Legal terms

BY APPLYING FOR AND PARTICIPATING IN THE RENT THE RUNWAY CITY AMBASSADOR COMMUNITY (“CITY AMBASSADOR COMMUNITY”), YOU AGREE TO BE BOUND BY THESE TERMS, GUIDELINES, AND ALL TERMS INCORPORATED BY REFERENCE, INCLUDING THE RENT THE RUNWAY TERMS OF SERVICE AND THE MANDATORY INDIVIDUAL ARBITRATION REQUIREMENT AND CLASS ACTION AND JURY TRIAL WAIVER CONTAINED THEREIN.  YOU ALSO ACKNOWLEDGE THAT YOU HAVE READ, UNDERSTAND AND CONSENT TO THE RENT THE RUNWAY PRIVACY POLICY, WHICH DESCRIBES HOW WE COLLECT, USE AND SHARE INFORMATION. IF YOU DO NOT AGREE TO THESE TERMS, DO NOT PARTICIPATE IN CITY AMBASSADOR. 

To become and remain a City Ambassador, you must be at least 18 years of age, an active Rent the Runway, Inc. (“Rent the Runway”) monthly subscriber, and receive an invitation to join from the Rent the Runway team. Participation in the City Ambassador community is at Rent the Runway’s sole discretion, and the program and your participation may be modified or terminated at any time. In certain instances as required by law, Rent the Runway may require individuals to submit certain tax forms or other documentation in order to receive City Ambassador benefits. 

We reserve the right to change, modify and/or eliminate City Ambassador at any time and in our sole discretion, including discontinuing or changing the program benefits. If we make changes, we will notify you of such changes by any reasonable means. The “Last Updated” legend below indicates when these City Ambassador Terms & Community Guidelines were last changed. Your continued participation in City Ambassador will confirm your acceptance of the changes. Any City Ambassador benefits accrued prior to such change will be awarded based on benefits offered at the time of accrual. If you do not agree to the amended City Ambassador Terms & Guidelines or benefits, do not continue to participate in City Ambassador. 

Reviews, referrals and benefits

City Ambassadors who refer new RTR subscribers and post reviews may be eligible for benefits, including one or more free spots or free shipments in their subscription: 

Free spot. Offer valid only for approved City Ambassadors who, in one calendar month, complete both of (i) posting two qualifying reviews on the Rent the Runway site/app in the calendar month and (ii) referring two new RTR subscribers, where such new RTR subscribers enroll in an RTR monthly subscription plan via the referral program via the City Ambassador’s unique referral code during the qualifying month and do not already have 10 free spots active in their membership account (“Qualifying Referral Subscribers”). Reviews are deemed qualifying by Rent the Runway in its sole discretion. Qualifying Referral Subscribers will receive one (1) additional spot (“Extra Spot”) in their next monthly membership shipment. Additional taxes and fees may apply.  Once applied to your account, extra spot will be available automatically in the next shipment; maximum one free City Ambassador spot per month.  At the end of the promotional shipment, your RTR Membership will revert to the pre-promotional number of spots and will renew automatically at the then-applicable membership terms listed in your membership settings (additional taxes and fees may apply). RTR Memberships can be paused or canceled at any time by visiting Manage Plan in Your Membership Page. RTR Members can have a maximum of 10 free spots in their account at any time. If you already have 10 free spots in your account, you are not eligible to receive an Extra Spot. Offer is non-transferrable and cannot be combined with other offers. Cannot be exchanged for cash or credit. Additional terms may apply. Void where prohibited. Offer may be modified or canceled at any time.    Free shipment. City Ambassadors who qualify for a free spot (as defined above) in three consecutive months will have a free shipment added to their membership account. Qualifying City Ambassadors who receive the free shipment will have access to “unlock” the shipment as soon as it is applied to their account, and such shipment will contain the number of spots as a regular shipment in the member’s subscription plan. Additional taxes and fees may apply. Maximum one free City Ambassador shipment per month or quarter. At the end of the promotional shipment, your RTR Membership will revert to the pre-promotional number of shipments and will renew automatically at the then-applicable membership terms listed in your membership settings (additional taxes and fees may apply). RTR Memberships can be paused or canceled at any time by visiting Manage Plan in Your Membership Page. Offer is non-transferrable and cannot be combined with other offers or exchanged for cash or credit. Additional terms may apply. Void where prohibited. Offer may be modified or canceled at any time. Free spot and free shipment offers available only to active RTR subscribers who complete the qualifying reviews and referrals described above. Free spots and shipments generally will be applied to your account within ten (10) business days following the end of the applicable month. City Ambassador benefits are non-transferable, may not be applied toward Rent the Runway subscription membership fees, one time reserve rentals, items for purchase or PRO. Void where prohibited.

Events

As a City Ambassador, we encourage you to host events in your community celebrating Rent the Runway, and bringing together the incredible women in your network. We will give you access to an exclusive City Ambassador digital toolkit packed with assets, pro-tips, and checklists to host incredible Rent the Runway parties. 

Remember that when throwing Rent the Runway City Ambassador events, and acting as a City Ambassador in your IRL and online communities, you are representing Rent the Runway. The following terms govern your activities as a representative of Rent the Runway and use of our digital tools to enable these community building events. 

City Ambassadors have the following responsibilities when representing RTR: 

• Keep it kind. Uplift others, celebrate personal style, and comment with care. • Be inclusive. Everyone’s style, story, and stage of life are welcome. • Be respectful. Healthy and mature disagreement is fine, but do not disrespect or attack other members. Name-calling, bullying or harassment are not tolerated. • Stay engaged, by sharing - and listening. We encourage you to participate in meaningful conversation. As you would in IRL, also take time to consider the views and experiences others are sharing, listen as well as post, and consider how your posts will make others feel.  • Stay focused. This is a style-centric community group; please remember to stay on topic.  • No promotions. This isn’t a space to sell or promote outside products. • Follow the law. This goes without saying, but we’re saying it. Sharing or promotion of illegal content will trigger appropriate responsive action, up to and including reporting to law enforcement.

The following are prohibited in City Ambassador community events and other online or IRL engagement in which City Ambassadors represent Rent the Runway:

• Rudeness, disrespect, profanity, coarse language, offensive images, or slurs of any kind. • Offensive comments about people of various nationalities, ethnicities, religious affiliations, gender identities or sexual orientations.  • Soliciting members to sell or purchase any outside products or soliciting for money. • Surveys and research studies. • Pornography or child sexual abuse materials. • Content that infringes, misappropriates, or otherwise violates the intellectual property rights, privacy rights, or any other rights of anyone else (including Rent the Runway).

License to digital toolkit and Rent the Runway Trademarks

City Ambassadors may only use the Rent the Runway City Ambassador digital toolkit, including any Rent the Runway trademarks ("RTR Marks") contained therein, as necessary to host authorized City Ambassador community events and otherwise participate in City Ambassador.  If you are notified by Rent the Runway to cease using the digital toolkit or RTR Marks, you must immediately terminate all uses of the digital toolkit or RTR Marks, including by removing any public content or social media posts incorporating RTR Marks (including applicable hashtags). Rent the Runway reserves ownership of and all right, title and interest in and to its names, logos, and trademarks; all use of such trademarks by you will inure to the benefit of Rent the Runway.

Rent the Runway reserves the right to remove any City Ambassador for violations these City Ambassador Terms & Guidelines or the Rent the Runway Terms of Service, for brand safety concerns, for conduct deemed damaging to Rent the Runway’s reputation or values, or for any other reason at our sole discretion.
