The fit is true to size. If anything, it may run a little big, only because of the stretch in the back. I wore very low heels, so the length was great. However, if I were going to wear 4in heels, I would definitely have needed a 4L instead of 4R. The only "con" I have is that I wore a bra with the dress (at first) and the fabric of my bra against the fabric of the dress made it keep slipping down, showing my bra. So 2 easy solutions, wear stick-on's or use fashion tape on your bra.
