As many reviews stated, does run "short," but I wore the 8L, wore 2 1/2" heels, and I'm about 5'6" and felt the dress was "just about right." Probably could have worn slightly shorter heels but tends to be hard to find nice formal pumps shorter than 2 1/2". Otherwise, dress was very comfortable, nice stretchy material and the rouching and the "shawl" cover all the areas you might want to cover-up.
