I normally am a size four on top and a size six for my hips but since this dress was not fitted on the bottom I tried it on in a four which fit comfortably but the two fit better. I would definitely recommend going a size down if you are smaller on top. You don't have to wear a bra with this dress which is great because you don't have to worry about straps showing. The skirt has a little poof in it from the tulle which can get a little itchy if you are sweating so if you plan on wearing this for a dance I recommend wearing a slip or tights. It was a great dress overall and extremely flattering.
