I wore these with the yellow rose bodice dress I rented-the blue really popped with the yellow dress. these could be worn for any event-casual to formal,day or not. I am used to wearing larger and heavier earrings so they were fine, but if you are not used to wearing or don't like heavy earrings-you may not be comfortable in these. But they are so beautiful it could be worth being uncomfortable. They aren't huge-but they definitely make a statement! Sad to have to return them!
