I am between a 4 and a 6 and I wanted to wear big heels so I ordered the Long in both sizes. The 6 fit really well BUT it was too long. I ended up in the 4L which was the perfect length and a little tight, but it ended up being fine because it kept me from needing to pull up the dress at all.
