went with the smaller size; loved the navy - great for the Holiday party; the sequins would occasionally catch some of the lace on the sleeves which is the only reason the dress got 4 stars; loved that the arms were "covered".

The sequins have a matte finish, so you get more shimmer instead of sparkle, which is what I wanted. I ordered the 16w and 18w and wore the 16 and was very comfortable. Dress was in good condition and easy to return. I will be a returning customer.

I had ordered a completely different dress for a wedding the next day but that dress was too large. I had received it at 7:30 p.m. on Friday night, so the really helpful Stylist got busy ordering this new dress for me. I didn't take time to look at any of the descriptions, so based on the picture, I was expecting the dress to be black. It's navy, which was fine, just not what was expected. It was comfortable, yet elegant. I didn't give this dress five stars because one of the hanger straps was broken, so it kept falling off of the hanger.

I rented this dress at the last minute with very few available options. I was nervous that it would look matronly from previous reviews but it wasn't. Once i jazzed it up with the earrings and bracelet I felt age appropriate. I also worried how my large arms would fit but they were fine. I do wish it could of been taken in at the waist a little bit I enjoyed my look for the black tie event I attended.

I have been wearing a size 18 for so many years. Last year I started exercising and decided to order the 16 and 18 in case the 18 was a little too big. It turned out that I needed a size 14 which was fabulous. I called up and spoke with a rep, she was wonderful. Sent me out the size 14 for overnight delivery on a Saturday.

I felt stunning in this dress! It was comfortable and darling and everything I wanted! I would definitely rent again. No major worries about the girls being to out there or the dress being too short!

I had originally selected another dress for this occasion, but then my friend told me I had an important role in the bar mitzvah. I decided I needed a dress that would knock everyone's socks off. When I first looked at the dress I thought it might be too formal, but it wasn't it was perfect. I am usually a 16 but always try on the smaller one first and hope it fits. This was one of those times it did and I ended up in the 14. The dress was a perfect fit, it wasn't too tight and hung perfectly. I received so many compliments from everyone at the temple and at the reception. Although this has been the best rental so far here are my warnings for the dress. You may want to wear something under and panty hose. After a long time wearing this you may start to chafe, I had this on for 8 hours and the sequins at the bottom of my dress rubbed against my legs as I sat down. Also be careful not to rub your arms against the rest of the dress. At one point in the night I could not lift my arm, turns out two sequins had gotten caught together. I didn't want to tear the dress so I had my husband fix it. Those are not things though that would stop me from renting the dress again. I loved it.

It fit well. I felt comfortable and didn’t hate the way I looked in it, so that’s a plus. I would definitely rent again.

This was perfect for the occasion - it had some glitz and glam but still was comfortable. I could have worn either the 14 or 16 - the 16 had a little more room in the hips. I liked that it covered my arms and that it required no special undergarments. It's a deep navy, though it looks black in photos. I wore silver sandals and accessories though gold would look good too. Loved getting my selections in the mail from RTR to try on in my home, rather than trolling the mall - and when I called with a question, RTR sent me yet another dress to try. Very pleased!

I rented this dress for a wedding. After reading the reviews I took the advice of other renters and sized down, but got my usual size as a back up. The size down was perfect! I wore some spanks underneath to smooth me out and felt wonderful in it. The length was perfect, I just wish the sleeves had been a little longer! Majorly plus- you can wear a regular bra with it! I just shifted my straps to the sides a little to make sure they were covered. I got compliments from everyone and felt so comfortable dancing the night away. Also, the dress is more of a navy blue. Some people said they thought it was gray/black, but it's definitely blue!

I could have worn the 16, however I don't like anything fitted on me so I went with the 18. Beautiful dress. I just wore black heels with it.

I wore Spanx under and a waist cincher type thing which was uncomfortable as hell, but hey, it's the price ya gotta pay. The dress was comfortable. I thought the sequins may be irritating but it really wasn't. This was my 1st time renting from RTW and I definitely would do it again. Regarding the dress, I received several compliments on it. It's really really deep/dark navy almost to the point of looking black in the right lighting. I wore a black shimmery heel, gold chandelier earrings and a long gold sparkly necklace. I carried a goldish/silver sparkly hand bag.

