The dress is CRAZY short. I tried it on in the showroom and knew it was short going in so I can't claim surprise upon receipt. That said, I decided the night of that it was a little short for me so I layered a gauzy black skirt underneath so just an inch or so came out below the dress hem. This made it absolutely perfect, but be warned that it's really short! Otherwise it's really comfortable and danceable--we danced to 80s music all night!
