Entrepreneur, New York Times writer, mom – Bee Shapiro is a real-life Wonder Woman. But her superhuman status didn’t happen overnight. The entrepreneur began her career in New York City as a lawyer before discovering her true passion for beauty. Going from cases to concealer isn’t exactly a conventional route. Needless to say, she went for it anyway: “I just woke up one day and thought, oh my gosh, the last thing I want to do today is go to the office. And I think that’s a really bad way to start your day. So, I quit.”

And boy aren’t we glad she did. Since leaving law, Bee has contributed countless stories to the New York Times, published her own book, Skin Deep, and started her own sustainable fragrance and body care line, Ellis Brooklyn. Pretty impressive, no? Consider this proof magic happens when you go for what you want.

We spent the morning in Brooklyn with the bosslady herself to get the scoop on her topsy-turvy story ending in massive success. Press play on the video above for lessons in life, style and, of course, why she believes renting your wardrobe is a game-changer. (We couldn’t agree more. We know, we’re biased.)