The dress fit well though a little large. Very comfortable fabric. The color is more blue than the image online. I would highly recommend this dress for any cocktail party or other dressy event.

Only pros there are no cons that I can think of.

this dress was fantastic!! I really cannot say enough about it. I am pretty tall (5'9" barefoot) so I thought it might be too short, but it hit just above the knee and was a modest length for a formal holiday event at my work. I also felt sexy enough to wear it out after the work party ended. I was incredibly comfortable all night long. Bonus was that the sleeves looked gorgeous without ever feeling matronly. I was worried they might be tight (they are not!) or look "old" but they looked lovely with the dress. It's a true navy, though the model photo looks black. And it really stands out in person. so keep in mind you will get second looks and compliments! I loved this dress and had no complaints!

The dress was great - midnight blue, not black. The sequins were not as sparkly as the site photos, which was fine, but just know they don't stand out that much. I had the 16W also and could have worn that, but the 18W felt more comfortable.

This dress was very comfortable . A 14W fit while a 16 in another style did not. If you have a full bust, go for the W size. but you can't request them online - you have to select a dress and then view the sizes

The dress fit very well and made me feel good. I ordered a 16 W and an 18W because I wasn't sure which would fit better. The 16W was great . It was even a tad bigger, but it was comfortable. The only problem was the sleeves sometimes got caught onto the sides of the dress. I received a lot of compliments. I also rented the silver clutch, the earrings and the bracelet. My only complaint is that the 4 thin bracelets wouldn't go over my hand, so I didn't wear them. I was able to wear the 4 wider bracelets & they looked great.

I wore this dress for a formal business gala and it was very comfortable. I'm 5'2 so it was right at my knee. I highly recommend. I received comments all night.

My only complaint is that obviously someone before me had stretched it out some in the hip area. It was fun to wear and I got a ton of compliments

Dress definitely runs large. I usually wear a regular size 14 and the 14w was a little boxy. I had to pin it in the back. The arms were great... covered but not matronly.

This dress was perfect for the evening wedding I went to in November. Sadly I did not get a picture of the whole dress, but you can see the navy color with the pretty details here! It fit a little big, but I think that's my fault for not ordering a size down instead of a size up! Overall I really liked it!

I ordered the dress in the 18, after reading many reviews of the dress I decided to order the second dress at a size smaller, 16. I ended up wearing a 16. The dress is very comfortable! I had many compliments on the dress, and I feel good wearing it. I appreciated all the extra review & input from the other renters, finding out that it is actually a navy blue dress versus the black that it appears in the model picture was extremely helpful in making my decision! I highly recommend the dress, and I highly recommend reading all reviews under each dress you may potentially rent. The input is so helpful and helps make a fantastic decision for you. One of my favorite features of rent the runway.

The fit of this dress was perfect, very true to size. I find I need to size up from my usual 18 when it is a sheath dress or form fitting dress. As this was a sheath, I went with a 20 and it fit perfectly. Adrianna Pappell tends to run pretty true to size, and this was good to know, as this dress did not have any give or stretch to it. I was concerned it might look a little matronly, but I received compliments on the beautiful detailing of the dress all evening. The sleeve detail was gorgeous and eye-catching. Very glittery, even without sequins! Overall, I was happy with this dress.

Did not wear - chose a full-length dress instead, but it looked great on and was comfortable. Fit was even a bit roomy, but not noticeable.

The dress was a little roomy in the waist but was a perfect fit in the hip area. (I have a little bigger booty than average.) Tons of compliments all night. It was not scratchy at ll as some sequin dresses tend to be.

True to size

I rented three different dresses for a special weekend to celebrate my 40th birthday. I intended to wear two of the dresses but unfortunately, neither of those fit well enough. This was the only dress out of the three that fit. It was my least favorite of the three because as others have pointed out, it's somewhat matronly like a mother of the bride type of dress. The dress itself was in good shape and it fit so I can't really blame this dress for my disappointment in the fit of the other two dresses.
